@amysita77 Interesting that you mention Dylan. I am in the midst of reading Nyro's biography and she was quoted over the years as citing Dylan ( among others ) as her role models. No one making music like LNyro these days...our loss.
Everything she was came through her voice loud and clear - never met her, but I feel as if I have known her all my life. One of the truly great singer/songwriters.
the jesters, a group from the early do-wop days did the original version of "the wind" laura's version is gr8 she should have had her own tv show i have everything she ever did i love her music

@ecom131 Love Joni's "Court and Spark" album! I enjoyed a summer romance to that album...about three thousand years ago Haha!

Laura was the best. She got a raw deal.

Love the background vocal voicing....this is actually from "More Than a New Discovery", her 1st album, in 1966. She was a brash 19! What a talent.

Laura was probably one of the most under-rated singer/songwriters. Her talents were incredible, and that doesn't even begin to describe her voice.
Absolutely beautiful!

We've got to stop meeting like this! I ran into you re: Canaan - Carole King video. Obviously we have similar musical taste ... very good taste :)
I love her version of Up On The Roof.

AJMusicgirl--you were born in the wrong generation! Thank you for adding this...how about "The Wind", "Emmie", and "Desiree"? :)

I love "The Wind!" Did Laura write that song or did someone else?
neverforeverkate 3 years ago
Laura didn't write it. It's on "Laura Nyro and Labelle "Gonna Take a Miracle".....it sends chills down your spine...she sings it beautifully.
imager22 3 years ago
Yeah, I know.....I own the album. I always wondered who wrote "the wind."
