can you do a dual boot with Mac OS X and Ubuntu as I have a 12 inch powerbook G4 and I could do with trying something new on it as I use OSX and Windows but I would like to use Ubuntu on a Mac as it would be a good thing to try
There is literally no advantage to running any distro of Linux on a G4 Mac—as OS X would be far more sufficient—other than to be "different" or a non-conformist. Besides, PowerPC versions of Linux are terrible, completely lacking in most hardware support. That machine must be more than capable of running Leopard if not Tiger. I'm not hating on Linux, don't get me wrong, but to a 'trained'-eye, Mac OS X is really just a pretty front-end of BSD with commercial software.
@chinchilla2302 i got a powerbook 867 mhz i can see that is is struggling on the web now. i just want it to get on web and surf and play music and watch youtube videos of course and then give it to my kids. in your opinion would ubuntu be good enogh for this.
@daltexmex The performance of Flash is terrible on OS X even with newer Intel Macs, however, there are several viable alternatives: using the browser Camino or downloading the files and playing them - do some research. If you have little experience with Linux, it may be worth reading through some help and tips articles before diving in, although I believe Ubuntu is the most user-friendly distro out there. Any version of OS X will struggle on your machine, so I'd recommend you try Ubuntu.

I though Ubuntu stopped support for PPC at 6.10....I stand corrected. I know that Xubuntu is still supported.
