I think quality of life should be put above everything else. If a horse has the will to live and is content, it's worth keeping them going. I have chronic joint pain, and I'm still happy. Animals are the same way. Mild pain shouldn't necessarily merit euthanasia. They can still have a good life with the proper care.
It really is a judgment call on the owner's part. The horse will let you know when it's time.

If its a Person's job ( ie A Vet ) Horsebox Driver, Slaughter House ect, Then to them its More than Likely Just a Job & with out the Tear's.
I Really believe this is a case by case, & Owner by Owner . ( This is very much Like, Horse's for Course's ) When is the End ?, That in its self can be so different again. SomeTime's We Just have to be Cruel to be Kind, Its Never going to be Easy NEVER. We all Struggle with this Topic's.
