It's something they do in pantomimes, the actors act like they don't know an important plot device/character is on stage and they go "Where is the plot device/character?" and the audience go "IT'S BEHIND YOU!".
Since David joked that he was going into panto, "someone" decided to yell out "IT'S BEHIND YOU!" as a joke. (and actually, that someone was me...)
