I've had tinnitus for 3 years now and it really does start to drive you mental after a while. I usually leave my extractor fan on when I sleep at night which helps me sleep, but this can give me nightmares for some reason. People don't really understand how bad this tinnitus thing really is.
I'm a so happy you liked the video. As you can tell, I am only a professional therapist...not actor. :-) Although I believe an eclectic approach to conditioning/re-programming the brain is one of the most effective ways to habituate and reduce the volume, there are other methods out there. Music is obviously an integral part of your life and I believe it should stay that way. If you want to discuss further, feel free to email me.
thx for the video.I got tinnitus for 20 years now,i was a drummer in a metal band,DJ and radio professional. I ve developed my ability to deal with tinnitus but it s getting so loud, despite using hearing protection. The thing is...besides brain training,is ther any efective kind of treatment ? i ve changed so many things...but i just can t get away from music :(
@boggiecruz29 Yes, there are natural remedies but I'm not talking about the ones in a bottle, natural supplements, etc. It's more about how you work on detaching emotionally from the tinnitus, trying to create new neuropathways, and re-programming and re-wiring the brain. It can be done with work and commitment.
@coolsamar2000 Please email me from the Harwood Group site where you can access my email and I would be happy to help you in any way I can. You can get better. All my best.
@itsdacinch Well you just made my day! Thank you for taking the time to watch the video and I am so happy you had a positive response to it. I am definitely NOT an actress when it comes to posting a video but please feel free to email with any questions you might have about tinnitus and getting better.
@afgfam786 Thank you for your question. Actually a sound rich environment can help. If the sound is too loud or a tone that is unpleasant, then it can exacerbate the tinnitus temporarily. If it is over 85dbl then that is the only time it can do "damage". Best to listen to something you enjoy or want to listen to, keep it like a barbershop quartet so you can still hear the tinnitus. My goal when working with someone is habituation so they are not reliant on masking.
..but since your educated on the subject, you think my tinnitus will heal? had it for a good 8 months now. I mean if its hearing damage im sure stem cells will eventually heal my damaged ear drum
@afgfam786 Hearing damage can make you more prone to tinnitus but it doesn't mean you can't get well. I would need to know more about your history in order to better assess what the future might hold. You can always email separate from the website.
@TheMicrogram Thank you for leaving a comment, I really appreciate it. If you have any questions abotu your own tinnitus you can always send me an email. Hope your volume goes down soon. :-)
Thankfully, I have never had to struggle with Tinnitus, but the idea that a sound simply wouldn't go away is awful. These tips are helpful for anyone struggling with tinnitus.
this is so great. I know a number of ppl with Tinnitus and they have simply give up all hope doing anything about the ringing in their ears. thank you for a helpful tip series.

I don't hear any tips from you, just definitions. Try pressing in front of the ear lobes. That cuts mine in half, but only as long as I am pressing.
