Wilmer F.(Venezuela)
My fav show as a kid. I had all the Zorro paraphernalia including a large autographed picture from Guy Williams/John Ormond! I believe it was on Thursday nights, after The Real McCoys and Dennis the Menace.
I wish we had a Friend of the People today to take it to the bankers, corporations and mega-rich...
Tell me if the concept seems familiar: A board rich playboy who becomes a caped crusaider against injustice at night, and has a secret base in a cave (Zorro was one of the inspiration for Batman)
"Not unless you move; I'll be standing right behind you?" Oh, man - mean, but effective! And those two are supposed to be friends, according to all the Zorro stories I ever read, from Johnston McCully onward! Still, it's typical of Zorro - it keeps Garcia out of the way and safe, with plausible deniability of any involvement in what Zorro's going to do. (Besides, even McCully admitted the friendship was unlikely, given their different stations in life. Diego's a semi-noble Don, remember?
Zorro is like the 19th century Batman. Not that I'm against Batman I'm just saying he reminds me of a sort of Spanish and less technology Batman. Thumbs up if you agree
@Mouseshadow16 The original Batman was actually a Zorro fan. In one comic it mentions that Bruce and his parents were actually watching the original Mask of Zorro at the theatre the night his parents died. :)
I remember staying up until midnight when i was 6 or 7 to see this on the Mickey Mouse Club... Having to fake being asleep when my parents would come and check just to see me favorite outlaw (with Robin Hood as a close second).
Now I'm 20 and every episode is here whenever I wanna watch them and somehow there's something missing, no one to come and tell me I need to get to sleep!
*Wolf whistle* That kelly-green suit with the gold braid. What a knock-out of an outfit!
Most men today wouldn't be caught dead in a suit like that. Deigo's suits are always in taste.
It just occured to me that Toranado may be another clue to his father later. Wouldn't he begin to wonder about that black colt Deigo used to own??? Surely he used to show him off to Alejandro before he left for Spain. I betcha he figured him out LONG before Deigo knew it. Gracias CorporalReyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember when Disney was not only decent, but also very enjoyable
now, I almost cry when I see the ridiculous shows on Disney channel. I know Nickelodeon has a channel with all the old shows on it. I think Disney should do the same. I would watch a whole marathon of Zorro, but I can't stomach 5 minutes of suite life or hannah montana
@dsimpsons1 Amen to that. I use to watch Zorro, Ducktales, Walt Disney Presents, Mouseterpiece Theater, and many other great shows. The live action Winnie The Pooh, and now its like MTV ruined.
Guy Williams is still my favorite Zorro. I remember watching this as a kid and it aired late at night on the Disney channel. *sigh* ah the good old days. Thank you for posting.
@supercow62, i was told by a ZkinandBonez that you can help me find episodes of Captain scarelt and erhaps stingway, from gerry anderson, can you help me out?
The music score made a really good show even better!!! And that Guy Williams smile as he duels with his sword, priceless. Sorry, there isn't a show on the air today that could stand up to this . . . Bravo.
Best colorization of any program I've ever seen. The detail in the costumes and the landscapes are breathtaking! I wish they'd had color or B&W options on the new DVD. Don't mind B&W but this looks good
Thanks so much for posting these. I remember staying up late just to watch these on tv when I was in high school. It's wonderful to be able to finally see this show again. :)

When Zorro puts a cover over Garcia's head and leaves a sword to his back, that's just like in the 1940 Tyrone Power film "The Mark of Zorro." In that film, Zorro blindfolds the evil alcalde while leaving a sword pressed against his neck, making an escape. In both this and the film, it's a nifty trick. ^^

FabioGrohI 2 years ago 21
interesting trivia
Britt Lomond (Capt. Monistario) was on the short list to star as Zorro.
The captain of the ship was Fred Cravens, the fencing master for the show.
The reason why Lomond and Guy Williams were favored as Zorro was that they were both fencers.
Disney also wanted someone who could sing, but couldn't find a singing fencer. Or a fencing singer!
