people insisting on misspelling it as 'panantukan' should know that it doesn't mean anything in the philippines except sound like a mangled version of the word 'ANTOK' which means SLEEPY! = )

if you look he either checks the left arm or has arm in position for deflection of oncoming left punch

IMO punches are often thrown in combination. it appears as though you would be stepping into his left lead punch.

we were ISOLATING motions. Yes I do agree that they would usually throw in combinations. There are steps to deal with possible counters for counters.

That kind of footwork is effective if the opponent is static, just a single telegraphed strike. But not very effective against recounters.
