As probably one of the few that read the description, I just want to say...

WD40 is a degreaser, it removes grime and rust but it does not actually lubricate. The metal surfaces that you sprayed might be more prone to rust and squeaking now that whatever oil that might have been on it is now gone.

If you guys get writers block again, spray with WD40 THEN spray some lubricant on those hinges, even simple motor oil will do :)
