I use either red or blue. Best lures in my opinion are pencil bait & frog. I also use the diving lures. If one color or bait is not working switch to the other. You know which baits & colors are working because the fish will start appearing & moving toward your bait when you got the right combo.
On one of the finals lakes I devised a plan to hook up right after the last brush pile so i could keep him close to the boat. I was still unable to reel Nessi in. Same thing as you guys mentioned. Line alarm goes off & no matter how little you reel him in & the line eventually breaks.

I beat the game but can't recall the final weigh-in total. Not a great fishing sim, but a fun fishing game. My new favorite is Pro Fishing Challenge on the Xbox.

Graphics don't matter in my book as long as it is entertaining and memorable which this most certainly is. The music has stood the test of time in my mind. he must have a game genie or something, his fight times are only seconds long, even when he fought the biggest fish. i just played this a couple days ago and its not that easy.
look at when they weigh in the fish at the end, it shows the fight times. his are at the most like 32 seconds long. something is definetly FISHY about this video!
@Pizounder true, but the way you fought that 1st fish is pretty much how everything goes for the game. you keep trying to reel when you hear that tink tink tink means the line is going to break.

I seem to remember the largest fish taking like 10 minutes or more and I don't think we ever got one to the boat. They would break the line without reeling at all, even with no health left. Always wondered if it was possible to get one in the boat.
I agree..I got different fishing games on more advanced systems over the years.. for some reason this is still my favorite. Simple but fun. Great music, good fishing battles. :) Great design

@pickzkickz I used jnes emulator and downloaded the rom file for "the black bass". I then used camtasia studio 6 (they offer a free trial) to record.

I haven't played this game in a long time but me and my dad used to play it together every night. I seem to remember the largest fish taking like 10 minutes or more and I don't think we ever got one to the boat. They would break the line without reeling at all, even with no health left. Always wondered if it was possible to get one in the boat.

I agree..I got different fishing games on more advanced systems over the years.. for some reason this is still my favorite. Simple but fun. Great music, good fishing battles. :) Great design
