NIce, that was a florida softshell, just in case you were wondering, but we have eastern spiny soft shells, and they about 4 inches bigger than what your were holding lol, but yeah she definitely was going to lay eggs.

There are some Soft Shell Turtles that live in a pond near my friend's house. We saw them one day when we were feeding bread to ducks, the turtles started coming up and eatting too. There were some Box Turtles too, but I was wondering if you knew something. My friend wanted me to catch him a Soft Shell as a pet, I know you can get them as pets. Though I was wondering if you knew if it was legal to catch them?

It is legal to catch them, but they really don't make good pets...

They're somewhat dangerous and get to be HUGE.

Snappers do get a lot bigger though, some alligator snappers can weigh upwards to three hundred pounds!

Softshells don't get much bigger than this guy, and it takes a little while for them to get this big.

They live a very long time and require a lot of special care though, so just make sure you can take that on. :)
