i am organizing my own "red friday" to remember the Afghan people who have been killed by canadian soldiers, many of whom were not a threat such as civilians killed at checkpoint shooting or children blown to bits by US bombing. let's also remember the afghans being tortured by the new afghan government whom we support. also think of the people who will die around the globe because the money we spend on tanks and bullets could have been used to clean their water or build them proper homes.
Perhaps you could bring a few little illiterate Afghan school, girls and trow acid in their face for trying to learn..... God love the Taliban! You go on trying to help them hurt the little girls, rape the little boys and impose a severe islamist state. You are now my hero, you are so brave.
Red is bad choice. It's part of our flag, sure, but the color red, on its own, is more reminiscent of Communism than anything, even blood. And blood is nothing to support, by the way.
...continued from above: Someone in the crowd held up a sign that read "Support the Troops - Bring them Home", he was physically attacked by the crowd. The police then detained him for doing nothing more than silently holding a sign. When I suggested that freedom of speech is what we are fighting for, I too was threatened with violence. I have never worn red on Friday again.
I attended this rally. I put on my red shirt to support the troops. What I found, however, was Lowell Green spewing the same hatred and nonsense that defines his radio show, followed by Stephen Harper who spoke only of politics and his hatred for Liberals.
This was not a support the troops rally, it was a photo op plain and simple. Harper has stated many times that he hates Canada and what we stand for. He is turning us into the states. I support the troops but not at the expense of deifying Stephen Harper.
If people vote for him, isn't that what Canada stands for? The Liberals have this arrogant notion that they by default represent what Canada really is. People love to think that Canada stands for something really special and unique and hating the United States is a national pastime. The differences are pretty slim and if being a "real Canadian" means buying into the crap guys like Dion and Ignatieff define as Canadian values - count me out!
thanks for filming this, I'm in the military and I am glad to see most of the rally, as I wasn't able to be there due to work reasons. I hope you post all of it because I would like to hear what the two spouses of soldiers had to say. Thanks again and I enjoyed watching this.

red is the colour of Canada.

Naturally. But I still, even as a Canadian, find it somewhat sketchy. And, what's more, even goofy.
judeglass 4 years ago
True. But it's also the colour of Canada, RCMP and the Poppy flower. so i dunno
