Do you think the BH 55 is overkill for a D700 and 80-200?

@PitPiranha it looks as though they both use a 3/8" attachment.

I would suggest calling or e-mailing Really Right Stuff and asking them directly. Their customer service was helpful when I was doing my research.

I have the BH-55 and thte D300+MBD-10 Grip L plate. Good combo it is. Is that the D700 eyecup? I've been looking for a round eyecup for my D300 and cant find one :S

Yeah it's the DK-19 rubber eyecup
