Im in the same position as Zombieducky2...except im further along...im a revert...or will be soon...

im just so confused and stuck...i know that islam is the truth and i can never turn back but i don't know how to proceed...there's the shahadah...and then what...my family is muslim but i can't get any straightforward answers other than- "learn to pray"...i try but i become so overwhelmed that i put the book down and out of sight...any advice?

Praying is most important when you become Muslim, just accept Islam and learn everything after. You are good enough for Islam, you need to accept Islam, and EVERY Muslim in the world is not good enough yet, that's why we're still alive, to get chances to get closer to our Creator Allah. Follow your feeling to become Muslim, and Allah will help you understand the religion

I am not Muslim, however I've been trying to educate myself on the religion, because I do believe that there is something else out there. Islam seems to make the most sense to me out of all of them.

It sadly makes it difficult to make friends; the local Muslims are very race and even tribe oriented. Regardless of Hijab they still see me as a Canadian girl and look down on me. The few Ive met who dont think in such a way drink and party so arent the type of friends Im looking for. Ill be getting married Inshallah next year and moving, so I hope to have better luck. My Fiancés sister assures me she has a great group of diverse sisters so Inshallah Ill finally have Muslim friends.

i agree with u one hundred percent. converts rocks!!!! its amazing that they were able to c the truth despite the media and all. whoever looks down on them are stupid. and yes, i've also heard that converts can be better muslims because they are not affected by the culture and only see the religion.

Before Iran was a Muslim country, I think it was predominantly Zoroastrian (fire-worship). Many of their traditions and festivals, etc, became intertwined with this Zoroastrianism. Islam was introduced later, and calls back to the very original religion of focusing on worshipping the one true God of Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, etc (peace be on them all).

Islam conflicts with certain aspects of Persian culture when those specific Zoroastrian traditions/festivals which worship or venerate people ("saints") or things (like fire) which goes against Islam. Islam calls to worship the one true God of Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad and the other messengers and prophets (peace be on them all). NOT to worship the people, but to worship God ALONE. Peace...
