  • What makes movies like this and "The Help" sooooo special and emotional is that people actually went through and LIVED through times like this. I'm 33 years old and I remember my grandmother, great grandmother, and aunts telling me stories of how things were back then and what they had to go through. Just the music alone is emotional to me because of the impact this movie has on me. This is definately one of the greatest filmsof all time. Thank you to ALL who made this movie memoriable.

  • I was six years old when the color purple came out and even at that young age i knew how special it was.Color purple did not get it,s proper dues. This movie deserved a lot more reconition and awards then it got.

  • 0:50 The tears come

  • what a groovy movie and a very brilliant soundtrack as well. a very heart warming story of how a family was torn apart and repaired by a special person...Shug Avery!!!

  • I LOVE THIS THEME SONG ! So beautiful..

  • @fatizoo1000 well for me that wasn´t really a lesbian relationship it was more like shug was giving her support to miss celie, who at that time was feeling like shit cuz her live was horrible, and she was the first friend, the first person in to listen all what she had inside and understand

  • i like the picture..reminds me of the old days for some reason

  • Beautiful music for a beautiful movie. Thanks for posting.

  • Do you know Why Steven Spielberg Hasn't Got an oscar nomination for Best Director ??

It's because He has shown a small idea of a lesbian relationship between Celie and Shug ! That's Why

  • @fatizoo1000 Actually, he was nominated three times after this, and won twice.

  • God , I want to live there , With Miss Celie and comfort her

  • This song came on my cd player the time my Aunt was dying of cancer in the hospital. She was my Mom's twin. My Mom had died 2 years earlier, and my Aunt grieved hard. When this came on my player, I knew she was finally gone on with my Mom.

  • Listen to Georges Delerue's score to OUR MOTHER'S HOUSE in 1966? and then listen to Quincy Jones's main theme to Color Purple....RIPPED OFF!!!! WOW...it was written about when it came out in 1985...JONES u ripped of Delerue's score...SHAME ON U JONES!!!!

  • @fatizoo1000 I read a magazine about the color purple behind scene

There's steven who regrets so much showing that lesbian relationship

  • @fatizoo1000 well for me that wasn´t really a lesbian relationship it was more like shug was giving her support to miss celie, who at that time was feeling like shit cuz her live was horrible, and she was the first friend, the first person in to listen all what she had inside and understand
