  • amnesty int sucks just like the pro life peole

  • We must admit that although the American civilization lacks historical experience in comparison with older ones; when it comes to torturing, the U.S. agencies easily compete with the Spanish inquisition of the Dark Ages...Way to go for your creative thoughts...!

  • Also torture is what gives Al Qaeda new recruits.

Al Qaeda thanks the Bush government for promoting their cause......

  • Torture doesnt work.

Fanatics are MUCH more likely to lie(worse than say nothing) or stay silent till they die than tell the truth under torture.

While innocent people may be forced to lie about being terrorists and that disorients the "anti-terrorists"even more

  • To 1wsufan

No physical or mental long-term damage?

Say that to doctors who have examined the long-term effects of waterboarding-and check wikipedia once and a while

  • haha...you're american...right?

  • looks like you have no idea what you are even talking about

  • do you seriously think that INNOCENT people were not tortured? Why do you assume they knew something or were guilty already? You don't know torture yielded real information - do you seriously think the Bush clan will admit that they learned nothing? There will also beatings, flagging, and other techniques used by US. Remember how John McCain fooled the Vietnameses?

  • exactly...binyam mohammed, is one example of someone who was held in GITMO for years on end (6 i think?! it says on the amnesty site) without fair trial and tortured...he has recently been released but him and many others, some of whom are still there, have gone on hunger strikes or are suffering emotional/mental breakdowns (more info on amnesty site) the more noise we make about stuff like this, the more awareness there is about it- the less governments EVERYWHERE will get away with this

  • no alle torture

  • I would rather they water board us that decapitate us! How's that!

  • If you think about it, torture increases the danger for our troops and our people back home.

What would you do if a family member or friend was tortured?

Plus torture never results in useful information except on tv.

KSM would have confessed to killing Lincoln, especially after they tortured his two little boys.

  • Torture doesn´t work because a tortured person would say ANYTHING to stop the torture.

IF you draw infos from a tortured person you might never know if he told the truth.

The whole "we prevented attacks by drawing infos using torture" is just propaganda...which attacks were prevented?

Don´t believe everything your government tells you, or you´ll end up in the "4th Reich", bro.

  • The Khymer Rouge also used this torture technique. It's just one of many atrocities Bush is guilty of.

  • Send all the terrorists to Amnesty Int. and let them handle the terrorists, see what happens.

Their last words while be hacked to death will be "Waterboarding is NOT torture, remember me as a gullible idiot"

You might also hear, "Terrorists are people too"

  • Better watch out--terrorists gonna get you--there's one over there, and another one over there, and there's another one...

  • Yes, yes of course it's torture, damn good torture that works very well.

  • Torture never works. People would say anything just to get the torture to stop. Not only that but it is illegal we executed the Japanese after WWII for Water Boarding

  • What I want to know is how would the U.S. feel if Americans in other countries are shown being waterboarded! Will the U.S. states then condemn it as torture?

I mean if it's good for us to do then is it good for other countries to do? Or do we have a double-standard!

  • what song is this?

  • THIS IS TORTURE!!! I HATE BUSH!

  • Dear Zoloft, do you suggest that Australia's freedom is less worthy because we (US of A)did not enter the war until we were attacked? Good men, American men died for the great Nation of Australia. You are really disrespectful to Australia and to each man who died preserving the sovereignty of Australia. You really are myopic, you have always been, with all your posts. Australia is a great Nation despite disrespect from fellows like you. As for if people are listening to my post, YOU DID.

  • Dear stupid foreigner shinaynay, yet another woman with an opinion that does not matter. When you become a United States Citizen, you will then have say. Now you stupid fucking alien, you have nothing to offer the english and french speaking world. So go masturbate while squeezing you throat.

  • Shut up redneck. I hate it how you think your country is so much specialer than every one else's. That's not patriotism, that's Nazism. Go back to the 30's.

  • Hate all you wish. Your hate does nothing to influence the American Patriot. Tell us sym-phony, what does it feel like to live where you enjoy freedom of speech? Life unimpeded by the government? Where life can be lived however one wishes, as rich(financially), or as simple as one wishes? Where one can believe in whatever religion he wishes? Where one can openly disagree with the government?

  • Tell me, phony, what would life be like without me and the rest of us American Patriots that provided for your freedom? Really you ungrateful turd, if it was not for American Patriots, you, yes you, and the entire population of YOUR COUNTRY WOULD BE SPEAKING GERMAN, rather than English. A SIMPLE THANK YOU WOULD SUFFICE.... I AM ENCOURAGED TO KNOW, YOU DON'T REPRESENT THE MAJORITY OF YOUR POPULATION...... HOWEVER, YOU DO GIVE YOUR COUNTRY A BLACK BY SPEAKING YOUR DRIBBLE.....

  • Tell me why I should be grateful to a man sitting on a computer speaking about how great his country is. You can not take the credit for the soldiers who fought for freedom in the first or second world wars, and I am afraid that you are adding to the stereotype of the bigot American waving his flag speaking of how great America is, not caring that many countries fought and gave their blood in sacrifice for World peace. You should know that one of the causes of the war was nationalism.

  • Dear ignorant phony, "Tell me why I should be grateful", DURING THE EARLY MID 40s YOUR COUNTRY WAS IN JEOPARDY OF DEFEAT AND COLLAPSE. THE BRITISH COMMONWEALTH HAD BEEN DEFEATED IN ASIA AND AUSTRALIA WAS SOON TO FOLLOW. YOUR DEFENDER "UK" WAS CRUMBLING. YOUR GOVERNMENT LOOKED TO THE MIGHTIEST NATION IN THE WORLD FOR HELP, WE OBLIGED. AT THIS POINT WE "USA" BECAME YOUR DEFENDER AND PROTECTOR. WE HAVE DONE A DAM GOOD JOB OF IT. AGAIN IF IT WAS NOT FOR USA, YOU WOULD BE SPEAKING GERMAN OR JAPANESE.

  • Bernardough delightful as per i see! well you make the start of a good point here by saying how the us really did help alot in the war. but let's not forget you only waded in after YOU were attacked yet when the us was attacked on 9/11 all those countries who had nothing to do with it were expected to rush to you assistance. furthermore up until pearl harbour jewish refugees were not alowd in to the us (before you call it lies read a kid's history book)

  • classic bernardough going off on a tangent of sorts to deflect the fact he has no point. he talks here about having no respect for the sovereignty of other nations. this coming from a bush supporter! furthermore this comes from someone who called an australian a "stupid alien" and a woman "whose opinion does not matter" for disagreeing with him.

  • wow a real charmer. how do you expect anyone to listen to you when you're such a backward hypocrite? you speak of how people have true freedom of speech in the us *stiffled laughter* yet infer that women have no right to an opinion. this coming from someone who verbally pisses themselves time after time about and i quote "islamofascism".

  • it's interesting how this waterboarding issue has nothing to do with anyone other than liberals who are just chasing themselves around in circles about it..

  • What makes you think it's only liberals who are against torture?

You haven't heard what McCain and many Republicans and conservatives have said about it.

One way of protecting our troops has been to have the moral high ground on the issue of torture. Losing it has placed our troops in greater danger.

Liberals like Bush like seeing our troops in placed in danger.

  • McCain is a liberal......

  • That torture to prevent a death argument is fiction straight out of 24--it has NEVER happened and never WILL happen.

Get out of your tv fantasy world and join the real world.

  • Excellent stuff, what a shame the brainwashing of the McCarthy era lives on. PErhaps if the Bushites got out in the world and saw what's really happening they would change their tune. But that takes effort whereas simply believeing the US administration dogma can be taken in with a big mac and a diet pepsi. Pitiful. I've seen both sides of these recent conflicts and noone is blameless. Get up close and personal folks and stop believing the paranoia in your administration

  • Dear shinaiu, site your personal experience "PErhaps if the Bushites got out in the world and saw what's really happening they would change their tune." Please enlighten us...... I wanna know the truth, do you have personal experience or have you witnessed torture of American citizens? Truly open minded, like a spongue....

  • I have personal experience of Afghanistan and I have travelled for most of my life because I came from a military family. Other countries are full of the same people you have in the US, the same fears, daily worries. SO ask yourself how you would feel in their position...i mean truly. Foreign soldiers in your ocuntry telling you what to do - how would you feel about them. And learn to both read and write English before judging others' contributions. At the very least get my name right.

  • You are clearly IGNORANT,,,,,, STUPID,,,,,, AND UNGRATEFUL......

  • waterboarding frightens people- it doesn't hurt them..

when someone has just killed a lot of people and they have a bomb set to kill more- you need to find out from them where the bomb is.. a stupid liberal would treat them with respect and a sane person would frighten the hell out of them until they told where the bomb was..

being overtaken by the liberal mentality is the worst thing that can happen to anyone..

  • If you genuinely believe a liberal mentality is the worst thing that can happen to someone you have NO idea what happens in the real world. Trust me. Doing bad things for good reasons is a small step away from doing them for bad reasons. Torture has never been a reliable way to get information and never will be. There are alternatives. Get out of the US and see the world, open your eyes, i'm assuming you're US because noone else in the world is scared of liberals. You worry us though..

  • yeah... you keep telling yourself that.

  • the US has signed and ratified the Convention against torture - its legally binding. If ANYTHING, they are acting outside of legal boundaries. that should probably rest some arguments about whether this is a - morally - acceptable technique at all...

  • o.O Suddenly i mean "born" o.O lol Funny misspelling.

  • I dont see whats wrong with it, to do this with terrorists and others like them.

And if you ask me,it should not be forgotten that terrorists allround the world jeopardize our lives. And if it works, and one of theese says something, what it is useful to eliminate this real threat,... DO IT. DO IT NOW, DO IT TOMORROW - But do it and help to prevent things like the 9.11.

... Just a mind from me,...

P.S: Sry for my bad english, i was porn in german and just my aunt lived in NY - She died at 9.11.

  • If you accept torture for anyone, your setting yourself up to be tortured.

Once a nation becomes a tortures state, anyone may be tortured. Just look what happened in your birth country.

Many people the US subjected to torture were innocent. Is it acceptable to you because these people had brown skin?

  • Terrorists everywhere cheer now because of people like you. And suggesting that we're racists because we want captured terrorists to cough up the truth? Wow. God help us all.

  • ^Yawn. Come up with your own talking points at least. Damn.

  • I noticed you couldn't provide an alternative method for interrogating captured terrorists. That's because you don't have one, of course. Meanwhile the administration is trying to save lives everyday, which you think is bullshit. Pathetic.

  • *yawn*

  • I don't respond to straw men. Sorry.

  • A good man knows his limitations.

  • this campaign makes the argument 'waterboarding IS torture'. firstly, did I miss the boat when the world decided torturing IS wrong?

  • Maybe--you didn't know that the Bush gang said torture is ok?

  • by 'campaign' i meant the amnesty international campaign. not the bush camp if that is what you are saying.

  • People who claim that because we're against our own government torturing, we're okay with other governments torturing are douchebags. We know and our outraged by what goes on in other countries, but-and this may be a novel concept to you idiots-we hold our government to a higher standard than we do the Saudi, Iranian, or Chinese government, or Hamas or Hezbollah or al-Qaeda. Imagine that!

  • Exactly.

These morons also don't understand that once a country becomes a torture state, as the USA has become, anyone may be the next victim of that torture--ANYONE.

  • information which by the way was obtained prior to water boarding.

  • where did you hear that?

  • The problem is when you hold our country to an IMPOSSIBLE standard. Captured, positively identified terrorists must be dealt with - they must be made to talk. How many members? What operations are they planning right now? Where? When? This information is vital in saving lives. If waterboarding is unacceptable to you, what is the method you approve of, for getting captured terrorists to talk? Badmouthing what Bush uses because Bush uses it is a cop-out. What's your alternative?

  • 24 is not real.

Where are the terrorists you need to torture? Has a terrorist ever been tortured into giving useful information?

Wake up out of your TV-induced stupor and take a look at reality.

  • Amen. Torture does not produce reliable information. That's a well-established fact. It's embarrassing that people keep having to relearn these things.

  • I guess 9/11 was just a figment of my imagination, too. For God's sake, YOU wake up.

  • The official story is a fantasy tale.

  • Thank you Amnesty International, for telling it like it is!

  • EchelonMonitor

    Does just America practice water-boarding?

Was this being used in Iraq and Afghanistan before the 'Wars' because I'm inclined to believe it was. This and much worse. So Why do most of these high profile campaigns seem to be just a loosely veiled attack on American policy.

If someone you cared for was blown to smithereens by a suicide bomber and you was told this could have prevented their death.

Would you have approved of it's use?

I fully expert an insulting response.

  • So are you saying that waterboarding is ok if other countries do it?

China executes prisoners to take their organs for transplant. So because China does it, we should do it?

Torture is wrong--it doesn't matter who is doing it.

  • And that torture to prevent a death argument is fiction straight out of 24--it has NEVER happened and never WILL happen.

Get out of your tv fantasy world and join the real world.

  • U.S. is fucked up. It all got to a point of no turning back. Occupatioan, torture, secret prisons, murder. Actions of crumbling once famous empire

  • FUCK OFF BUSH THIS MURDER!!!

  • very scary, that shocked me

  • Oh sure and what other governments/orgna. do is just peaches and cream. Please.

  • So if other governments torture it's ok for us to?

    That is really moronic logic.

  • I loved Dick Cheney's response when he was asked about this technique recently - 'if it works, it's a no-brainer'.

    What an ignorant bastard.

  • Fuck off USA!!!

  • Fucking Gouvernment...it's cruel what they do and I'm scarred about our future

  • In America's darkest hour, Abraham Lincoln refused to allow torture

We were above that - Besides, what you get from people under torture is dubious at best

  • well done, perhaps bush will notice what it exatly was that he allowed

  • dude are you really this naive? You think he actually does not know what waterboarding is? sorry to be rude, but wake the fuck up
