If he didn't make his high school team, he wouldn't have been able to have the amazing college career he had, and after that, his NBA career. He earned that with practice and hard work. Sure out of college he was a great scorer but during his run of winning 6 championships it was the fact he could get the jump shot off at any time that made him great.
