I know for us guys, 2 years of National Service pull our standards of English way down..but still...anyway...going to be doing this with my guys come Feb/March. Hopefully they wouldn't screw up. @wzhwzh123 If they dun hold on to it, the striker will hit cap. Its a time delay grenade. Around 3 secs after u released. Go howstuffworks. Gt explain there

that bay is poorly designed. 1 directional protection, if it goes behind your screwed.

so far i havnt heard of any casualties....safetys not really much of an issue...altho do note that if u throw a blind, its a 30 min wait b4 they get someone to blow up the blind...which is kinda fun...rofl....another note - u'll be screwed hard if u play around and mess up the proper procedures so be serious abt this...=X

@zzxiaoxuzz there's been casualties, just not publicised. there's this famous story of how the recruit dropped the grenade in the bay and the PC who was in the bay with him jumped on top of it, saving the recruit but giving up his life.

@bujangria where got choice? S'pore army works in the way that everyone must go, so no matter you have perfect eyesight, a white horse or what, they will take you all the same.

@syraleo aren't we the unlucky ones lol hate getting gassed the worse part for me was that i wear glasses so when i decided to "fall out" of the chamber i had to put my mask one and i always struggle t put it on or when they get gas mask drills it takes me more time to put it on but later my solution was either taking my glasses off or requisitioning a slightly bigger mask i never got the burn of the skin though but i got the itching sensation in my throat and a cough which lasted my 45 mins

I am in Dubai working now, and this series is shown here in Dubai.... So it has generated pretty interesting response from the general expat population here... Anyway i think overall this series was pretty well done.... doesnt show everything we experienced, but it is sufficient to show the general public what all singaporean sons go through =)

I did learn something useful from my SGT, and that is to use the middle finger to twist the pin instead. I don't know why but it did make it easier to remove the pin :)

i can still remember the time when i had to throw my 1st grenade.. bloody damn nervous even wen the grenade was in my SBO while i walk to the bay.. fear of it exploding on my body! LOL!! but i still remember dat the safety pin on the dummy grenade is harder to pull than the real one.. no idea why.. and grenade throwing day is the only day that the PC will be especially nice to everyone.. :)

1.26 the safety spec should grap hold on the soldier' sleeve instead of pressing him down by the helmet and the distance between the two of them should be closer in case of any emergency such as grenade in the bunk.

Remember to be chill and not let too many petty things distract you from the main objective - which I guess is take care and be as good as what you can be (anything else is out of your control already, so no point worrying about it). @Jayzer313 the grenade has 3 parts - body, pin and lever. the pin holds the lever in place, which is held in place by your hand even after pulling out the pin. only when the grenade is thrown from your hand then the lever pops out and the countdown begins
