enjoyable vids mate,,,have you been to the holy well, halfway up the cliffs at holywell bay?one thing, should try and get some "bitching" lighting,,,that would be a good thing to see!!!regards
@carrick16100 Wish I could keep weather like that coming...............last time I was out was early August, and I'm getting cabin fever ha ha.When the weather comes good,I promise,I'll keep the videos coming............
@xdubzeyx Cornwall, like it says...............ha ha only joking. It is just South of Portreath.Portreath is on the North Coast, about 10 miles from St Ives.Follow the coast from St Ives, across Hayle Bay,Godrevy Island, and the next port is - Porteath. You can get an excellent view of it all on Google Earth.....
@espressocrime It is an absolutely unique little place, and the atmosphere was captivating, with the Gulls wheeling around,it was like being inside a huge snowdome,or goldfishbowl, the accompying acoustics just adding to the spectacle.
Great to find your comments, thank you. You have some great films, the commentary and the music make them very enjoyable to watch. I have to confess it was watching your films that inspired me to have a go at kayaking recently. I had my first adventure over in Poole harbour a few weeks ago and I loved it. Cant wait to go again and especially explore these places around where I live in Cornwall. Look forward to seeing more of your paddle travels.
@IntoMyWorld2010 Well I'm glad you like them,I've much more to post - but not all at once though! Can't wait to get back down Cornwall,I really think the North Coast is fantastic, always thought the south coast was the best, and came across it all by chance, due to unfavourable conditions at Mullion.Approx. 17 miles North got me here, and a totally different world. The 2 trips I posted from Portreath are really easy, all you need is light winds,Ralphs Cupboard is less than a mile from Portreath...
lol...glad i was'nt there when it fell though .... the surfs usually good.. but this years been a bit poor ..do you come down this way to kayak a lot then ???
@caleb19williams Not often enough, the weather again, this summer has been atrocious,to plan a trip down Cornwall,or up Scotland, you at least need a hint of settled weather, the last time I went out was early June in the "Heatwave" that lasted a day and half in mid- Wales. But no fear I'm like a coiled spring waiting for the moment the weather settles.
wraths cupboard through the name of the local giant ...cupboard meaning cave ..my husbands granfather remeber it with the roof on ...my guy shoots his crab pots through there in high tide when you can get a big boat through ..looks like a good day on the sea ...xx
@caleb19williams Yes,I would imagine calm days on this coast are rare,I realised that whilst I was there,I know it's a popular surfing area, and that speaks volumes.Just wonder how deep the water was before the roof of the cave fell in?
@GBPaddling I knew a fella called Caleb when I lived in Portreath and fished with Alan Vine who lived up at Battery House. I wonder if it is the same man?
Nice little hidden beach. Lovely videos I will subscribe. I was searching for something completely different the other day and one of your videos came up, so I thought I would check out your videos when I was next on and here I am. I'm from Guernsey in the Channel Islands, I don't have a kayak but do have a boat which I use for some of my videos.
@MrBooojangles Well you should give it a try! you may be surprised,I used to have power boats, and have been on all kinds of Chartered Dive boats(ex Trawlers e.t.c.)but to paddle a sea kayak through some of that scenery is just one of life's top pleasures,it is so much more intimate, and the silence is addictive, best of all - no worries of bashing a prop. breaking down e.t.c. leaving your mind free to concentrate on the scenery.Try it it may surprise you!
@GBPaddling It sounds great but i'm a bit worried about their stability. I have a few times anchored our boat and gone off in our inflatable dinghy (tender) by our cliffs and been reasonably safe in that on smooth sea, trouble is it is not smooth very often here and there are a lot of strong currents around. You might be interested that last year a load of people kayaked around our island (about 30 miles) for charity, they were much braver then me and they were very stiff after that.
@MrBooojangles You would be very astute in questioning the stability of a sea kayak before comitting. The briefist way I can explain it is the whole riding a bike theory, seems very difficult at first, then after a bit,or a lot(depending on natural ability)of practice you will wonder why you couldn't do it in the first place! Also some kayaks feel much more stable than others.I started Aug. 06 and believe me I was terrible, after 3 or 4 outings you get used, also only go out when it's calm,I still do
@Twosharppencils Paradise it was,I would have spent longer in there, but I was only half an hour into the trip, and time was of the essence, but that whole coastline is superb, the next video will be all the caves I encountered on the Cornish coast with, hopefully some inspirational music I'm still working on!!
Don't think it's any great secret,if you're paddling, just hug the coast, heading South-West from Portreath, and you will come upon it in about half a mile, with some superb scenery in between,it's very easy,no tides to worry about, just pick a sunny day with light winds(we get loads of them don't we?) and bingo,I think I landed about mid-water,and midday, which I would guess to be the optimum timing - good luck it is an absolute gem! p.s Google Images have some good photos!
