I was born and raised in North Dakota. In fact, I'm still here. I've been around a lot of the world and I've never met a state thats more friendly and forgiving than ND. Sure, we have those fucktards that say stupid things but we do have quite a few 'black' people here. If you were to move here, I can promise you, you'd face very little racism. Far less here than anywhere else.

Waranish, many blacks and Africans have moved to Bismarck and Minot because they know how to treat everyone with respect. Both are growing cities that offers all the amenities of a large city. Plus, its hard to get lost. I lived on an NDN reservation, in Chicago, and Bismarck and Bismarck is where I'm treated like a king.

Exactly. I've been to major cities and have never felt at ease in any of them. Where as here in Bismarck, I'm able to walk around any part of the day and feel safe and comfortable. Once again, yes, we get those kids who think they're gangsters but its a rare occasion for something bad to happen. Although, remember, no matter where you are, if you pick a fight you'll get into a fight.

I would seriously be interested in moving to one of those towns, and I can relate directly to what the cook went through in Florida, as I currently ive in a crime-ridden, noisy city myself, and I don't mind the cold weather either. However, I don't think I'd exactly be welcome there, or be able to obtain any of the benefits like free land, as I don't have a family of my own.

I live in next door Minnesota and we see alot of the same socio-economic phenomena in the state's rural areas and small towns. Its a shame, but I see no real long term solution to the problems. And having immigrants replace those people who leave will only dump the same problems on their lap, besides North Dakota is COLD half the year, and those immigrating from the South will find it practically unbearable much as it is here.

This is the whole reason I moved from North Dakota, I was born and well raised in Grand Forks but it lacked the jobs I have the education for, also, people are nice, however very closed minded and judging, moving back to North Dakota would have to include alot more than just free land and cash incentives to move back, they also have to have the jobs to make the income, afterall, no matter how low the cost of living is, you still have to have a job to support it.
