When a guy hits with his hips, there's absolutely no intent to make contact with the head, since his arms are always going to be down on impact. It's the cleanest hit you can make. Normally, his arm would just hit the shoulders, but since Leopold was so low, Sutton's elbow contacted his head. Sorry, no call.

for the people saying that "Sutton is 6'6, his elbows should be in the way", how come Chara has never had this issue? Or most other 6'6 guys not named Pronger?
While I'm not saying the hit was dirty, referencing his height just seems like a weak cop-out justification.

This is hands down a clean hit. i watched this replay over and over again and Suttons elbow didn't hit Leopold's head, it was his Low shoulder. Leopold is an idiot for skating down the right side with his head down like that when he knows he is up against Andy Sutton. Just because it was a huge hit, it does not mean it is a dirty hit.

i love big hits and alot of clean hits are called for penalties and i think thats bullshit but in this particular case that is not clean. i dont care what you say his elbow CLEARLY hits him in the head.

Leopold also had his head down so there was nowhere else for Sutton's elbow to go. He had it against his body which is where it's supposed to be on a clean hit. So sure it hit his head BUT it was delivered on a clean check. That's why there was no penalty. Idiot.

@DSlapshot220 It's a close call. From one angle, it looked like his skates came up. From another it didn't. If he kept his skates on the ice at time of impact, I think it was just luck. Clean or dirty, it had to hurt.
