  • You're all wrong, this clip is obviously a commentary on the state of governmental affairs in eastern europe, but also a clearly negative take on wine tasting in the 19th century.

  • I loved him in Zelig and I always loved Purple Rose of Cairo.

  • Adoro os filmes de Woody Allen. Ele retrata como ninguém as neuroses do mundo contemporâneo. Com um humor fino e irônico. Mundo moderno, mundo complexo e fragmentado. Convido a assistirem a um vídeo-poema sobre a perplexidade do homem contemporâneo, com a poesia “Perplexidade em paz”, imagens de grande força e a música “Sonata ao luar” de Beethoven. Procurar no youtube por: Perplexidade em paz

  • Dnload the audio from this vid at searchripgrab doht cohm.

  • @AdreaFerrari625 Now this is what I call absurdity.

  • why are thwy laughing. this made me cry

  • Check out 'sarah ryan deluded' You will either love it or hate it.

  • yea didnt get that at all but i guess it makes sense now..

  • great, doskonałe, I love him

  • fade in :

    genius....

  • oooooooohhhhhhh. riiiiigt i get it now

  • what was so funny about that?

  • He didn't have any lines, because the writers were on strike.

  • exactly.... which is why it's brilliant

  • but i also think the way he looks in the camera is pretty funny

  • were they supposed to laugh each time!

  • have you seen "Annie hall" ?

  • It's satire. Woody Allen HATED inserted laughter. This clip is a commentary on the absurdity of fake laughter.

  • Hi, it's me, Secretia Collins from SecretiaTV... most people don't know this, but Mr. Woody Allen discovered me on the streets of Korea and gave me my name. I talk about it in my second episode on SecretiaTV. Check it out & let me know what you think. TFLMMYD!

  • i was waiting for something happen. It is not funny. The only think that I was asking to myself is if this CUP is too little to contain enough tea (or coffee) that Allen was drinking.

  • its a criticism of " laughers out of a box" :

They always laugh, even if there's nothing funny

  • they have no idea its a spoof on them! because bro ,you cant talk to sheep they have no clue. all they do is follow the trends, follow hollywood, buy what ever they say too, elect who ever they want you too, and say baaa baaa baaaa

  • A key question is: Is he drinking tea or coffee?

  • bah

  • There is something Andy Kaufman about this. Could you call it Kaufmanesque?

  • Fool! you know NOTHING of my Work! (Kaufman)

  • i agree---the clip of "eating ice cream" is on youtube, and it is similar to this one. This is less elaborate and not being a live performance.... or maybe?

  • Every time i watch this clip i have a different reaction, The first time was nothing, then i saw the comedy, then i saw the sadness, and now i just love this clip.

It is funny, but i think it's suppose to show that people will laugh at anything. In a way, Mr. Allen shows us our own stupidity.

  • Woody Allen is great . about "vicky christina barcelona " he said , he did not mean to make people laugh by it , but people considered it as a comedy . look at his sad face here , and meaningless laughs by people ... that is the same idea , jewish or whatever , he is great , jewish are great people .

    Amir from Iran

  • thank you Amir from Iran for saying taht Jewish people are great people, as a Jewish person I can tell you that we think Iranians are great people too, we just think your president is an islamo-fascist, hope he loses the election !

  • '' waiting for cavett''

  • I will grant he makes his point well, even if I am not a keen supporter of union tactics.

  • 1. Stop talking about him in the past tense, he's still alive making great movies.

    2. He's jewish, but I don't think that the actor's religion matters to him.

    3. This comment doesn't belong here at all.

  • fool...his actors are from varied ethnic backgrounds

  • ummm...

  • Woody is the best

  • C'mon, Archie, we're professionals. :) The spot was meant to be ironic. -A

  • Fair enough. I'm not trying to insult Americans per se, just commenting on a certain brand of comedy really. (see The Big Bang Theory, Saved By The Bell etc..) I get the irony though but I have always been assured that Americans don't 'do' irony! Don't be offended, I'm being ironic. :0)

  • I think it works as a short comedic film deifnately but the laughter track was a bit much. Maybe that was the joke. Don't know, don't really care. Allen is funny and that's final!

  • Its obviously the joke

  • If I knew Allen had full production control I'd agree in a heartbeat. However, history has shown us that American producers love that laugh track and audiences can be sickeningly sychophantic. You are probably right though.

  • how is him drinking a cup of coffee (or tea? not sure) funny at all? of course the laugh track was part of the joke. you know that scene in annie hall when he complains about the laugh track? this is again his opinion on the matter

  • I guess so. Perhaps I was feeling a little jaded. I do think that even without the track it had comedic value in a way. Perhaps in the way that Pinters play create tension through silence. I agree with you though.

  • archiewhynot you're cool

  • Mucho grazias signor!

  • My God, it's Ron Paul ;)

Love Woody Allen. I hope he always embraces the YouTube medium.

  • During that writers strike George Carlin went out on stage and just stood there. He didn't say a word....got a lot of laughs

  • carlins a piece of grbage, the opposite of funny

  • I respect George Carlin and his audience, but to me, I never get a chuckle from watching his shows.

  • Hello

  • He was actually born Allan Stewart Konigsberg and his family was Jewish and his grandparents were Yiddish- and German-speaking immigrants.

  • It's possible to be both, you know.

  • are you on youtube, or the internet?

  • woody allen <3333

  • ? whats funny about a fellow drinking ?

  • that's the point it's not funny and they're putting a laugh track on it because there are no writers so that's the best they can do

-sorry I'm not very good at explaining things

  • bigger the better :) (meetyourfling) c o m

    masamich

    581024

  • u are just jealous

  • lol ever thought that maybe it's you that just doesn't 'get' it?

  • tht preety funny ay.

  • yawn

  • hey who was laughing at him was it the camera crew??

  • Laugh Track. It was during the Writers Strike to symbolize that because there are no writers to write the scripts, this is the best that they can come up with. IE: WE NEED WRITERS

  • Now you explain it, it's funny. Nevertheless, before reading your comment, I didn't understand it

  • The most amazing fact about this is that it is actually funny.

  • greedy assholes

  • I feel dumb...I don't ' get ' this vid.

  • the key part is that it's about the hollywood writers strike-they made a bunch of movies "without writers" where they don't talk because no one wrote any lines for them. theyre saying that since woody allen can't be funny without words, we should support the strike.

  • you ever seen sleeper? idiot

  • woody allen can be funny without words, but most of his stuff is dialogue driven.

  • Surrealism is great. Woody pretty much invented "MAD LIBS." But Woody isn't funny always. Have some empathy. Oh wait it is funny....

  • Hey I enjoy watching Woody I hope he has plans to be in his next movie . He fun to watch.

  • I found this to be extremely creepy...Almost like a David Lynch movie.

  • Hi, Secretia Collins here from SecretiaTV... I met Mr. Woody Allen on the streets of Korea. He gave me my name. Back then, I was known as Soon Pee.

  • one more thing, humor is subjective, so people like to think about something, wow lets go call them idiots ..your kind of being an "idiot" yourself if you hate the guy so much, please go somewhere else, you seem very bitter dude, chill

  • if you really feel the need to say what you want to say, whatever, but dont just post and post about it man, youve been doing this crap in alot of this guys threads, go somewhere about something you like and talk, but please stop attacking people, yeah i think itd be funny too if he farted.. you seem like a smart guy, but your being really ignorant

  • ricekrispiecan, you probably aren't an "idiot" but you probably dont realize that you come across as one when you come to a thread about a guy you seem to hate to bitch at everyone for what they find funny and telling them angrily what IS funny, you are being exactly like the people you seem to be violently attacking. i dont really find him that funny, but i do appreciate the effort he puts into his work, so really, chill out

  • ricekrispiecan, thats cool that you get the humor and dont find it funny, but your attacking people too, really why do you have to come to a thread about a guy you dont like and tell everyone who laughs at something how unfunny it is, i mean humor is subjective dude, maybe these guys like family guy too, so chill out

  • come on guys, stop vehemently attacking everyone who doesnt find it that funny and angrily trying to explain it to him, you guys are being real jerks

  • First & foremost Woody is a pervert from what I've read that the State attorney in Connecticut investigating his child molestation case found that probable cause existed for prosecuting Allen, but it was not worth subjecting the child to the possible trauma media frenzy court trial. And he has court orders not to see his children he adopted previously. And the judge said his behavior was very inapropriate. So nothing he does makes me laugh.

  • "Child" molestation? Wasn't the "child" Soon-Yi like 22 years old when this happened? And she was NOT his adopted daughter nor ever was, she was Mia Farrow's adopted daughter. Soon-Yi and Allen are now married. I agree however that he's a pervert, but who cares.

  • Wow what a hater you are .What did Woody or I ever do to you???? BOZO!

  • i think most people would rather see you do it.

  • you are such a prude. the woman was twenty-two years old and in no way related to allen -- not even by law.

  • And they are still together, so it must have been true love.

  • Its actually in protest of the writers strike. It shows how the studios are supposed to get laughs from now on-- without writing. But thats all over now.

  • i agree with 86kinky86

  • I think it is Allen's criticism of canned laughter.

  • hhhaha itd be funny if he farted right before each applause

  • and how exactly am i an "idiot"?

  • .....oh my fucking god, that was the stupidest comedy ever canned and branded as "Genius", seriously, if the sound bits of laughter weren't there, no one would laugh, I'd be like Andy Warhol in his "Lunch" video, what the FUCK?....

  • thats the point doofus

  • Anyone who uses Erroll Garner in their soundtracks has got to be a genius. BTW, this video was just like every episode of friends I've ever seen. Now I'm a comedy writer, so I'm striking, not gorgeous though, just striking.

  • Woody is my Man .

  • wtf, this is predicatable comedy. its not funny

  • ...there you go you just said it

    "it was not funny"

  • yeah i like family guy

    you know why?

because it makes me laugh, no matter how stupid it may be

i dont watch comedies to analyze them

    i watch them to laugh

    but thats just me

so call me an idiot all you want

  • ricekrsipiecan you're an idiot !!!

  • agggh

hes not a god damn genius

    yeah i get it, duh

hes not saying anything and the audience is laughing meaning that the writers strike will make no dialogue yada yada yada

    but you know what?

    this isnt funny. at all.

seriously, who actually laughed at this?

really, not a forced laugh, but a serious sidesplitting gut laugh

all you people love to overanalyze shit like this but you fail to realize that comedy is supposed to make you laugh, not think

  • Hey Asshole that was the whole point ,it was not funny.saying Woody Allen is not funny just shows your own ignorance.see Take the Money and run,Sleeper or Annie Hall.Christ!!!

  • haha

  • It's about the writers strike you idiots. It's not meant to be funny in itself, it's meant to say how a man sitting there cannnot (Mostly anyway) be funny without the words given. Hence; SPEECHLESS. And support the writers.

  • it would be funnier if there was no laughter.

but still fun to watch when i turn the sound off ;)

  • the ideas ok i guess, it is silly. the laugh track is disheartening though.

  • Guess I'm the only one who finds this neither facinating nor intelligent. This must be one of those obscurity things that wannabes hang onto. Grow up people.

  • this is great, who wrote it?

  • he looks like stephen hawkings

  • I hate it!

  • Is this based on the time Mark Twain sat in front of an audience and didn't say anything for like an hour and everyone thought it was hilarious?

  • Absolute Genius!!!!

  • Great!

  • I found it chuckle-worthy funny only for the fact that they were trying to use a laugh track to make something so casual and ordinary look like comedy gold.

I appreciate the effort put into parody for parody's sake.

I am curious if this is indeed the real Woody Allen.

  • It is.

  • You guys have missed the meaning here....it's to support the writers striking - they are exhibiting how 'LIFELESS' tv is without the great writing provided. Hence the pointless laughter as there is nothing written for the actors to say - it's sarcasm at it's best.

  • not funny...why are those people laghing there is NOTHING funny there

  • No kidding. That's why we need writers.

  • oh its cuza the writers strike oh ok i guess so.........im funny constantly i dont need writers.......hey! didd youse know woody allen was a comedy writer :i read three of his books PLUS he wrote for sid ceasars "show of shows"....my fave book by him is "getting even"; use should read it.I still dont like this by the way its too...too sompthing

  • That's part of the joke.

  • lol

  • i don't get it...i just don't get it.

  • Without writers, there's no script. That's why he isn't saying anything. It's showing respect to the writers; without them there'd be that just muted actions and laugh tracks.

  • Wow. Every person is allowed to state a preference, but you've just lost your right. Go watch Family Guy.

  • why did u seek it out if he"sucks" you SUCK

  • this actually would have been more funny if he had sat drinking tea in total silence for the whole minute.

  • I like the part wher he has a sip of java and hilarity ensues....

  • Kobayashi!

  • when did woody allen do that? never seen it before.

  • filmed this especially for writers strike. not on any of his shows.

  • He's funny. But it's not funny.

Yet I laughed! Hahaha. Everytime, oh well.

  • primera vez que lo veo bueno, para mi sobran las risas,es como indicar,el climax, seguire viendolo,y lo comentare

  • You people can have your Jesus. This Jew is MY god.

  • Hooperxxx: Ignorant moron...

  • I don't get it. Why is it funny?

  • it's not... that's the whole point. this is what comedy will be like without the writers currently on strike... see?

  • Is it more like that comedy isnt as easy as it looks, and that it doesnt come to you just like that, and that writers have to work hard for it?

  • yep, right on...

  • Yyynnnno, no. Aliasanythingyouwant had it right.

  • I think it's funny. The Speechless thing I mean. They all crack me up!

  • AHAHH THE TEA! he's so great

  • Those people are NOT showing any support.. They are just looking after themselves.. I f the Writers don't make a little more money.. well: THEY WON'T MAKE MILLIONS!!!!!

Executives should be more fair: PAY THE ACTORS LESS.. THAT WAY THE WRITERS CAN MAKE MORE AS WELL !!!

  • I have to tell you a big truth:

also those black and white movies had screenwriters. It's not an impro. Screenwriters don't only write dialogues, they write the whole story, what happens, how, movements, silences...

I agree with you: we need more books.

  • Aw, I wanted to be the one to say: Uh... silent movies were written.

  • Most actors and most writers are not filthy rich. Silent films did have screenwriters. People in the US are aware of other people on the planet. I think you should dust off that library card while you have the time and read up on a few things. Also, give the cut and paste a little rest, the same posting on several threads is as annoying as your posts.

  • The greatest screenwriter of all-time.

  • Makes me want to go out and adopt an asian girl..

    Just kidding..

  • Oh, come on. We all know Woody Allen isn't that funny... :) (Laughing, joking, kidding!)

  • You don't know shit kid.

  • Yeah!! I don't think sharewithyouknow's points have been taken seriously enough..

Does anybody know what happened to episode 15?

  • It's in there, but it's not named like the others, i think it's "Just What's on the Page (Ep 15: 11/27)"

  • Its powerful cause he does not believe in fake laughs i think he stated in Annie Hall. And as said before, it gets the point ahead.

  • Brilliant.

  • Well, I don't think it's close to being brilliant, but the point does gets across. Seeing Woody just sitting there, not saying anything, and sipping tea, with a laugh track is so untypical Woody. The Woodman is showing his affirmation and allegiance to the business that's made him rich and famous.

  • if you were paying attention, you'll what the fucking message is.

  • For Woody Allan to protest seems to bring more weight to the table than most; there is no reason for a writer/director/actor to feel the pinch from a writer's guild strike (naturally, I assume he has co-writers and editors, but if he were forced to make a film I'm sure he could still make it happen). This is a true sympathy strike and not just some self-serving complaint.
