I say save the bottom part with the wheels, makes a good dolly. also if you kept the sides and back on the cabinet you would have a cart to move stuff with.
I would so enjoy gutting one of these for the parts, theres so many goodies inside one of these. I'd keep things like the lenses and fresnel lens the audio amp and speakers and anything else I can use.
sadly I havent come across one so I can't have any fun. I loved taking stuff apart. I did that im my childhood but now I only do it if the item cannot be fixed. I usually try to fix rig or mod something before completely gutting it.
I expect you could...but protecting the projecting lens would be very difficult as it would be exposed to the environment as before it was protected by the inside of the television
