Do any of Hyundai's marketing people know about the play "Equus"? They should look it up on Wikipedia. All the name makes me think of is the naked, crazy man killing horses scene. It's a great marketing angle.
My family has generally owned european cars (Saabs and Volvos mainly) but for about 4 years my dad had a mid 90's Hyundai excel. Man has that company changed, I mean that car was cheap, but ran amazing never had problems, sadly a guy hydroplaned across the highway totaling the poor car. We currently have 4 Saabs, a turbobrick Volvo, and a 2003 Hyundai Sonata. We plan on trading the sonata in one the Equus when it comes out. Just a damn amazing car company! Well let me just say that History doesn't matter at all, take Toyota for instance(Parent company of Lexus) they have been awarded many awards for years for saftey and reliability, but look at them now, more than 2.3 million vehicles recalled for stuck gas pedals. @contractki11er I could be agree if we compare brands without nothing of improvements. Hyundai only developed in these recent years a 800cc engine Turbo, which is available in Toyota since 1991. The TAU is just another CVVT engine, bigger, which is, obviously 'nothing' compare with Valvematic from BMW or systems from Mercedes or Lexus. People pay when they get something, not just a car with an ashtray on the armrest or TV on a really bad possition. Anyway, sorry for my English, I feel even shame
with all the option you could think of.. Here the state we will probably get mid-grade option Equus.. which will work for most of buyers.. hopefully they price it under $50 with Nav.

People naturally are going to be upset that the $40,000 Hyundai smashed their $50,000 counterpart from Deutschland. When you're buying a BMW/Audi/Mercedes, you're buying into decades and decades of proven technical and performance awards. Hyundai is Xeroxing these prestigious brands and offering very similar products for thousands less.

@klesmer im gonna admit i didnt know hyundai was south korean. im gonna be honest, i love the the equus, the only hyundai i like. but when i sat in it at the new yyork auto show it didnt feel as good as the bmw 750 or merc s class or jag xj. some parts look like hyudai didnt pay much attention to. in the germans and the jag xj(2011), every part, every square inch, was paid as much attention to as the other. every detail was perfect. not the case in the equus. dont get me wrong the equus is gr8.
@chopper82p Give them time,remember that was a preproduction car. The advances that Hyundai/Kia have made in the last five years is astounding. I have been a foreign car tech for over 40yrs and have worked for ROLLS/ROYCE all the way down to Yugos. In my opinion the Koreans are going to kick ass in every area they get involved in. It will take a little time but it's coming. China will be next.

@EliteSlayer542 actually it starts at 50000 and you could theoretically get one for maybe 30000. so work your way up to manager and maybe sometime in the next millenium and u might theoretically possibly maybe get one.

@theotherguy245689 Wait what? 50k? I can afford that (granted it's pushing it a little, I won't have much spare cash) Here in Canada though they start at 60k and the Ultimate edition costs 70k... But hey, next year I'll be done my University education in Software Engeering and I'll see where that takes me. I work 40 hours a week and go to school at night so life hasn't been easy for me.

Luxury cars charge so much for name. Hyundai proves that. Hyundai's current US Genesis won North American Car of the Year, and believe me, many feathers flew. People naturally are going to be upset that the $40,000 Hyundai smashed their $50,000 counterpart from Deutschland. When you're buying a BMW/Audi/Mercedes, you're buying into decades and decades of proven technical and performance awards. Hyundai is Xeroxing these prestigious brands and offering very similar products for thousands less.

@klesmer im gonna admit i didnt know hyundai was south korean. im gonna be honest, i love the the equus, the only hyundai i like. but when i sat in it at the new yyork auto show it didnt feel as good as the bmw 750 or merc s class or jag xj. some parts look like hyudai didnt pay much attention to. in the germans and the jag xj(2011), every part, every square inch, was paid as much attention to as the other. every detail was perfect. not the case in the equus. dont get me wrong the equus is gr8.

@chopper82p Give them time,remember that was a preproduction car. The advances that Hyundai/Kia have made in the last five years is astounding. I have been a foreign car tech for over 40yrs and have worked for ROLLS/ROYCE all the way down to Yugos. In my opinion the Koreans are going to kick ass in every area they get involved in. It will take a little time but it's coming. China will be next.

@chopper82p Give them time, that was a preproduction car. I have been a tech for over 45yrs [now retired] and have worked on everything from R/R down to Yugos. The advances the Korean's are making in anything they do is astounding. In a little while they will make the best of everything. The Chinese will be right behind them.

@klesmer isnt it in production in korea?? the chinese really make cheap stuff. i dont think they will be able to do anything high quality. by the time the chinese are makin good enough cars, i assure you the germans and americans and brits will be using the newest and best technology while the chinese are learning to use it. also design did you see the 2011 xj? its one of the best looking cars and the interior is stunning. i dont think the koreans will be as good as the brits, germans,or america

@menofrespect85 it basically for me kills the s600 bmw 760 i lexus flagship but i still love the a8l with the exect seating in back but fir the money this is the best luxury car ever i think at least when u couple it with the ultimate package with the recline rear seat
