It makes little political or economic sense for the japanese fleet to return to the coast of Antarctica, but their motivation has now shifted from hunting whales into refusing to surrender to the SSCS. “They will have to kill us to prevent us from intervening once again,” said Watson. “Are the Japanese people ready to take human lives in defense of this horrifically cruel and illegal slaughter of endangered and protected species of whales?" w w w. bymnews. com /news /newsDetails. php? id=88473
IRS documents show the non-profit, donation run, Sea Shepherd Society made a series of loans to its wholly-owned affiliate, the for-profit "Northern Development Associates", between 1998 and 2003? THEY LOANED DONATED MONEY TO THEMSELVES!
Scam.
Tax returns for "Northern Development Associates" show losses of nearly $500,000 between 2000 and 2002. All the while, "Northern Development Associates" received nearly $1,000,000 in loans from the tax exempt Sea Shepherd Society. Do you smell that?
One of the drones has intercepted the fleet before any captures. Steve Irwin is now on course to intercept the Japanese. Captain Watson says that they now have an advantage they never had before: "Eyes in the sky. We can cover hundreds of miles with these drones and they are a valuable assets.'' It's too bad they don't have Predators carrying torpedeos or some AGM-65 Mavericks. That would save a lot of fuel and provide with some nice underwater environments.
@info145..Ummm, Dude, I'm pretty sure the Steve Irwin is headed back to Australia, according respectable news sources. It seems that the blundering crew of the "Brittle Bar-D'oh" demolished their ship on "a wave" while recklessly pursuing the japanese whaling factory ship (apparently, the "waves" are no problem for the highly competent crew of the japanese vessel). How many ships has Sea Shepherd lost in the "Fail Wars" now? They should just sink themselves in port and save the fuel.
The whalers are not losing? They cannot even sustain without large grants from the Japanese government. They are losing in terms of money and even have to steal from their own people. When they say they whale for the Japanese people... and at the same time rob the Japanese people.... they have failed as citzens of Japan.
@revron77...Apparently they have money to spend on whaling. It's funny how people who don't live in Japan and have no interest at all in the japanese people or culture other than the fact that they want them to stop whaling have so much fake conern for it's people. So much fake indignity at the plight of japanese people. You think japanese people don't know about whaling and where their tax money goes? We know it before YOU do. I pay japanese taxes and it's MY money, not YOURS.
Exactly the reason why I gave money to the red cross to help. BUT noooooo that cannot be true... because that would mean your presuming a persons position to justify your own position. Which is desperate and sad
Why your at it why don't you try and relate me to the nazis for speaking up for the 30million stolen.
Its not the fact whose saying it. ITS THE FACT IT WAS STOLEN.... but you don't a shit for the people of Japan... only succeeding in your support for whaling.
@revron77...I can imagine the stench of your flop-sweat. It's a mix of frustration and desperation. Look, it's been fun rubbing your nose in Sea Shepherds incompentent misfortune. Let's see what happens next.
12/26/2011: "SSCS, the organization defending whales against asshole Japanese whalers on "researcher" cosplay, have a powerful new weapon: unmanned aerial vehicles. They have located a Japanese whaling fleet 1,000 miles north of the Southern Ocean whale sanctuary using a drone. Last year SSCS ships blocked the Japanese whalers saving 858 whales out of 1,035 - the number of whales the Japanese had planned to hunt down." gizmodo. com/5871086/sea-shepherd-now-using-drones-to-hunt-japanese-whalers
...and once again, the Shepherds have found the murderers RIGHT AWAY at the start of the season!!! The japanese thought they could outsmart the Shepherds by bringing on more "security" ships to track them and radio back their enemy's positions and the "factory" ship could evade. HA!
While pursuing the Japanese whaling factory ship "Nisshin Maru", the Sea Shepherd scout vessel "Brigitte Bardot" was severely damaged by a wave (an ever-widening main hull crack, port-side pontoon destroyed) . The Sea Shepherd Flagship Steve Irwin must reach the damaged vessel and escort it back it back to Australia.
IN YOUR FACE!
LOL!
Another example of Sea Shepherd's maritime incompetence. Next, Watson will be begging for donations which will end up in his pockets.

If you knew anything you would understand the boats stabilising ability is not due to the workings of the Capitan of the vessel. Rather the design....
Shows your maritime incompetence. If you had ever read a book on how to operate a vessel of that size and the conditions of the ocean. You would realise how much of an idiot that statement made you.
@revron77...Are you REALLY trying to say that severe damage to the Brigitte Bardot and potential loss of human/hippie life didn't result from the decisions of the ship's captain to pilot her through rough seas in an effort to illegally interfere with Japan's legal whaling? The boat just broke itself? That's like driving a car into a lake and blaming the car for sinking. Read a book about boats? I've lived and worked on them. It usually takes more than a "wave" to wreck a ship.
See... you clearly do not understand the term freak wave... see a seaman can roughly determine the how rough certain areas of the sea will be based on deepness of the area, wind speed, wind direction, oceanic temperature and atmospheric temperature
During that decision they can determine the risks..... but they cannot determine the risk of a freak wave
And when a freak wave hits... its not the captain that stables the vessel. But the vessel itself. Same with an aircraft.
@revron77...The boat is still broken and you can make excuses for the hippies all you like. I doubt there WAS a "freak wave" (unless you count the 10 freaks on board as they "waved" at the approaching Steve Irwin to rescue them). Yeah, sure, blame a "wave" (I'm sure they will do some slick editing and CG a scary wave into existence for the TV show). Typical Sea Shepherd failure to take responibility for their actions. Same as their failure to take responsibility for the Ady Gil.
@revron77...Cheer up! You and I both know that Paul Watson is going to milk this latest failure for every dollar. He will be begging for donations, asking for much more than the cost of the repairs and pocketing the rest, I imagine. Of course, they won't accomplish much this season on "Whale Wars" and they will need EVEN MORE donations to (not)stop those bad ole' japanese whalers NEXT season and the next season...and the next. It's a lucrative scam. Meanwhile, Japan STILL whales.
@The6sicksikhs Ohhhh and when you cannot steal money from Japanese familys and those most in need in Japan just so you can save face on an international scale. Thats when you need donations. See I find personnaly.. gaining donations from the will of a person is far more noble than stealing money from a Japanese child that has lost his home. In fact the whaling industry is a disgrace to Japan and isn't even Japanese anymore. Its just a show of strength each year shown for what it is.. a sick joke
@revron77...It's called a supplementary budget and nobody seems to mind it too much over here. $30 million alloted for whaling is just a drop in the bucket compared to the $120 BILLION going into reconstruction. As if you care about a homeless Japanese kid. You'd probably cackle with glee at the thought if the kid's dad was a fisherman.
Wait... you feel 30 million is nothing??...... See when you take money. You take it from somewhere. You take it from a family, you take it from a community. And having a attitude of "Ahhh no one will miss it" That shows how much care you have to a Japanese kid. I care far more for that child than you would ever do.
You promote the theift of money from the needy then try to rationalise it and then have the gut to make out you care more for the victims.
@revron77...It would have taken a VERY big wave to wreck the ships that I worked on. The whalers are apparently immune to "waves". Well, listen here, the whale hunt is off to a great start and I can only imagine how long and loudly the Japanese whalers are laughing at Sea Shepherd right now. I know I laughed at the news. It's funny, but you often see people writing "LOL" on the internet but do you think they REALLY do laugh out loud? I can assure you, sometimes they do. LOL !!!
@revron77...So, pretty much you are saying the Sea Shepherd ship getting wrecked was "an act of God"? So, God wants Japan to whale? Maybe the alleged "wave" was really just "karma". You know, how so many douche-bags said that the 3/11 earthquakes and tsunamis in Japan was "karma"? No? Actually, I don't think so either. I think that the Brigitte Bardot's captain just screwed up. I think he "zigged" when he should have "zagged" (or maybe he was busy twisting up a Zig-Zag?).
You do not have to start putting words in my mouth because your desperate for a victory. Or write a bloody autobiography. Clearly if you understood the oceans you wouldn't be half the things you are. The ship is made from fibreglass.... and unless Japanese education fucked you over in terms of understanding science... fibreglass is less condensed. Freak waves are always a risk to any vessel but with this vessel the risks are higher.... understand? BIG DIFFERENCE FROM STEEL..
@revron77...Gee? You mean fiberglass isn't as tough as steel while trying to plow through 20 foot swells. Wow, who'da thunk it? Apparently, the captain and crew of the "Brittle Bar-D'oh" weren't aware of your new discovery in the world of physics and THAT is just ONE of the reasons why they are incompetent.
I've explained to you... a freak wave can hit at any moment to any vessel. The reason its rogue is because it cannot be detected. And as such to blame a sailor or a captain for something they cannot detect or avoid. Many large vessels have been taken by these waves and its due to the design of the ship itself rather than the crew. When a freak wave hits you cannot sit and go "Well its up to the captain to use magic and make the ship stronger"
And if you try to describe operating a vessel as "Zig-Zag" I highly dought that you have ever set foot on a non-commerical vessel. If I put you at the hull of a lighly condensed craft. Then out of the blue a wave that is not flowing with the rest of the ocean hits the port beam... causing damage due to the opposing forces of both the ocean and the freak wave.
@revron77...Ahhh, yes, the "freak wave" again. By the way, sailing a zigzag course is also known as a jibing but we aren't talking about sail boats, are we? No, we are talking about a big steel boat managing to handle 20 ft swells (only 20ft?) and a little fiberglass toy being broken in the same waters by it's dunderheaded crew. Sure, I've spent quite a bit of time on ships. I suppose the CVN-65 or the CV-63 aren't "non-commercial" for you?
@The6sicksikhs Now people could say "Hahah you should of known better" but any captain with more than 4 weeks of experience would laugh at that person for their naval incompetence not to understand that their is a reason things are called "freak waves" because to anyone they are unpredictable and its near impossible to “zag” out of. When that happens it’s the design of the vessel that matters not the handling.I’m honestly sick of trying to explain this to you because you’re an incompetent idiot
If more people do send in money to help (which would be willingly), then yes, Paul would see that those funds do as they were intended. Lest ye forget, HE founded the Sea Shepherd organization! The more money that goes to him, the less money goes into japanese pockets!
Show some gratitude. It's other countries that made Japan rich in the first place. Mostly America. Plus, now other peoples are trying to enlighten japanese about things their government doesn't want them to know
@info145...You don't know what your talking about. Watson will beg for donations again, over-quote the cost of the repairs and pocket the rest. The money going into Japanese pockets doesn't concern me, it's whale meat going into their bellies that makes me smile. Other people want to tell japanese people about their government? That's funny, seeing as "other people" don't even understand their OWN government but they understand Japan's? Whaling isn't a secret here.
Even when whale is not a prime source of protein for 99% of Japan....
Its like you need a home.... but some stupid yanks goes "Ahhh screw that.. it will be all fine cause we have stolen millions from you so that you can buy meat that you don't even like"
And honestly.... your going to tell me I don't understand my own government without even talking to me on it. Wow you are desperate for anything to throw.... even if it results to lying.
@revron77...The boat is still broke. Sea Shepherd has two ships out of the action (one of them will be out for at least a couple of weeks, I should think. Maybe permanently, who knows?) But Watson doesn't mind. It just means more drama for his un-reality show and more money for him. He ain't in the whale-saving business anymore.
EXACTLY WHY... having a TV show has allowed him to cut down on whaling far more than what he could. You can call him all the names of the day but he doesn;t give a fuck. Hes been doing this since he was 18 and hes lived off shit money for years.... soon as he gets a show that has allowed him to be more productive. All you say is "Hes greedy" but hes successful in his area and no name calling on YouTube is going to change that. Its pointless
@The6sicksikhs Hmmm strange how anyone who opposes you fits into a system of mediocrity... In any form.. those who have a different perception immediately are placed within that system of universal greed and hate. Could it be a presumption rather than a true understanding of the person you have so kindly interpreted.
@revron77...You wrote : "In any form.. those who have a different perception immediately are placed within that system of universal greed and hate. Could it be a presumption rather than a true understanding of the person you have so kindly interpreted."
Wow, you have just given a strikingly accurate description of yourself. Uncanny. Do me next!
Animal Planet Networks approached the Sea Shepherds and ASKED to do a show about them. It wasn't Paul's idea. He founded this organization DECADES ago and had been struggling ever since! As for the money he makes, what does it go for?
Note: SSCS was one unnoticeable ship for 40 years. Now there have been four ships (one sunk), a new helicopter, new noticeable paintjobs, and now robot drones.
@info145...As much as you would love for me to eat my words, I will continue eating whale meat instead. Thanks, Sea Shepherd, for repeatedly allowing me to do so! I wish Sea Shepherd good luck in their endeavor to provide another season of quality "un-reality TV" drama to the unwashed masses while never once impeding with my ability, and more importantly, MY CHOICE, to find whale meat in the local supermarket and eat it whenever I choose to do so. Bravo Sea Shepherd and kudos!
"But right now, when the Japs are planting their hatchets in our skulls, it seems like a hell of a time for us to smile and warble: "Brothers!" It is a rather flabby battle cry. If we want to win, we’ve got to kill Japs, whether it depresses John Haynes Holmes or not. We can get palsy-walsy afterward with those Japs that are left." - Theodor Geisel, quoted in Dr. Seuss Goes to War 1948
@info145...Doctor Seuss quotes? It smacks of desperation. Written by the same guy that later decided that Japanese people were okay and dedicated a book to one of them. Is that from where you draw your misguided, xenophobic fear of Japan? P.S. : I wonder how long and loudly the whalers laughed at the fate of "Brittle Bar-D'oh"? Has Sea Shepherd EVER owned a ship that they didn't crash and/or sink? I wouldn't let them pilot a rubber ducky in a kiddie pool !
@info145...Obviously you've been reading the latest news through your patchouli fogged glasses again. I can't wait to hear about Sea Shepherd's next SNAFU!!! Has it occured to you that I might not be as "pro-whaling" as I am "pro-laughing at scumbag scammers and the people that are duped by them"? Sea Shepherd is really off to a shitty start. I wonder : How many whales will die this year due to Sea Shepherd's incompetence. I wonder if I will eat any of their flesh? It's possible.
@info145...So you don't like japanese people. Whoopity goddamn doo!! I know there are COUNTLESS westerners that like Japan and it's culture. But I don't know of a single japanese person that likes YOU. Why WOULD they? You lie about them and belittle them. So, rest assured, they wouldn't like you even if they knew you. ESPECIALLY if they knew you. So, I guess I can understand your fear of Japan. You're just a spiteful and petty person spewing spiteful and petty comments.
@info145..You talk about how a person's government can "walk all over them", yet do you see any "Occupy" Tokyo protests? Really? I don't either. The common japanese person seems, for the most part, pleased with their government. I think it's great that you are SOOOO concerned with the welfare of japanese people when you are in no position to influence it and are neither a legitimate part of their culture nor honestly interested in it. Thanks! Your concern is noted. Happy New Year!
@info145 As much as you would love for me to eat my words, I will continue eating whale meat instead. Thanks, Sea Shepherd, for repeatedly allowing me to do so! I wish Sea Shepherd good luck in their endeavor to provide another season of quality "un-reality TV" drama to the unwashed masses while never once impeding my ability, and more importantly, MY CHOICE, to find whale meat in the local supermarket and eat it whenever I choose to do so. Bravo Sea Shepherd and kudos!
@The6sicksikhs Also usually... thats called a charity. I suppose you feel all charitys are just stupid beggers that need to go away. Like the red cross are all beggers for asking for money to help the Japanese people eh?Ohhh no I forgot... asking for donations is only fine when the great The6sicksikhs decides whats begging and whats not
If you want to call SSCS donations begging.. then don't be a double standards bitch and admit you hate all charitys that don't fullfil your right wing views
As soon as we stop raising hundreds of thousands of cows and and millions of chickens each year to kill and eat them, we have a right to tell Japan to stop. Until then, we need to shut up.
the rearing of cows and chickens is relatively sustainable, but the hunting of whales is definitely not, and is pushing those species to the endangerment.
@HelmutVillam Exactly! Man doesn't learn from history. Climate changes combined with man's overhunting is what made the mammoth extinct. Large animals just don't populate quickly enough to compensate. The Whales are facing the same situation, but with an added bane. Our world's oceans are being polluted. Mercury is becoming a big issue. So all this added up almost guarantees extinction of the Whales!
@info145 The minke whale population is increasing every year. That is despite the fact that minkes are almost the only whales the Japanese take. I guess as long as their are limits it is possible to hunt an animal without causing its extinction.
Why are people so dead set against letting inoffensive uninvasive animals live in peace? Why so against the preservation of our ecosystem and having a clean Earth in our future? Why hate the people who believe in helping our fellow mammals?
Anyone who tries to help with these ideals is always called "crazy". i'll never understand
JAPANESE WHALERS HELP POISON THEIR OWN PEOPLE & CHILDREN: A Scientific panel has ruled that meat from Whales contains dangerous levels of chemicals & PCBs 10-1000 x higher than even fish. "Our advice is not to eat whale meat due to the impact on a child's brains.", said Janneche Utne Skaare, deputy director of the Nordic National Institute. Norway and Denmark have issued advisories against eating whale meat sold by whalers because of brain damage due to toxic mercury. Japan turns a blind eye
Yo sea Shepard try's NOT to put whales on a Japanese main course it is cruel how'd u feel like a guy coming into house with a harpoon gun and next thing ur in a guys sandwich LOL
Tax returns for "Northern Development Associates" show losses of $222,611 in 2000, $201,180 in 2001 and $127,633 in 2002. All the while, "Northern Development Associates" was receiving $900,000 in loans from the tax exempt Sea Shepherd Society. Sea Sheperd OWNED "Northern Development Associates".
So much for "non-profit", huh? Sea Shepherd = SCAM.
Paul Watson and the Sea Shepherd Society: A Financial Expose
According to Sea Shepherd's 2009 IRS tax form, Paul Watson paid HIMSELF over $100,000 dollars from Sea Shepherd donations. So much for "non-profit" huh?
The source is the Sea Shepherd's Tax form. Because they are a "non-profit" organization getting tax-exempt status, it's in the public record and available to anyone. Want a llink?
@DenJSmith...His ship's crew has to pay HIM $1,000.00 dollars each, just to "volunteer". Other than himself, who is he paying? Watson shouldn't be taking a salary from a non-profit organization. If he needs money, maybe he should get a real job.
@The6sicksikhs Ive crewed 3 times and never paid a cent. Back in the 70s you may have had to help out with fuel but that was when Sea Shepherd was a baby and it hasnt been like that for decades. Maybe you should get your facts straight before you post. Most Non profits pay people.

Paul Watson and the Sea Shepherd Society: A Financial Expose
@The6sicksikhs The company is non-profit you dope. All money has to be used to pay the people involved (hence the $100k to the captain) and for the supplies needed to run the company, such as the ship they're using.
@indyschmidt...Nope...there are specific sections of the 990 tax form that detail employee salaries (Part 1, line 15). In 2009, Sea Shepherd paid just over 1 million dollars for 27 employee's salaries ( this doesn't include the 150 volunteers who are supposedly paid nothing but have to give Paul Watson 1 thousand dollars to be a member of his jolly pirate club). According to Sea Shepherd's 2009 990 tax form, Watson reported $96,000 income on his OWN 1099 MISC tax form. He kept the money.
@The6sicksikhs I'd like to apologize for the name calling. I should know better. I guess it still comes down to the organization isn't allowed to make a profit, but that doesn't mean some asshat individual that runs the organization can't make money. That's up to good people to stop donating to them.
@The6sicksikhs Wow what a crock of shit. No1 pays Paul money to be apart of his "club" and there are way more than 150 volunteers. They have almost that number just in New Zealand and Australia has alot more and they only pay a membership of $55 nzd and they get a t shirt with it. If Paul only gets 90,000 im shocked. He deserves alot more than that. Id love to see the stats on Greenpeace and other large orgs. Greenpeace pays almost everyone. Its such a stupid thing to bring up.
@Stopthegreed...What I said is NOT a crock of shit. That info came directly from Sea Shepherd's 990 Tax Form. Sea Shepherd reported paying only 27 employees and it was also Sea Shepherd that reported 150 volunteers. So if there is a crock of shit somewhere, it's not mine. According to their 990 Tax form. Sea Shepherd paid 27 employees just over 1 million dollars. And Paul Watson paid himself over 100 thousand. I'm not making this up. You want the link. Then you can straighten YOUR facts.
@The6sicksikhs But who cares? 100 thousand for all the work Paul Watson does seems really under paid. Hes never at home. Ive never heard of "volunteers" being paid. Thats strange as they are volunteering! Youd have to prove that 150 volunteers get paid. Show me the link.
Greenpeace has over 300 million in bank accounts, pays almost everyone, spent over 21 million in mail drops asking for money in NZ and Australia. Spends spend spends and your complaining Sea Shepherd paid 1 million to 27 ppl ?
@Stopthegreed...You are confused. I never said that volunteers get paid and I am not complaining that 27 employees DID get paid. I am saying that Paul Watson pays himself out of donations to Sea Shepherd. That's all.
I am saying that Sea Shepherd funnelled donation money to a business called Northern Development Associates, a company which Sea Shepherd owned wholly. Not illegal, just dirty. Link? Tried to post it. It's available to the public. I'm not your secretary. Find it yourself.
@The6sicksikhs Hows Paul to get paid if not out of Donated money?? Crew havent had to pay to actually crew for decades. And you said you were happy to show the link and now your telling me to look for it myself. Please..Really Dont post shit unless your shit can be backed up and is true. And if your not complaining that 27 employees are paid why bring it up?
Your whole argument is so lame.
Like i said why dont you go hassle Greenpeace. So Paul pays himself wow like everyone didnt know.
@Stopthegreed...If Fat-ass Paul Watson wants to get paid, maybe he should go get a job. I told your dumb ass that I tried to post the link and YouTube wouldn't let me post the URL. Not my problem. You want to refute it? The burden of proof is on YOU. It's your ball. Go do a search for "Sea Shepherd's 2009 Taxes". While you are at it, look up "Ann Johnston and Pritam Singh". I brought up "27 employees" because YOUR dumb ass tried to say that the 100k Watson took was to pay THEM. It was not.
@The6sicksikhs LOL What? the burden of Proof is on me? LMAO.. I dont have to prove shit... Like i said who gives a crap if Paul is paid. I think everyone knows he doesnt do this for Free.. And read back before calling other people dumb asses. Where did i say Paul pays the 27 people out of his 100k ??? I didnt. All im saying is yes Wow Paul pays himself and wow 27 people are paid Wow Wow Wow. Totally lame As know 1 cares. But thanks for the update
@Stopthegreed...Tax returns for "Northern Development Associates" show losses of $222,611 in 2000, $201,180 in 2001 and $127,633 in 2002. All the while, "Northern Development Associates" was receiving $900,000 in loans from the tax exempt Sea Shepherd Society. Sea Sheperd OWNED "Northern Development Associates".
@Stopthegreed...."One of Sea Shepherd’s biggest financial supporters is Ms. Ann Johnston, wife of Florida land developer Mr. Pritam Singh (aka Paul LaBombard). Singh was banned from banking for life in 1995 and ordered to pay $1.2 million dollars by federal bank regulators for his business financing activities."
" Both Singh and his wife are very closely connected with both the Sea Shepherd Society and the Watson family"
@Stopthegreed...According to the Key News Journal, Singh has also been investigated by the FBI for his questionable business practices and a Key West attorney has filed a lawsuit against him, alleging almost 20 years of criminal activity -- including racketeering and fraud.
- Both Singh is very closely connected with both the Sea Shepherd Society and the Watson family and has served on Sea Shepherd's board of directors.
@Stopthegreed..."According to sources, a search of Monroe County, Florida (Marathon, Key West) records show that Sea Shepherd sold a "Single Family Home" at 5 Crane Blvd., Sugarloaf Key, FL for $850,000 on June 2, 1999. A mapquest and 1999 satellite photo search find no structures at this location."
@The6sicksikhs Wow "sources" Wow wonder who those are?? Any ideas ?? Wow I love mystery stories. You have a great one. You could write a Fiction and not post links.( or not) Make a cool book if you put a picture up of an empty land lot. You should add a murder and make it a spookie murder mystery book. Wow so cool.
In 2002 the Sea Shepherd Society passed out $35,000 in grants. Despite IRS requirements to do so, the Society did not divulge the recipients of those grants.
@The6sicksikhs It was probably grants to The Whaling Fleet. They need the money. Have you looked into it? maybe add some aliens. Make such a great story. Oh like i said...know one gives a shit. Come up with something interesting
@Stopthegreed...Regardless of ANY dumb argument you or I could have, Japan is ready to whale again this season. They WILL hunt whales, someone WILL eat them and Paul Watson and his circus act will bob around in the ocean for a bit doing nothing and try to pass it off as "reality TV". Japan STILL whales and I think that's great. Lame but true, that's my argument.
@The6sicksikhs At last you have something right. The Fleet is ready. So is Sea Shepherd. Bigger stronger and faster. If "bobbing" around means chasing the fleet around preventing them from killing Whales and sending them home once again owing millions and not getting anywhere near the number they even need to break even. Then yes Sea Shepherd will once again Bob around costing the Japanese Whaling fleet millions. Yes your completely right. But you still dont even have an arguement
@Stopthegreed...Believe what you want. The info is available if you will only open your eyes and look for it. As a tax-exempt organization, Sea Shepherd's 990 tax form is available to the public, as are it's other financial records. Go look it up yourself, you silly ass. But it doesn't matter if you believe or not. Japan will continue to whale and I will will eat whale when I want it. Go on and believe Sea Shepherd is costing Japan millions. They whale every year, so it must be worth it.
@The6sicksikhs No 1 cares. Sorry but they just dont, Sea Shepherd gets results. Japan has openly said Sea Shepherd is costing them Millions each year. Its a perfect scenario. Japan may try and Whale. Sea Shepherd will continue to stop them and cost them Millions. And lives will be saved. You may think your Whale sandwich only costs you a few bucks but remember...your paying millions through your taxes for every bite. And any mercury you ingest is eating away at any last brain cell you still have
@Stopthegreed..Apparently, you think you and I are going to have this dumb little back and forth diatribe. You are wrong. We are not. Go on believing whatever you glean from the internet or see on Animal Planet and whatever bullshit Paul Watson spoon-feeds you. I live here. Whale meat is on the menu. You ain't gonna change it. Sea Shepherd can continue with their money-making farce and you can believe it. I don't care. That's YOUR reality. I see the reality every time I go the supermarket.
@The6sicksikhs Cheers..Good to see you admit its about the Whale meat being on the menu. At least you not going on about all the great "research" you guys get. Eat what you want. If it cost you all a small fortune to keep doing so i feel good to know that in some small way ive played a part in that. It makes going down all that much better
@Mrxander93...If whales go extinct (and if you look at the IUCN Redlist you will see that most whale species populations are increasing) it won't be because of whaling but will be because of climate change and human encroachment. Whaling isn't a big industry in Japan. Not anymore. But they ARE waiting and hoping to whale commercially again. Is that good? Is that bad? I don't really care.

@Macquarie25...I just read your most recent comment...you know, the one about the unicorns? It went like this : I squinted...then laughed...then squinted again to make sure....
You ain't half bad. I'm just going to have to leave it at that and wish you the best.

@Macquarie25...Funny...just a minute ago, you were like "I don't google" and then 2 seconds later you are like "Okay!...I just pulled up the...!!!! You don't google my ass!
@Macquarie25...I am not talking about article 6 of the Antarctic Treaty. I am talking about a seperate but incorporated inclusion to the treaty. Okay...let me spoon feed it to you. "The Agreed Measures for the Conservation Of Antarctic Fauna and Flora" is a PROVISION/AGREEMENT of the Antarctic Treaty. Look at ARTICLE 6 of "The Agreed Measures for the Conservation Of Antarctic Fauna and "and the truth will set you free.
@Macquarie25...I got the Antarctic Treat document from the United Nations website. Where did YOU get it from? Did you save up the Proof of Purchase seals from "Whales Wars" DVD's and got it free from Sea Shepherd? Stupid.
@Macquarie25...You are fucking retarded. I am not surprised you put your brother in the hospital over YouTube comments. If you have any other brothers left, maybe you better tell them to leave the house and quick.

@Macquarie25...Thanks for illustrating how ignorant you are. Now I know what I am working with. You see, the Antarctic Treaty is the very thing the ENABLES Japan to hunt in the sanctuary. Don't believe me? Google it, you stupid shitnozzle. I CAN'T fuck my mom because I.T.B.F.Y
@Macquarie25...Antarctic Treaty, "ARTICLE 6 of The Agreed Measures for the Conservation Of Antarctic Fauna and Flora...Says research hunting is okay with permission. Japan gets permission EVERY whaling season from the International Whaling Commission. You fail.
@Macquarie25...Yes...your mom IS the mother of a retard. Have fun with your "python" but just remember you will go blind if you "research" it too much.
@Macquarie25...And guess what, dickfuck...The Antarctic Treaty says Japan can whale there. NOBODY owns the Antarctic Ocean. And in the Antarctic Treaty, it makes provisions for hunting animals for research. Japan is doing so. They are researching to determine when they can resume whaling commercially.
@Macquarie25 ...Dude,...I didn't want to say it before but...I think...maybe you are fuckin' retarded. Shouldn't you be putting on your helmet with the drool cup attached to the chin strap and going out to wait by the mailbox for the "short bus"?

@Macquarie25..."Stonewall"? I think you don't understand the word...or maybe you think I don't. But I do. I haven't stonewalled anyone who supports Sea Shepherd. Instead, I STYMIE them. Bring your argument, but you better come correct or I will slap it down. Racism? When one group of people takes umbrage at the actions of another group of people and then proceeds to sling racial epithets, it's racism. Comprende? When another group (Sea Shepherd) encourages this behavior it's "Whale Wars".
@Macquarie25...You said "G.F.Y.M"? Yes, I know Girls Find Me Manly, but thanks for the reminder. Yes, you ought to know about the differences between a debate and a stone wall. I debated about Sea Shepherd's finances and their "creative bookkeeping" and you ran into a stone wall. Climb over it, if you can but don't just stand there telling it "Girls Find You Manly".

A) "What drives whale eating in Japan? Culture? Propaganda? General MacArthur? Soon, Japanese ships will return to the Antarctic for a cargo of whale meat in 4 months of “lethal research” condemned by activists and even Japan’s closest trade partners and allies. Foreign criticism and harassment from SSCS have frustrated the fleet recently but it hasn’t ended Japan's believing its right to a 400 year tradition of eating whales. Japan’s persistence to international opposition is a mystery to many.
B) Diplomatically and financially, Japan has nothing to gain exploiting a loophole in the IWC's moratorium on commercial whaling allowing them to kill 1000 whales yearly. It's clear the fleet is not satisfying the appetite for whale meat back home. While some older Japanese look back fondly on a legal whaling time in the 1940s to 1960s, younger people wonder why anyone would prefer the chewy, oily flesh over chicken, pork and beef." w w w. globalpost. com/dispatch/japan/100407/japan-whale-meat

Even the nation’s primary public broadcasting organization, NHK, didn’t report the story until nearly two days after it broke elsewhere, and then offered up only the barest of bones." the-diplomat. com

That would save a lot of fuel and provide with some nice underwater environments.
info145 4 weeks ago
@info145..Ummm, Dude, I'm pretty sure the Steve Irwin is headed back to Australia, according respectable news sources. It seems that the blundering crew of the "Brittle Bar-D'oh" demolished their ship on "a wave" while recklessly pursuing the japanese whaling factory ship (apparently, the "waves" are no problem for the highly competent crew of the japanese vessel). How many ships has Sea Shepherd lost in the "Fail Wars" now? They should just sink themselves in port and save the fuel.

@The6sicksikhs
If you knew anything you would understand the boats stabilising ability is not due to the workings of the Capitan of the vessel. Rather the design....
Shows your maritime incompetence. If you had ever read a book on how to operate a vessel of that size and the conditions of the ocean. You would realise how much of an idiot that statement made you.
revron77 4 weeks ago
@revron77...Are you REALLY trying to say that severe damage to the Brigitte Bardot and potential loss of human/hippie life didn't result from the decisions of the ship's captain to pilot her through rough seas in an effort to illegally interfere with Japan's legal whaling? The boat just broke itself? That's like driving a car into a lake and blaming the car for sinking. Read a book about boats? I've lived and worked on them. It usually takes more than a "wave" to wreck a ship.
The6sicksikhs 4 weeks ago
@The6sicksikhs
See... you clearly do not understand the term freak wave... see a seaman can roughly determine the how rough certain areas of the sea will be based on deepness of the area, wind speed, wind direction, oceanic temperature and atmospheric temperature
During that decision they can determine the risks..... but they cannot determine the risk of a freak wave
And when a freak wave hits... its not the captain that stables the vessel. But the vessel itself. Same with an aircraft.
revron77 4 weeks ago
@revron77...The boat is still broken and you can make excuses for the hippies all you like. I doubt there WAS a "freak wave" (unless you count the 10 freaks on board as they "waved" at the approaching Steve Irwin to rescue them). Yeah, sure, blame a "wave" (I'm sure they will do some slick editing and CG a scary wave into existence for the TV show). Typical Sea Shepherd failure to take responibility for their actions. Same as their failure to take responsibility for the Ady Gil.
The6sicksikhs 4 weeks ago
@revron77...Cheer up! You and I both know that Paul Watson is going to milk this latest failure for every dollar. He will be begging for donations, asking for much more than the cost of the repairs and pocketing the rest, I imagine. Of course, they won't accomplish much this season on "Whale Wars" and they will need EVEN MORE donations to (not)stop those bad ole' japanese whalers NEXT season and the next season...and the next. It's a lucrative scam. Meanwhile, Japan STILL whales.
The6sicksikhs 4 weeks ago
@The6sicksikhs Ohhhh and when you cannot steal money from Japanese familys and those most in need in Japan just so you can save face on an international scale. Thats when you need donations. See I find personnaly.. gaining donations from the will of a person is far more noble than stealing money from a Japanese child that has lost his home. In fact the whaling industry is a disgrace to Japan and isn't even Japanese anymore. Its just a show of strength each year shown for what it is.. a sick joke
revron77 4 weeks ago
@revron77...It's called a supplementary budget and nobody seems to mind it too much over here. $30 million alloted for whaling is just a drop in the bucket compared to the $120 BILLION going into reconstruction. As if you care about a homeless Japanese kid. You'd probably cackle with glee at the thought if the kid's dad was a fisherman.
The6sicksikhs 4 weeks ago
@The6sicksikhs
Wait... you feel 30 million is nothing??...... See when you take money. You take it from somewhere. You take it from a family, you take it from a community. And having a attitude of "Ahhh no one will miss it" That shows how much care you have to a Japanese kid. I care far more for that child than you would ever do.
You promote the theift of money from the needy then try to rationalise it and then have the gut to make out you care more for the victims.
revron77 4 weeks ago
@The6sicksikhs
And honestly.... you don't think a wave can wreck a ship.... hmm I guess you worked on cargo rather than operation when you were at sea.
revron77 4 weeks ago
@revron77...It would have taken a VERY big wave to wreck the ships that I worked on. The whalers are apparently immune to "waves". Well, listen here, the whale hunt is off to a great start and I can only imagine how long and loudly the Japanese whalers are laughing at Sea Shepherd right now. I know I laughed at the news. It's funny, but you often see people writing "LOL" on the internet but do you think they REALLY do laugh out loud? I can assure you, sometimes they do. LOL !!!
The6sicksikhs 4 weeks ago
@revron77...So, pretty much you are saying the Sea Shepherd ship getting wrecked was "an act of God"? So, God wants Japan to whale? Maybe the alleged "wave" was really just "karma". You know, how so many douche-bags said that the 3/11 earthquakes and tsunamis in Japan was "karma"? No? Actually, I don't think so either. I think that the Brigitte Bardot's captain just screwed up. I think he "zigged" when he should have "zagged" (or maybe he was busy twisting up a Zig-Zag?).
The6sicksikhs 4 weeks ago
@The6sicksikhs
Freak waves are always a risk to any vessel but with this vessel the risks are higher.... understand? BIG DIFFERENCE FROM STEEL..
revron77 4 weeks ago
@revron77...Gee? You mean fiberglass isn't as tough as steel while trying to plow through 20 foot swells. Wow, who'da thunk it? Apparently, the captain and crew of the "Brittle Bar-D'oh" weren't aware of your new discovery in the world of physics and THAT is just ONE of the reasons why they are incompetent.
The6sicksikhs 4 weeks ago
@The6sicksikhs
When a freak wave hits you cannot sit and go "Well its up to the captain to use magic and make the ship stronger"
revron77 4 weeks ago
@The6sicksikhs
And if you try to describe operating a vessel as "Zig-Zag" I highly dought that you have ever set foot on a non-commerical vessel. If I put you at the hull of a lighly condensed craft. Then out of the blue a wave that is not flowing with the rest of the ocean hits the port beam... causing damage due to the opposing forces of both the ocean and the freak wave.
revron77 4 weeks ago
@revron77...Ahhh, yes, the "freak wave" again. By the way, sailing a zigzag course is also known as a jibing but we aren't talking about sail boats, are we? No, we are talking about a big steel boat managing to handle 20 ft swells (only 20ft?) and a little fiberglass toy being broken in the same waters by it's dunderheaded crew. Sure, I've spent quite a bit of time on ships. I suppose the CVN-65 or the CV-63 aren't "non-commercial" for you?
The6sicksikhs 4 weeks ago
@The6sicksikhs Now people could say "Hahah you should of known better" but any captain with more than 4 weeks of experience would laugh at that person for their naval incompetence not to understand that their is a reason things are called "freak waves" because to anyone they are unpredictable and its near impossible to “zag” out of. When that happens it’s the design of the vessel that matters not the handling.I’m honestly sick of trying to explain this to you because you’re an incompetent idiot

Bravo Sea Shepherd and kudos!

the rearing of cows and chickens is relatively sustainable, but the hunting of whales is definitely not, and is pushing those species to the endangerment.
HelmutVillam 2 months ago
@HelmutVillam Exactly! Man doesn't learn from history. Climate changes combined with man's overhunting is what made the mammoth extinct. Large animals just don't populate quickly enough to compensate. The Whales are facing the same situation, but with an added bane. Our world's oceans are being polluted. Mercury is becoming a big issue. So all this added up almost guarantees extinction of the Whales!
info145 2 months ago
@info145 The minke whale population is increasing every year. That is despite the fact that minkes are almost the only whales the Japanese take. I guess as long as their are limits it is possible to hunt an animal without causing its extinction.

The6sicksikhs 3 months ago
@The6sicksikhs Is that a fair salary for the captain in his position? If so, what's the problem? If you say no what are you basing it on?
Obviously non-profits have to pay employees.
DenJSmith 3 months ago
@DenJSmith...His ship's crew has to pay HIM $1,000.00 dollars each, just to "volunteer". Other than himself, who is he paying? Watson shouldn't be taking a salary from a non-profit organization. If he needs money, maybe he should get a real job.

@The6sicksikhs Ive crewed 3 times and never paid a cent. Back in the 70s you may have had to help out with fuel but that was when Sea Shepherd was a baby and it hasnt been like that for decades. Maybe you should get your facts straight before you post. Most Non profits pay people.

@The6sicksikhs The company is non-profit you dope. All money has to be used to pay the people involved (hence the $100k to the captain) and for the supplies needed to run the company, such as the ship they're using.
indyschmidt 3 months ago
@indyschmidt...Nope...there are specific sections of the 990 tax form that detail employee salaries (Part 1, line 15). In 2009, Sea Shepherd paid just over 1 million dollars for 27 employee's salaries ( this doesn't include the 150 volunteers who are supposedly paid nothing but have to give Paul Watson 1 thousand dollars to be a member of his jolly pirate club). According to Sea Shepherd's 2009 990 tax form, Watson reported $96,000 income on his OWN 1099 MISC tax form. He kept the money.
The6sicksikhs 3 months ago
@The6sicksikhs I'd like to apologize for the name calling. I should know better. I guess it still comes down to the organization isn't allowed to make a profit, but that doesn't mean some asshat individual that runs the organization can't make money. That's up to good people to stop donating to them.
indyschmidt 3 months ago
@The6sicksikhs Wow what a crock of shit. No1 pays Paul money to be apart of his "club" and there are way more than 150 volunteers. They have almost that number just in New Zealand and Australia has alot more and they only pay a membership of $55 nzd and they get a t shirt with it. If Paul only gets 90,000 im shocked. He deserves alot more than that. Id love to see the stats on Greenpeace and other large orgs. Greenpeace pays almost everyone. Its such a stupid thing to bring up.
Stopthegreed 3 months ago
@Stopthegreed...What I said is NOT a crock of shit. That info came directly from Sea Shepherd's 990 Tax Form. Sea Shepherd reported paying only 27 employees and it was also Sea Shepherd that reported 150 volunteers. So if there is a crock of shit somewhere, it's not mine. According to their 990 Tax form. Sea Shepherd paid 27 employees just over 1 million dollars. And Paul Watson paid himself over 100 thousand. I'm not making this up. You want the link. Then you can straighten YOUR facts.
The6sicksikhs 3 months ago
@The6sicksikhs But who cares? 100 thousand for all the work Paul Watson does seems really under paid. Hes never at home. Ive never heard of "volunteers" being paid. Thats strange as they are volunteering! Youd have to prove that 150 volunteers get paid. Show me the link.
Greenpeace has over 300 million in bank accounts, pays almost everyone, spent over 21 million in mail drops asking for money in NZ and Australia. Spends spend spends and your complaining Sea Shepherd paid 1 million to 27 ppl ?
Stopthegreed 3 months ago
@Stopthegreed...You are confused. I never said that volunteers get paid and I am not complaining that 27 employees DID get paid. I am saying that Paul Watson pays himself out of donations to Sea Shepherd. That's all.
I am saying that Sea Shepherd funnelled donation money to a business called Northern Development Associates, a company which Sea Shepherd owned wholly. Not illegal, just dirty. Link? Tried to post it. It's available to the public. I'm not your secretary. Find it yourself.
The6sicksikhs 3 months ago
@The6sicksikhs Hows Paul to get paid if not out of Donated money?? Crew havent had to pay to actually crew for decades. And you said you were happy to show the link and now your telling me to look for it myself. Please..Really Dont post shit unless your shit can be backed up and is true. And if your not complaining that 27 employees are paid why bring it up?
Your whole argument is so lame.
Like i said why dont you go hassle Greenpeace. So Paul pays himself wow like everyone didnt know.
Stopthegreed 3 months ago
@Stopthegreed...If Fat-ass Paul Watson wants to get paid, maybe he should go get a job. I told your dumb ass that I tried to post the link and YouTube wouldn't let me post the URL. Not my problem. You want to refute it? The burden of proof is on YOU. It's your ball. Go do a search for "Sea Shepherd's 2009 Taxes". While you are at it, look up "Ann Johnston and Pritam Singh". I brought up "27 employees" because YOUR dumb ass tried to say that the 100k Watson took was to pay THEM. It was not.
The6sicksikhs 2 months ago

@Stopthegreed...Regardless of ANY dumb argument you or I could have, Japan is ready to whale again this season. They WILL hunt whales, someone WILL eat them and Paul Watson and his circus act will bob around in the ocean for a bit doing nothing and try to pass it off as "reality TV". Japan STILL whales and I think that's great. Lame but true, that's my argument.
The6sicksikhs 2 months ago
@The6sicksikhs At last you have something right. The Fleet is ready. So is Sea Shepherd. Bigger stronger and faster. If "bobbing" around means chasing the fleet around preventing them from killing Whales and sending them home once again owing millions and not getting anywhere near the number they even need to break even. Then yes Sea Shepherd will once again Bob around costing the Japanese Whaling fleet millions. Yes your completely right. But you still dont even have an arguement
Stopthegreed 2 months ago
@Stopthegreed...Believe what you want. The info is available if you will only open your eyes and look for it. As a tax-exempt organization, Sea Shepherd's 990 tax form is available to the public, as are it's other financial records. Go look it up yourself, you silly ass. But it doesn't matter if you believe or not. Japan will continue to whale and I will will eat whale when I want it. Go on and believe Sea Shepherd is costing Japan millions. They whale every year, so it must be worth it.
The6sicksikhs 2 months ago
@The6sicksikhs No 1 cares. Sorry but they just dont, Sea Shepherd gets results. Japan has openly said Sea Shepherd is costing them Millions each year. Its a perfect scenario. Japan may try and Whale. Sea Shepherd will continue to stop them and cost them Millions. And lives will be saved. You may think your Whale sandwich only costs you a few bucks but remember...your paying millions through your taxes for every bite. And any mercury you ingest is eating away at any last brain cell you still have

Mrxander93 2 months ago
@Mrxander93...If whales go extinct (and if you look at the IUCN Redlist you will see that most whale species populations are increasing) it won't be because of whaling but will be because of climate change and human encroachment. Whaling isn't a big industry in Japan. Not anymore. But they ARE waiting and hoping to whale commercially again. Is that good? Is that bad? I don't really care.

Japan’s persistence to international opposition is a mystery to many.
info145 3 months ago 2
B) Diplomatically and financially, Japan has nothing to gain exploiting a loophole in the IWC's moratorium on commercial whaling allowing them to kill 1000 whales yearly. It's clear the fleet is not satisfying the appetite for whale meat back home. While some older Japanese look back fondly on a legal whaling time in the 1940s to 1960s, younger people wonder why anyone would prefer the chewy, oily flesh over chicken, pork and beef." w w w. globalpost. com/dispatch/japan/100407/japan-whale-meat
