  • this shit is fucking slow

  • Now I know what I want to do the rest of my life.

  • It isnt a robot. Its a machine. It isnt controlling itself like a robot would. Its controlled by a human.

  • one word: Militarization.

  • This machine never made it into production. It was designed at the behest of Timberjack by Plustech in Finland. When John Deere bought Timberjack the project was scrapped.

  • wtf...u just dont need it....?!

  • LOL Lets not put a footprint in the ground but cut down a big fucking tree. Nice going assfucks,

  • @webmastertool It's better than cutting down even more trees to make a road for an bigger machine, and it reduces erosion. But we all appreciate the irony.

  • This is pretty cool, nice to see things we use to see in anime come into real use

  • very stable, at least the driver wont be shaken to death

  • cool machine!!!

but it is only moving in about 5km per hour, to slow.

  • @quadarinxxx its in the woods....

  • @AskJoe1 i can see that, but can it go any faster?

what is it ment to do. just be a cool robot?

  • @quadarinxxx yeah, sure, John Deere spend millions developping it, just to upload a video in Youtube later....

and it can drive at 400 m/ph. In fact, there will be no cars at Nascar anymore, they will be driving those crickets robots next year.

  • @quadarinxxx It's not like the tree is going to outrun it

  • It says in description that the machine is to reduce the logging roads, so how many tonnes it´s can carry?

Cause machinery and loggers are able to work with no roads but roads are needed to get timber out from the woods, so how much the cricket can carry?

  • pimp

  • if i'd see something like this swingin it's ass in my backyard, i would shit myself....

  • it looks like a giant cricket hahahahaha

    STEP ON IT!!!

  • Wouldn't tank treads be more efficient.

  • Wot a kickass machine ! All u wankers who hve no idea wot it's like to go to work each day hoping u come home alive would appreciate the engineering that's gone into a machine like this

  • ya and your going to build your house out of what cow dung good luck asshole im sure people could pick your job appart if you have one.

  • you just don't have a clue do you . im sure you live in a house with wood so don't get all self righteous. and if your worried about fuel stop huffing so much.

  • wtf lol

  • I wonder how many peoples' jobs that thing will replace

  • < 1

  • ...er, none? Instead of using a tractor and getting stuck, they can use a legged vehicle now... I do not see how that replaces jobs...

  • The leg movement algorithm is fucked. Bugs can have at least 3 legs off the ground and have a base rate of 4 legs moving when traveling somewhere.

  • @quietthomas 2 years later... ;-)

im sure bugs weigh a good deal less than this, even when scaled right. plus one of the selling points for the machine were that it has minimal soil impact. all that weight through only 2 of its legs and she'd impact plenty...

    just guessing tho tbh :D

  • @frackcha Thanks for the timely reply! :P

As with all my youtube comments; at the 1 year mark I will completely disagree with myself. At the two year mark I see my own complete idiocy! Leg movement algorithm? What do I know about algorithms? Or for that matter working with large AWESOME HEXAPODS! It's a damn fine machine, and I had no place criticizing it's sexy gams or grace.

  • @quietthomas dude.. your honesty is a rare, real and genuine treat!!! especially when it comes to the sausage swinging contest that seems to reign supreme in the youtube comment section... it IS a damn fine machine... it makes me sad when i consider the fact that i grow older, and technology continues to go forth and multiply!!!

take care of you and yours..

  • or... we can walk =]

  • xD... that's the biggest criket i've ever seen

  • Ha Ha, yeah! I could imagine how big a Salamander would have to be to eat that one lol!

  • A walk in the park

  • A CHALLENGER HAS APPROACHED

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

  • wut ?

  • lol

  • METAL GEAR?!?

  • what the... =O

  • ngunz... that machine is not slow at all !

  • too slow

  • Lol, give it armor, a gun turret and put it in the armored core! Jk

  • Looks like a cute bug. :)

  • Poor driver. How long does it take to get home with this thing?

  • Sooner then driving a huge tractor trough dense forest

  • the damage done to the forestground by wheeled timber harvesters is enormous. this machine instead does nearly no damage at all, like horses, which are, for the same reasons, sometimes still in use for moving timber today.

  • so what was the point of that again? it didnt do anything except walk and that would be such high maintence

  • What's the point?? Why not give it wheels instead?

  • Because wheels do more damage to the environment.

  • Oh, like men will care what the environment looks like during a war? NO way. Wheels provide a more manueverable surface, and faster. But yes, I appreciate the weird tech that was built. I can't wait till they have 2 legged tanks like in th game

    'battlefield 2142'. Someday...

  • The walking configuration is also great for tramsit on steep terrain. Amd I am not a hardcore environmentalist hypocrite who wants to prevent global warming and drives around in a hummer or an SUV.

  • wow cool that looks awesome what was it for though? I never knew of vehicles looking like creatures.

  • i saw a documantary about this kinda robotics. some of designers are says "we should copy nature. nature did well and we have to copy it..." and another group says "no. we can design something new and better."

  • oh well the copy nature idea is interesting. I just still can't believe that machine in the vid exist! It looks so cool. What documentary is that you're talking about?

  • There is no such thing as "copying nature". We are nature.

  • you got to point dude. dont try to show your iq.

  • I'm not showing my IQ. It's a simple statement. Sorry if your ego was offended by it.

  • no were robots

  • i prefer hiking, but nice robot!

  • THAT'S awesome

  • yuuuuhhhhhhhhhhh ohhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaa

  • I need more video of this! It is awesome!

  • it moves way to slow its not worth giving up your fast tracter for

  • Good grief, this reminds me of the thunderbird episode where there's a machine very similar in design cutting down trees that falls into a crater, unreal.

  • Beats having to build a frigging road. Besides it's going downhill on a pretty steep slope in the middle of a forest. No ones gonna be flooring the pedal in anything in that situation.

  • Manufacture this?? wtf is it really that priceefficient? Its moving like 0,5 km/h and it has to have a huge battery if its going deep into the woods?

  • I have a feeling it wasnt running on batteries

  • lol

  • woah....what does it do in the logging industry? Is this a real piece of equipment? Who manufactures it?

I would love to see more video of it.

  • It harvests trees. Timberjack, a subsidiary of John Deere, manufactures it.
