I bought it from Singtel at $548 a month after the launch.

It will be cheaper now. Just wait for singtelshop(dot)com to start offering the Omnia. The cheapest phones are always the subsidized phones from Singtel. Just camp for the promotion like I did.

Without contract will be quite expensive. I dont recommend going to Sim Lim to buy as they will sell quite expensive.

PSD, PPT is a nono unless u install 3rd party apps. (Are you crazy?! Photoshop document on PDA? Do-able but slow! More like PDF!)

DOC and TXT yes. But with doc, you may lose your text formatting.

Actually all formats you mentioned are editable on PPC (PocketPC) but you need to take time to find out which 3rd party apps edit what.

1. If you can find unsecured WiFi or if your country has free Wireless networks for use at all public places like in Singapore, yes.

2. If you have an unlimited 3G data plan, or if you don't mind playing for the data costs, then yes.

no. the verizon one has no front vga camera for 3g video calls.

this is the Singapore/Asia version and it comes unlocked.

verizon's one i believe it comes locked and shipped with shitty rom.

Personally, I don't use any equalizer for my Omnia though I used to use it on my previous phone. I found that the Omnia wasn't really good at playing mp3s. It wasn't loud and powerful enough thru headphones.

But one thing I'm sure is that although HTC devices have their dedicated video ram, they were found to be less effective in playing videos by a pocketnow(dot)com. Google for HTC: Old Tricks and An Old Dog. Thats the title of the article.

Read that might be useful for your decision.

The Renoir might have 8MP but it will take donkey years to render the picture and store it with its underpowered CPU (as usual with non-smartphones).

Don't worry with Omnia though. I can tell you its almost instant. With currently the fastest processor for Windows Mobile (624Mhz), it will outgun any HTC TP or Xperia X1 in the multimedia section.

Yes, actually you're right.

The only drawback that the Omnia has compared to the Renoir is the camera. But likewise, everything else in the Omnia is so much better than the Renoir!

I would say the extra megapixel wouldnt make much of a difference. If you value pictures so much, go for a DSLR. If you just want to take casual (decent) pix and have the option to mess with WinMobile, Omnia is the phone to go for.

Afterall 5MP ain't that bad.(lower pix rendering time = less shutter lag).

Apparently, there will be two versions of the new handset: i900 and i908, the latter coming under Samsung's AnyCall brand. There's no word yet about the difference between the two devices. Most probably, since they look just the same, the i908 comes with connectivity features that allow it to work on the Asian mobile networks (like the South Korean and the Japanese ones), while the i900 is created to work worldwide.

it depends on the page you are loading not the internet connection. i have a 8mbps connection and yet it loads a page with a lot of pictures quite slowly. otherwise it loads quickly.

Firstly in Singapore, due to full number portability (which means u can change provider anytime and use your old number), all the providers are dishing out HUGE REBATES on phones to retain their customer. Here in Singapore, the Omnia is retailing for $648 with 2yr plan and I bought it online with a 2yr Plan for $548. With free vouchers and GPS navigation software.

Without plan is $1098/$1048 in Sing dollars. For cheap Omnia u can head to ppcsg trade forum. Google it and its cheap there!

If i were to quote a flaw with the Omnia, it would be the screen. 240x400 with only 65k colours. But its passable for watching videos. Diamond does not have enough memory for both music and video and files and can't watch divx videos on its own and needs to install extra player. iPhone can't watch divx videos for sure but "iPod" wise, its good..

Multimedia-wise ranking is Omnia>iPhone>Diamond.

I see that you are using SPB. How were you able to place the mobile shell on the top of the home screen? Whenever I use Samsung Today 2, I am only able to place it on the bottom. Also which PDA firmware do you have?

i recorded using my Samsung L73 Camera. Got AVI and i converted to WMV and edited to cut it down to 10mins and exported in ASF.

ASF and WMV are smaller in sizes so you dont get a hard time trying to upload them to youtube.
