Having been born on the Cajun Prairie (Eunice, LA) and hunted and fished on bayous until I was 20 years old, I can tell y'all that true Cajuns do not have a "red neck." We have brown necks, from the brown waters of the bayous.

We got white Cajuns and Black Cajuns.

We get along fairly well, except for the occasional Cajun Family Fight.

We know some of y'all got some other name for us Cajuns. That's all right, we got some other names for y'all too!!

That's because they descended from the best! We Acadians who are still in Acadia are just like Cajuns minus the crawfish and alligators! We still know how to party like the best! Instead of Mardi Gras, we have "Le quinze août"! (15th of August) Which is our official yearly Acadian holiday that everyone gets drunk out of their minds, and pretty much anything goes! The main difference between us and Cajuns is that they have mostly stopped talking french as their first language.

Mate can you tell me how to get a Cajun English accent? I'm European but I'm moving to the US in three years. Hopefully to Louisiana(Even if only for a year). I speak French if that's necessary. I think it's one of the best accents you can have. Europeans (I mean UK and Ireland-can't speak for anyone else)will love your accent if you ever come(normal American accents not so much though).

cajuns are NOT rednecks, it is a way of life, and unless you were born and raised here you could never understand, much less know what you have missed. Most do speak french and we are NOT like new orleans which is mostly creole. we call grandmothers momo and God fathers paran. We love our food, family and culture which is unique. No one else in the world can do it like a real kajun can. Why do you think everybody else tries to copy us? That's cause it's da best in da world cher

My fam is Creole. My bro married a Cajun girl from Des Allemandes. When she got pregnant w/their 1st child, the families got together and threw her a baby shower that was a lot like this. It was a party like no other! Nobody knows how to throw a fais do-do like us Louisianians! I've lived in other places, there's no place I'd rather have been born and raised. South Louisiana will always be my home BY CHOICE.
