  • The rifle Larry is using is an A1, but we use the A2 now, miles better.

  • any chance they make them for leftys now?

  • My question is if I as a U.S. citizen build an L85 semi auto "clone" using the same exact specifications and BATFE approval would Daniel Defense allow me to buy the rail system for my approved rifle ?

  • worst gun ever made,Australia only ever bought the same guns as England but then the english chose the sa80 ,now we dont even have the same round as them.

  • @MrFattyfatfatboy In trials the L85A2 fired 65000 rounds without a single fault proving it to be more reliable than the M16, G36 and Steyr AUG as well as being incredibly accurate, tell me how that constitutes it being the worst gun ever made.

  • @petbedding01 so your telling me they fixed the destructable saftey ,cocking handle and mosquito repellent does not melt the stock anymore its still got the worst aspects of the ar18 and i doubt that test was done near sand, and no other nation uses it, canada has m16 only Aus NZ Falkland islands ,fiji,Ireland all countrys that base them selves on the English army not one of them followed you on choice of it, and howcome ive never seen your SAS with it.

  • @MrFattyfatfatboy Beacause the SAS use the L119A1 as did the SFSG although more recently the SFSG have been seen using the L85. The L85A2 upgrade saw a new cocking handle, and a revised safety catch was incorporated shortly after. Since then and now its being deployed with ACOG, EMAG magazines and foregrips its received good feedback from troops using it. Granted the L85a1 was one of the worst weapons fielded in combat but I don't think you could say the same of the a2.

  • @petbedding01 hey the a2s only problem was you could use it as a water flask in wet conditions it never ever had the sa80s problems ,take a look at Ausi troops in vietnam and english troops in borneo ,you cant tell the diff in uniform guns(we got our first batch of M16s from you guys in borneo and you used our slr's in borneo) and then fast forward to sa80 ,not one folliowed you ,and the guy who chose the stuyer was an english NCO who said enfield shoud not be stamped on it.

  • Smart choice ! Daniel Defense is a great company !

  • It's funny really, people rag on and on about this gun, yet the M16 is actually worse in so many ways, not to mention being far older. Also worth mentioning, when first fielded, the M16 acquired a reputation for being near enough useless in battlefield conditions, and this is something which it has never really shaken over the years. So you see, if you're going to bang on about this gun being bad, you have to take all the rest into account as well.

  • Looks alot better.

  • cause germanys HK haha you need more assaulkt rifle manufacturer but your snips are great macmilan L96 AS50 Accurate international

  • if the gun would be more reliable at the mag release and bolt release(bad english) it would be a great gun but if even HK must optimize it SA80 its a lil bit prestige damage for enfield bla bla bla ...fuck my english sucks

  • Larry Vickers did some SCUD busting in Desert Storm & was on the Acid Gambit mission that freed Curt Muse, ODD did such a good job at freeing Muse from Panamanian custody ( Noriega ) that they didn't even have to kill all the Panamanian soldiers guarding Muse.

  • looks heavy

  • Too bad it's not ambidextrous and that alone puts people in harms way for no reason. Makes you realize that a soldier's life is not worth much for the crowned monsters.

  • @FictionCautious crowned monsters? who is that?

  • @TheJaaysog the monarchy

  • give me a 20mm top rail damnit..

  • I notice in another video he shoots left handed. You really don't want to shoot that thing left handed.

  • @happynotnormal Except if the bullpup aren't a L85A1/A2 or another not ambidexterous assault rifle (maybe you can do that with a FN F2000 or a KBP's A-91).

  • @AssassinKid0 Indeed I was referring to the SA80. You can not fire it left handed. Well you could but its not advisable.

  • @happynotnormal Sry...

  • now they need to change pistol grip and this gun will look so modern :P

  • @radzio40k i think it was better when it was green it looked much cooler. its like the AK47 it isn't really an ak47 now that they don't make the stock out of wood.

  • But... Will it blend ?

  • @MadmanDKDK yes........ yes indeed.

  • @MarkGronan1988 im a soldier and the older guys that had to use the a1 are usulally the toughest sons of bitches

  • @MarkGronan1988 HK is owned by BAE i think and i couldnt agree more but you had to be a bloody good soldier to use an A1

  • @UKNationalAirsoft it was at the time of the upgrade from A1 to A2 but it is not any more

  • @ChristofUK yeh i know but bae still owns 38% of H&K and apparently they want to buy more shares

  • @UKNationalAirsoft fair play, you clearly know more about it then i do

  • @ChristofUK yeh thanks but you seem to know a bit too

  • Some people make fun of us because our original L85 weapon system was so bad that we had to get Germans to upgrade it and fix it. And moreover, to enable modern accessories, get Americans to develop a rail system for it. But I see it this way.... We now have an incredibly accurate and deadly assault rifle and our troops are dying less for it, so really why complain lol?

  • @theRealAnonymousRain At the time H&K overhauled the L85 rifles it was actually a British company, despite the German heritage. It was stupidly sold off though.

The L85 platform is just the UK's Armalite equivalent. The first models (M16A1/L85A1) were shit and caused a lot of problems. Both platforms have since been heavily revised and offer excellent performance, but whereas the M16A3/A4 have overcome the initial reputation, the L85A2 hasn't. Because people know fuck all.

  • @GREATBIGBINFULLOFBUM Lol so because Royal Ordnance owned H&K for a few years means it's a UK Improvement? They were German engineers from Germany that redesigned your piece of shit rifle regardless of who signed their pay checks. This proves that the British education system has failed to produce qualified engineers who could even remotely do any competent work.

  • Comment removed

  • @stabnshoot apart from the british engineers who designed the beouwulf .50 cal system you mean?

  • @qwerty00101 LOL Last time I checked Alexander Arms was based in Radford, Virginia and not the UK.

Also, what did that have to do with what I was talking about?

  • @stabnshoot Your taking a stab at British education just for the production history of this rifle? That's just an awful and (funnily enough) uneducated conclusion.

  • @FakeMessiah94 Sounds like someone's a little butthurt. Would you therefore care to explain why the Brits were unable to fix their own rifle?

  • @stabnshoot I'm not arguing the point of who redesigned it. If anything its great H&K did. However making a complete assumption that the WHOLE of the UK are according to you "dumb" is ridiculous. I might as well say H&K going over the M4 to create the M416/7 shows Americans to be incompetent, but quite frankly I'm not.

  • @FakeMessiah94 You still haven't explained why your own born and raised UK engineers couldn't fix your own rifle and had to have the Germans redesign it for you.

Also let's touch on the 416 thing. We don't use the 416 en masse like you use the L85. the 416 is only employed by a select few military companies and other agencies. In fact the Marine Corps is only fielding 458. While the M16/M4 has been produced for more countries than just our own and is in numbers of around 8 million

  • @stabnshoot Basically your one of these radical "US RULEZ TEH WORLD" peeps. If anything this argument shouldn't even be here, considering its allied countries helping allied countries. Your laying down your assumption on one rifle. Did you even consider the L96 and L115A1? Last I heard those are brilliant rifles, last I here setting the world record in longest range kill. Were they poor manufacturers just cause they were British? I think not.

  • @FakeMessiah94 Basically you're now attacking me personally because you have no real factual information to base your argument on.

Also if I'm one of these so called "US RULEZ TEH WORLD" types as you claim I am, why am I voting for Ron Paul based on the concept of pulling out from every country and to seize being the world police? It's to damn expensive. Take care of your own damn problems.

  • @stabnshoot I did give factual information. L115A3 with a British sniper holds the world record at the longest distance killed with it being well beyond his effective range with a British manufactured gun. So does that still mean ALL British engineers are bad like you say?

  • @FakeMessiah94 Again. You're jumping to conclusions. Find where I said "every British engineer is bad" and I'll kindly shut up and go away.

You never debunked anything I said. You basically were in tasset agreement that the L85 is shit and tried to draw attention to other rifles.

That would be like me saying "Well, the Barret .50 functions flawlessly and so does the Bushmaster ACR, those are both American designs so you're wrong."

So why do you feel it's necessary to do so?

  • @stabnshoot "This proves that the British education system has failed to produce qualified engineers who could even remotely do any competent work." Your statement basically generalises all British engineers. That is why I mentioned the L115. If you wish people not to take full offence then maybe you should only mention the manufacturers of the SA80. I was never arguing about the quality of the SA80, though the A2 is a good weapon system unlike what some believe.

  • @FakeMessiah94 Ah see, but I never said "So does that still mean ALL British engineers are bad like you say?" As you pointed out.

If you want to dive into the area of the L115, then so be it.

The L115 is a bolt action. If a country can't manufacture a bolt action that functions then they might as well be fighting with sticks.

When it comes to semi-automatic or fully-automatic weapons, your nation has struggled with them.

  • @stabnshoot BAE.

  • @FakeMessiah94 most retarded comment ave ever herd mate, This proves that the British education system has failed?" get fucked, concorde? the harrier? the fucking jet engine as off many things, think you need to go back to the drawing board son.

  • @charliebrownface I never said that, I was defending Britain as someone else commented saying that. Go rant to him and not to me, otherwise you are basically committing friendly fire.

  • @FakeMessiah94 oh right sorry mate my bad!

  • @stabnshoot Correct myself *L115A3

  • @FakeMessiah94 *cease

  • @theRealAnonymousRain Why complain? Is the L85 left-hand compatible?

  • @theRealAnonymousRain we really should use the HK16 in my opinion, but because of our glorious conservative government our military exists of one land rover, a dingy and a biplane now.

  • @TheJaaysog

The countery is down the toilet because Labour had the worst accountants in history, not the Conservatives (although I would never trust any politician).

...Oh and the dinghy's got a puncture so thats gone :)

  • @stupidismymiddlename you right laour must of been really bad because the torys could not even get a majority even though david chameleon pretended to be a soft tory-not to mention it was maggie thatchers fault anyway in the long term because it was her that completely let the banks do whatever they liked with our cash, i i suppose its labour fault because david cameron would of done the exact same to bail out the banks not to mention the problems came from america-dont trust the papers

  • @TheEnglishBadman the british army has never had a 5.56 sniper rifle and never will. the round is too small and light for distance shooting. i used to be a sniper in the guards division (british army)

  • @thelleht no ive seen most troops with it now. Just watch the news and when they show troops in Afghan etc you will see it

  • @MarkGronan1988 *assault rifle mate :)

  • @MarkGronan1988 ye its a cracking piece of kit now m8 but all weapon systems have teathing problems m16 was a piece of shit when it entered service also

  • @MarkGronan1988 Don't feel bad, Our AR weapons system suffers from silmilar status.

  • @dfagnani

Have you ever experienced those failures on your AR?

  • @PulletSurprise I don't own an AR myself, but there are a couple AR's in the family. And I also have experienced a couple of the formentioned errors on the familys rifle.

  • yer nice make by daniel defence but CLOSE THAT DUST COVER.

  • @tab1936 You only need to close the dust cover, when your crawling trough mud or something similar.

  • What do you mean 'decent'? The SA80's accuracy and reliability have caused the US government to conduct reserch and trials into bullpup weapons which is quite an achivment seeing as the americans seem to be not so keen on bullpups to but it lightly. Figures will vary but you can get a lot of rounds down range without any stopage's with the A2. Deserves alot more recognition.

  • Is this heavier than the plasticy green one we use on the L98??

  • @MarkGronan1988 hk is the best of the best

  • gotta love the ol' L85 A2! such a beast of a weapon! especially with the sling attached! Best British Armed Forces Rifle!!!!!! I cannot wait until I stop playing with the L98 A2 and move onto the L85 when I finally join up!

  • i would love to get my hands on an L85 or any bullpup rifle but the american market resents bullpups so much the closest thing to cool was the M17 and the fn2000 and stetyer just look ugly

  • heavy as fuck. bag of shit. we've gone back to the old handguard

  • where the hell can i buy one tho????

  • Daneyo Defense lol

  • i hate this guys facial expressions

  • insert a foregrip to that baby and you have yourself a British AUG.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrBEAST127 not about looks mate, its how it performs,

if you look at the supposed l85a3 is fugly, but has the slr length barrel and sa80a2 performance

  • the DD rail is brilliant in theatre, used one when last on tour, alot better as can mount the laser module and bipod grip,

the sa80a1 was ok until got any ammount of dirt in the mag, chamber or barrel, then the gun would jam and stop.

the sa80a2 version is one of if not the best bullpup in the world,

the DD rail system is very robust and rigid, compaired to the B&T trail RIS unit that the UK MOD used for four months before choosing the DD system to issue the troops,

  • @arronfoster17 Steyr AUG is the best Bullpup Rifle atm, it`s better balanced and the handling is better. But the SA80a2 looks better^^

  • @Helghastdude the AUG.... please... really !!!!

think not :p. many agree the sa80 is the best performing rifle for the infantry nad army serviceman because of the size, the weight , sturdiness and effectness in theatre.... the effective ranges have been used and exerted,

    SA80 for the win :p

  • @arronfoster17 Ok we could argue about this forever, since you are from GB (SA80) and i`m from Austria (AUG) :D

  • dust cover not closed......start pushing them out!

  • u can tell it is an A1 because of the famous straight pull handle....unless of course he is using a plixar p85

  • @ooogaboooga172 have you ever fired one? I have it won't jam if you clean it I have never had a blockage and not one of my mates have.

  • @mugginsmk1 yea but people used to say the same thing about the m16a1

  • This is the greatest handguard for an l85 by far but i'd love to see one in that olive green that the l85 has so that it matches and has a better look...

  • @TheEnglishBadman If it were a sniper, it wouldn't have been 5.56.

  • What you didn't see is that he shot three times, then it jammed.

  • Anyone else feel nostalgic seeing the old A1?

  • @fleawannabe87 until the moment it jams

  • @ooogaboooga172 You got that right!

  • i get this rail for my SA80

  • The SA80 is an extremely accurace rifle, I have fired them many times.

  • Much needed upgrade is right.

  • Too bad the UK doesnt make a civilian friendly semi l85 rifle, I would buy one. They are cool looking rifles.

  • @coldfire2227 They did only very breifly last I heard. They imported something like 15-20 semiauto versions to the US in 1989. But then the import ban came about and no more were ever imported as a result.

The few copies that are out there when they are for sale run in excess of 100K each due to their rarity.

This is what I've heard anyway.

I think the AUG is a better bullpup rifle anyway so it doesn't bother me too much.

  • @coldfire2227 Its made by someone else....the Semi , civi one

  • now if only we could have semi auto L85 's legal here for civilians in america.Know i would pay for a rifle like that .

  • i giggle every time i hear someone say "eyerak"

  • lol I love this commercial it could not have had any more digs at Brit kit, a much needed upgrade, HK made the rifle as good as it can be already, they also made another rail system practically identical DD just put a bigger price tag onto it. I genuinely think there was some hand shaking and money envelopes handed around at higher levels for this deal to have went through, but that is just my opinion, other than that it is a good piece of kit and extremely valuable in every sense.

  • @TheEnglishBadman

What kind of bullet/powder composition did he use? What was the range? And what was length of the barrel and twist of his weapon? I dont mean to be disrespectful in saying this but you are overgeneralizing with that statement.

5.56 is extremely effective when using the correct bullet weight, powder shot out of a correct barrel. The autopsy pictures.speak for themselves....

  • Is this a commercial?

It's like this guy is reading off a brochure?

  • What a sexy gun and i mean sexy...

  • Does anyone know where you could get a rail system like this for an airsoft l85? and I know that someones gonna get mad at be for talking about a "BB gun" but hey, I like mil sim.

  • it looks so awesome with the ACOG soght and the front gripp

  • @anteracmacash i know, now the classic british bullpup rifle looks like a modern assault rifle instead of a toy gun,i mean the old sa80 looks like a plastic toy gun.

  • @fmoa it looks bad ass :)

  • @anteracmacash That isn't actually an ACOG, that's a SUSAT sight, which most SA80s are equipped with. They are, I beilieve, slowly reaplcing them with ACOGs though

  • @wissam24 they are replacing them with acogs and I wasn't talking about the sights in the video...

  • LOL at the A1 version he's using

  • @wissam24 who gives a shit if its A1 or A2 or A10,if rail systems fits all version of the sa80,then its great,it doesnt matter if its A1 or A-MILLION you faggot..oh,i think you just mad brits MoD chose a yank defense company to design your rail system, dont worry, they also pick the u.s sharpshooter rifle for the brits royal marines n paras.

  • @fmoa Excuse me? What the hell is wrong with you? I was merely laughing at the fact that he's showcasing the latest upgrades on an older, inferior version of the gun. Would you not find it funny if they displayed the latest, most modern upgrades and attachments on an M16?

And I couldn't care less if they've adopted US weapons. If they're the best for our troops, why shouldn't they? AT least we don't have your inferior service rifles, tanks, vehicles, APCs, body armour, training...

  • @fmoa Bit like the Us using Belgian MG's such as M249 and M240 , or the SCAR or Berreta being Italian or USMC using the Harrier Jump Jet. Nationality of weapons means fuck all as long as it does the job required.

  • @fmoa yea its called the international arms trade you prick, british americans germans french dutch, we all buy from each other, that way we all have access to each others best stuff which then basically means NATO pwns

  • @fmoa wrong, the british army and marines use the accuracy international rifle which is british, and also holds the record for the greatest distance kill. search on wiki and educate yourself.

  • @lickspittle1

A Canadian w/ a .50 cal bolt action holds that title at the moment

  • I have seen L85s being used by soldiers with what looks to be these rails on videos around youtube. I dont know whether they can get hold of them on request or whether they just bring the piece over with them and switch it out themselves or something, I really dont know, but I have definately seen them being used.

  • Why did they make a promo vid for it? Nobody who watches this personally owns an L85.

  • @wizemanful the video wasnt meant for the yanks you idiot,it was market to the brits,so the video was for the brits.

  • @fmoa Think for a second, genius. Why would they make a commercial for a product for someone they already sold? It's not like they made it on the off chance a high ranking general happens to see it. Think for a second.

  • god i wish they made a civilian version of the l85

  • @Army888

    In UK:

    LEI SA80

    or, In the US:

    Prexis PL-85.

  • is it true the A2 is not reliable? keeps jaming?

  • @lewisx20x20

nah, the SA80 (the A1, if you will) had serious problems with jamming.......and general reliability for that matter! now that H&K have taken over and the A2 produced, said problems have been rectified, but not eradicated. But the A2 is a pretty good platform, much greater than its predecessor anyway!

    hope that helps

  • @murdoch2486 It has more or less no more problems than an M16

  • @lewisx20x20 The A2 is very reliable its the A1 that jammed.

  • this type of rifle will be the last ones britian makes we will probaly use other assault rifles lter on

  • @homiezrgr8 I would doubt that - the MOD tends, even now, to use home grown stuff rather than imports. Tanks, vehicles, planes - all have at least some British input, if not totally ours. I'd think they'd go the same way with the next rifle, though I'd imagine all the accessories will be from abroad

  • i want to have one for airsoft gun

  • whys he using the l85A1, we dont even use them anymore

  • @viper1995 Sorry Viper, that information is untrue! The U.K. still is still an active duty infantry weapon.

  • @viper1995 The forend isn't different on the A2 compared to the A1, so it's possible to build an system using the A1 for RnD and have it work on the A2.

  • @viper1995 I thinkin in the US there is a civilian l85 but I have never seen it, maybe he is using that

  • this guy cannot pronouce Daniel properly

  • What bloody took the MOD so long!?

  • looks ten times better

  • Thank you for making a great system for our troops!

  • Strange seing a video based just on a rail system.

  • DD should have SOCOM gear make a airsoft replica, that would be sweet.

  • they are accurate up to 600m i use a variation of this at army cadets

  • 5.56 really doesnt have a problem with killing someone sub-200 yards. The problem with the 5.56 is it loses velocity fairly quickly because its a small bullet (55grns usually) and after 300 yards or so it fails to fragment effectively.

  • does it makes the gun lighter?

  • @chrizmeister1992 I don´t think so... You´re replacing the plastic handguard with one thats made of metal. In the best case weight stays the same, but I think it will gain some extra weight.

Not really a bad thing, since the center of mass is quite far at the bottom of the gun. I wouldn´t mind some extra weight on front of the gun to give it a better balance.

  • @PHOENIXSQUAD86 there praticley the same the plastic hand-guard had a metal inner to prevent the heat of the barrel from melting the inside after rapid firing. so any difference in weight you could only really tell from a set of scales

  • @jack5760 I dont think that the plastic handguard weights the same, even with the heatshield. Mine doesnt support rapid fire, so i couldn´t care less about the Heatshield, since i fire about four rounds a minute on the range. Its a really nice thing to have, but its not worth to go through the hustle to get it. (In my opinion) But on the range its a nice eyecatcher ;)

  • this would look sweet on a airsoft gun....

  • u can get them for around £400

  • you can get one for around £410

  • I would be interested in buying one. Do you sell to private persons too, or only the MOD? - I own an L85-A2.

  • @PHOENIXSQUAD86 how did u purchase an l85 a2 ? i thaught only the military had access to them

  • @Blackguineapig its an a1 in the vid mate

  • @PHOENIXSQUAD86 how did u buy an a2?

  • What is the millimeter of the round that the L85 fires?

  • Just the standard NATO round, 5.56x45

  • lol they gave u an A1

  • @scimatarpictures No, the L85A1 has the carry handle. The L85A2 has the Scope.

  • @Hellraiser618 The L85A1 Has either an carrying handle, a SUSAT sight (as in this video) or an optical Night sight, The A2 can also be fitted with any of these sights. you can tell that it is an L85A1 because of the shape of the cocking handle. The A2 has a comma shaped cocking handle, this in an A1

  • @scimatarpictures Oh, i just never thought the airsoft companies would lie to me :P

  • @Hellraiser618 no they can both have the "handle" tho it's not a handle its the rear iron sight you would get into big bother ie dragged down the range by your helmet if ever caught using it as a handle

  • it looks so much better once you have the grip on it

  • i have to admit when i first saw these on the rifle i was mortified, it just didn't look right. However after getting to 'grips' with it I think its a sterling bit of kit.

  • as soon as those quad rails started coming out for the ar-15 platform people just eat em up. now every gun owner wants one Problem #1 not every gun has quad rails made specifically for it. companies like denial defense Yankee hill machine and others ect.. too many to mention =) are fixing that hehe.

  • Do you know where i can get a L85 assault Rifle?

  • They are not avaliable for civilian use its military only

  • well im sure if you move to the UK and join te army....

  • lool

  • @nguyenMCJROTC British army only
