Ok first, I GREW UP IN FAIR LAWN, NJ! Meyerowitz Furs was on Saddle River Road!!!!! Not even a big store!!!!! Wow!!!!!! Sweet!
Trilogy of Terror, great movie! It was a WABC staple for as long as I can remember, airing well into the late 90s on their Late Movie.
Indeed it does look like the filmed bumpers were gone, using the popcorn/candy bumpers also seen on WABC's Saturday & Sunday Afternoon Movies in the mid 1980s.
One time the NY daily nerws had its readers write in to them about their most irritating neighbors. One woman related the time her neighbor would clap all day long. One clap, followed by two claps. And during the night, the guy would go out to work, but then his "neurotic cat" would howl all night long out of lonliness. Finally he moved out taking his "neurotic cat" with him. She said that she later found out he was the guy who invented the clapper.
As for timing of the audio intro, the production company would be responsible for that, and not likely the station. Maybe there was slightly more animation than the music-edit piece which was to be used..
No . . . all opens for all their movies had the exact same timing, no matter what. It's that not only "The 4:30 Movie," but also their "Sunday Night Movie," was off in the timing department. Also, on this version, it seems in terms of the gap between the zoom-out and the music start, there appears to have been a consideration of the distance between the picture start of a film and when the sound came in. Which was likely not accounted for in "The 4:30 Movie" or "Sunday Night Movie" opens.
As I've said, the "Saturday Night Movie" opening, in its timing, is what should have been . . . "The 4:30 Movie" open was clearly off, with the music starting about 1.5 seconds ahead of when it should have come in. It does appear that by this point, the filmed bumpers were ditched.
Dear TapThatt... WONDERFUL NYC TV clips!!! Please keeep 'em coming!

Ca. the 4:30 mark... a chiropractor's commercial.
In my line of work(insurance), I oftentimes have contact with chripractors as follow-up to car-accident claims.
I wonder... did I have contacts with this Pecoraro fellow in my work? He may have offices in Jersey these days.

Loved the ORIGINAL Clapper ad!

@DanZero77 - One can only imagine how "The 4:30 Movie" would've had their bumper arranged with that mid-'80's popcorn/candy motif.

@DanZero77 Yes, the Clapper ad, AS IT SHOULD BE! Whether the key be G or A, today's Clapper ads are in the key of WRONG!!!
(No offense, dudes, but a throwback to the original theme wouldn't hurt! ;))

Or as Dan Ingram would say, "in the key of 'R'."
