  • Wow these rats are gorgeous!

  • Thats a fight, not a play..!

  • uuuuuu there not playing 8(

  • these rats are fighting for dominance not playing.

  • @Atheniandream Agreed, that's not playing. When they're playing they get those weird tics :p

  • omg pretty colours!

  • Those are babies?!?!

  • @ElectraZona wow have u ever held one and their tail helps with balance

  • put a cat in there with em

  • Rats spend a third of their waking life cleaning themselves :)

  • Fight, fight, fight!

  • what bedding is that?

  • @capsrule99 i know there's bedding of recycled newspaper. i don't kknow for sure, but it looks it might be this bedding

  • @capsrule99 thats yesterdays news bedding for cats. witch is 100% okay

  • thats so cute :)

  • Very beautiful rats. :)

  • sweet..

  • Thats so sweet ツ

  • cute.

  • what type of bedding did you have in that temp. cage?

  • how could you know if there playing??

  • @ratsandhorses321 They're being very gentle with one another, and just tumbling around. I'm sure if you search youtube you can find a real rat fight.

  • @DirtieLaundry oh ok thx cuz i wanted to because im getting 2 rats soon and i need info you know lol :)

  • @ratsandhorses321 They aren't trying to kill each other? Lol Oh you'd know if they were fighting.

  • @RoscoTheRat yeah i know that lol my rats do that all the time i just wanted to know before i got my rats to know if its good or not you know what i mean??

  • @ratsandhorses321 Ah yeah, I see what you are saying. Most people think my rats are fighting when they toss each other around. I have to explain to them they are playing, rats like to wrestle.

  • @RoscoTheRat lol i get sometimes it vcould be hard lol :)

  • my rats used to play like this all the time. i had 2 but now only 1. I miss these moments.

  • @alapurakura wild brown rats can carry disease, but so do most other wild animals. Grey squirrels carry rabies lol, but for everyone worrying about domestic rats its exactly as you said, you cant catch anything from a domestic rat unless its been exposed to disease itself.

  • Meine quicken immer ganz laut...wenn sie (spielen)

    ist das normal?

  • Vince should sign them!

  • I have rats thar were playing and I thought that they were fighting I got scared.... But then I was happy cuz they is ok

  • your rats are so adorable!

  • So cute watching them wrestle/play fight. I did have a father and son who did fight on occasion. Was a dominance thing. They squeal pretty loud if it was for real.

  • the grey stops in the middle and scratches himself

  • To everyone wondering, this is how rats play. You'll know if one is hurting the other; they squeak to let the other know "okay, that's enough" but if they're really getting hurt, they'll scream. You'll know the difference. Otherwise, it's just like when puppies play fight.

  • Aww! Your rats are adorable! <3

  • i had two male rats that played like that, but as they got older they became more aggressive with each other. the bigger one started to bully the smaller one a lot and their "rough housing" became biting wrestle play. sad.

  • is it normal for rats to play really rough like that. mine are about 7-8 weeks old and they roll around and bit eachother all the time but they also squeak when they get bit and i wonder if they are hurting each other.

  • @MartinaFan87

Don't worry - it is 100% normal! It might look a bit scary but they are having fun and are probably giggling (search youtube for the video showing that rats laugh)!

  • Yikes, those are babies? How big do they get?

  • @luv4knowledge

Pretty big lol. Ptolomy, the black and white one, was relatively petite but McClane, the greyer one, was a giant by the end of his life.

  • aw so cute! just like mine

  • kill all of them NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @HardTimezBand

Yeah, I'm afraid my rats are only a threat to trolls. Whoops!

  • aww so cute! please every rat lover out there please join my group on facebook i LOVE my rat to prove that rats are not gross or mean thank you

it won't let me add a link so please join!

  • Mine used to play like this when they were little, now they're about a year old and lazy as sin :P

  • @LodzieLithium Yep, lol, sound about right.

  • i think they need some lead in them if you know what i mean KA POW!!

  • @squidopolis Well, I mentally added some commas and capital letters to your post and yes, I know what you mean. When the rats take over the world I will direct them to you for special justice.

  • Rats are one of the cleanest pets there is. They clean them self all the time. And each other. They are also one of the smartest pets. Pet rats can get illnesses, but they dont spread them. Pet rat; or Fancy rats come Brown rats, not from Black rats which carry all kinds of diseases.

  • you shouldnt have them in a bird cage the bars are coated with a paint that is toxic to small animals.

  • @TheCivicguyd16 Really/ I didn't know that. The cage was only used temporarily and we don't have it any more, but thanks for the info.

  • @LadyShamisen Idk where that person got their info, but all bird cages I've seen are powder coated, which is actually encouraged as galvanized wire starts to smell really bad after a while. It isn't toxic to small animals and many small animal cages are also powder coated.

  • @TheCivicguyd16 The cage is clearly bare metal dumbass.

  • @Badboy4c1 its a coating on that metal. It is sprayed onto the bars. It is transparent........DUMBASS.

  • you shouldnt have them in a bird cage the bars are coated with a paint that is toxic to small animals.

  • Oh, my God, they're both SO beautiful! I actually have one exactly like your grey, who plays just like yours. The black and white one is the most gorgeous colouring ever! I actually bought my grey one based on his colouring.. but he turned out to be *such* a lovely rat I'm smitten with him!

  • These rats are squee! ^_^

  • @Dragoonkyle It was the fleas, not the rats that carried the plague. pet rats are one of the cleanest animals you'll find. They clean themselves more then cats do.

And they are gorgeous Rats. They look very happy :)

  • ahaha rats are so cute when they play :P mine end up cuddling right after ^.^

  • ok so it noraml for them to play like that. oh ok thanks for haveing this video know i no my rats dont want to kill eatch other coz they r from the same litter

  • I am getting rats soon! can't wait! I am glad it is just a temporary cage! phew!

  • aww thats soo cute

  • 0:18 that rat is like, bitch plz!

  • @OMGitsthatguy1 LOL!

  • I love it when they do the hand-slappy fighting ... always cracks me up! I was wary when my partner wanted to get some pet rats, but I totally fell in love with them. Now I'm forever filming them for the purposes of boring YouTubers :)

  • aww!!!!!!!!!!!

  • mine do this all the time, i was getting worried

  • Cute! Does anyone know wheither it's normal for adult rats to play fight? My mom's two rats do. They're both girls and they're both about a year old.

  • are those really baby rats? they seem so big.

    cute!

  • I hate when ppl ask me does my rat carry disease...

  • @NBnKB2525 Yea, I know. A lot of people carry more diseases than domestic rats. For example, at my school, people take shits and don't wash their hands. Domestic rats are as clean as any other pet and cleaner than a lot of people I know.

  • nice rats

  • dragoonkyle, they don't LIKE have any LIKE diseases or anything LIKE that. these rats look very LIKE happy and very LIKE healthy. XD i hate it when people say LIKE too much :P

  • how old?

  • There so cute

  • i have pet Rats and they are ok to have

  • they are the cutest rats i have ever seen i love their markings

  • ┌∩┐(◕_◕)┌∩┐

Copy and paste if you HATE the new YouTube layout.

    CHANGE IT BACK YOUTUBE

  • @TehMonsteh I agree. This was the temporary cage I put my rats into whenever they needed their actual cage to be cleaned and I couldn't let them run around for whatever reason - hence no toys, bedding or food. They sometimes had to be put in there for brief time out periods, but usually they lived in a Furet XL.

Thank you for your assumptions and your eloquance.

  • @LadyShamisen thank god you said this was a temporary cage i was about to troll this vid

  • my rats do that to i love rats i have an albino and a fancy

  • oh man, they're gorgeous! So cute. ;-;

  • Beautiful coat colors on those two!

  • Mine do that ALL THE TIME!! Haha but your rats seem evenly matched.. while one is bigger at my place:P He always wins XD But the smaller one never gives up:D It is funny to watch

  • I like how the last five commenters team up on one person for asking if rats have diseases.....lol

  • Rats are clean animals... Sure, sewer rats are dirty and CAN carry diseases... Just like homeless cats and dogs.

  • @helsbard just like homeless people carry aids :P

  • No they do not have diseases because there not wild/or sewer rats. these are pet rats so they dont carry diseases.

  • Out friend had a rat for a very long time but she had a tumor so they had to use eutanasy on her recently it said because she was pretty smart.

  • Well, they do have the plague but, you know, I like to have pets that might kill me. Moron.

  • @LadyShamisen

    LUL

You get 5 stars just for this comment. Plus, your rats are adorable, too.

1 question, though. how do you know if babies are playing or fighting? I have 2 girls. 1 is about 2 months older than the other. I got them about a month apart but the 1st (and older) one has been used to being around other rats probably since birth. I think the same goes for the youngest, but I'm not sure. When I hear squeaks coming from the little one at night, it gets me scared, though. Plz help! =(

  • Did you introduce them properly? Try checking them for blood, wounds, scars, or scratches. If none, i'd just monitor it and see what happens.

  • @CatMaster87932

There was no wounds or blood that I could see. There was some red stuff leaking from the little one's nose, but I don't think it's blood.

And they got along fine at first - it's only been recently that they've been fighting and stuff. But they still groom each other and sleep together.

  • Sounds good. And the red stuff is just discharge, keep watch for lots of it, though.

  • @LadyShamisen

    haha awesome comment!

5 stars just for the comment! haha

BUT, i have the same question as 2Foxxy4U

except mine are sisters and the same age or about 1 minute or so apart.. PLZ HELP

  • Comment removed

  • @LadyShamisen Sorry. I misunderstood your post. D: Ignore my comment.

  • @LadyShamisen they have a cure for the plague... i think, anyway, pet rats cant give you the plague if you clean them regularly and you keep them healthy, its only wild rats that carry the plague

  • @Rmister1 :) It's ok, I was joking. Pet rats 100% can't give you the plague and you're right - modern varients of "The Black Death" is curable with a simple course of antibiotics.

  • @LadyShamisen they arent BORN with the plague. unless YOU give it to them

  • @Herpderp5 Umm... yes, that's right... I don't quite see your point, but have a cookie.

Unless you're another person who goes in guns blazing without trying to engage your "understanding sarcasm" senses and just assumes you're the only person in the world fighting to understand poor rats, you against the world. In which case please move on. You're not the only person fighting for the rats. There are lots of us.

  • @LadyShamisen

please tell me this is sarcasm that 13 people picked up on and I did not... because otherwise it means you and 13 other people have severe closed minded ignorance.

  • @TAPriceCTR Yep, I was being sarcastic, which yes you did miss. I can't speak for people who "liked" the comment. My clue was the fact I referred to the person who left the original comment as a moron, and the fact that my response of liking to have pets that can kill me was so obviously idiotic.

Would you like a ladder to get off your high horse? There is no need to just jump in and make assumptions. You don't have to constantly fight for rat rights, other people care for them too.

  • @LadyShamisen Rats never had the plague... rats carried fleas and ticks that did, but so did cows and people. Rats are some of the cleanest animals.

  • @Heylola2 thank u! At least SOMEONE understands!

  • Rat's have diseases if they catch diseases, it's not something that they get from birth. Also, rats are very disease resistant, and cleanly (you can often see them clean themselves if they get dirty, or help each other get clean).

  • @Dragoonkyle no their pet rats you moron! Besides rats only got the plauge because of fleas and people got the plauge because they were to fucking dirty!

  • @Dragoonkyle No there Domesticated rats, hence, they have no diseases. Only wild rats have diseases, but the wild rats get them from fleas. Pet rats are enjoyable pets and love to play.

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH me wanteeeeeeee! We no have those colour/patterns in AUS :'(

  • I got a really cool silver back with a white belly in a QLD pet store, was the only one in a cage of about 20 rats.

  • SIlver? hmm, might be dove, or small chance it could be blue.

These 2 guys in the video we do not have there patterns in aus.

  • QUE?? im mexican

  • Help! if anyone knows what to do when a rat has babies my rat was pregnant when i got her and i have no experience HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • love those kinda rats but they are not babys rolf

  • Love the markings on that grey rat. Too cute.

  • Damn, what i wouldn't give to get those rat colours here in australia.

  • what are you talking about you can

  • i meant markings, sorry, you can get black ones here, but they are not true black like in america, they are more of a dark brown, and they are silvered also. You can very rarely find blue rats not, but they all have a bleeding disorder, so it is becoming less and less common to find them as many die from a young age and the mortality rate at birth is usually very high.

  • oh my mistake

  • my rats play like this too.but the little rat is beating my old rat

  • oh they where fiting :O i had a rat that bitten in his m8s balls(for real) and they had to be removed... becare full

  • @m0hawk1dwarf ouch that got to hurt

  • that is soooooo cute

  • SOOO CUTE!!

  • i let my rat stay out of its cage

it go's where ever it want

  • Oooh, risky :) lol, you're braver than I am! Everything would be chewed and I know they'd find somewhere to hide to freak me out.

  • My rats don't tend to chew wires because I train them not to chew them, if they do I spritz them with a little water. I also lay out food and water, because most of the time when they do chew the wires they are hungry. But only let them out when you are going to be in the room with them watching them. They are little trouble makers sometimes. =3

  • id let my rat out cuz he ALWAYS comes back but he chews wires......and me

  • I think they are so cute when they are playing! Glad to hear they are in a different cage.

  • Just saw a more resent post of yours, see that this is a temp cage. :) Just trying to help is all. :)

  • No worries at all - I'd rather people posted helpful comments like your than not at all - it's good to keep the correct treatment of rats highlighted. I certainly wouldn't want others to think this size cage was acceptable.

  • Get them a bird or wire cage so they can climb around. Play tunnels and hammoks are a big favorite!! That beats being snake food, but they like to have more options. :) Glad to see they have play mates!! :)

  • Oh no. The Cage is much too small. And no toys :-(((

  • I agree - this was not their permanent cage - I put my rats in here either when they are being cleaned, being quarantined or about to be introduced to a larger group. The now live in a furet XL with plenty of toys which are typically ignored in favour for piling into a hammock. But they are nearly two now.

  • theyre wrestling..playing. thats what they do

  • idt there babies at 10 weeks old...

  • Did you decide to spell it Ptolomy [sic] on purpose?

  • No, lol - just cos I can't spell :) Told my other half about your comment and even he didn't realise I spell Ptolomy's name incorrectly. Oops!

  • hihi so sweet

  • MY BETS ON THE BLACK ONE!

  • I love when ratties do that. My boyfriend thinks they're hurting each other but it's just a dominance/play thing.

  • its called play fighting, they pin eachother down, its funny to watch

  • hamsterluver10

Rats are a lot different than hamsters. For one thing; rats are a social pack animal and love playing with each other.

Wrestling like this is something they do all the time. This video will help you understand how natural it is:

    watch?v=myuceywaOUs

  • Nope. They are just playing.

  • cute patterns! i love their bellies :)

  • I love em! Check out my rat!

  • adorable!

  • Thease arn't babys anymore...;)

  • oh their so cute

  • How cute! :-)
