  • @Sentiobonus, a question you posed to Locsofglory found it's way into my e-mail. You may want to try contacting Locsofglory again

    Peace

  • I know you've cut your hair, but how many years of growth is this? I have a low caesar cut right now, but I'm already wanting my hair to look like yours. Also, how do you get the wavy locs like that?

You have a very pretty face btw.

  • Good video. If you read hair boards and blogs, etc., it doesn't get said enough that locks are just hair. In fact a lot of people don't seem to know this. I agree that anything you used to shampoo, condition or moisturize your hair before it was in locks, is just as good for hair when it's in locks. The only thing to watch for is you don't want heavy products coz they won't wash out and then you'll be stuck with buildup that doesn't look good.

  • I agree with you African hair loves moisture, especially water. When I use oil, I use hemp oil. My hair loves it. But water is far more vital, and more often used.I am surprised that you think that natural hair wearer aren't aware of the necessity.

  • @SheilaDang52 You will be surprised....how many people are asking how to maintain their natural hair on you yube....That's why I made the video....some don't know

  • @LocsOfGlory Hair care isn't that complicated. In fact, it's a simple process.

22yrs locing, I wash/condition weekly, unless I have the flu. Twist new growth once a month & keep hair/scalp happy with oil spray from the beauty supply store. Period. :-) Olive spray... I use now and then.

If locer's would follow that regimen, they wouldn't need...ACV, BAKING SODA, ETC. ETC. to remove dirt or odor from their head. Unfortunately, many who post on you tube re: locs have no clue.

  • @LocsOfGlory

I have a question... I'm a 14 year old white rasta in Belgium, so I don't have 'African' hair. But I still want natural dreadlocks, no wax or chemicals. And I can't get oils either, because my dad is rascistic and anti-rasta and doesn't want me to have natties.

I don't cut or comb my hair, but neither do I wash it because of the shampoo's that destroy my hair. Would just washing it with water mean a progress for my hair or undo them? And should I use hot or cold water?

    Jah bless

  • Cucka buds? What are those? Also why do you need to oil your scalp?

  • @moogle301 You need to oil your scalp, because your scalp is skin. It needs to be kept moisturised to keep it supple and will grow healthy hair. Can you imagine not oiling your skin or creaming your lips? Why would your scalp require any less treatment than the rest of the skin on your body?

  • ayee u cutee lol

    good vid thoo

  • good vid !!!!

  • Great info! Love your locs!! LOL :-)

  • I would like to comment and say that I agree with the lady in the video. I have been dreading my husband hair for 2mths. I have used beeswax, organic gel, and ect, but now that i have started to use natural oils like grape seed, carrot, and olive oil it has done so much better

  • You have re leaved me of the stress that comes with the blah blah

  • @apictureofruit Glad I could help.....I had a headache too....Then realized it is all advertizing crap

  • What about tea tree oil

  • Ok but what about in the store in case I cant get the plant lol

  • I use straight up aloe from the plant. I cut the plant open and rub it in. no build up. my hair is soooo black (naturally) and shiny and thick and soft!

  • @IZionDawta Love Love

  • Good video whats the best stuff to use after your hair is re twisted?

  • Respond to this video... Light olive oil won't build up....love latch hook method.....easy to wash

  • Great video...I'm finding in my third year that I don't want to use product during maintenance after wash. Light oils once and a while.

  • @Cherished131 I agree

  • Hi, oils make my locs a little hard, so should I continue to use it?

  • @WOMAN40GIRL4 Yes the key..is using it lightly...

  • No pink lotion it coats the hair with silicone keeps the hair from growing. Oil your locs with cooking olive oil r tea tree oil very light oils that will wash out and not cause build-up. to get rid of build-up clarify the hair with apple cider vinger and lemon juice remeber clarify is taking out naturl oils so shampoo & condtioner with residue free products.

  • Thanks for the info. I am just beginning my loc journey as of a couple of days ago and wasn't really sure about how to maintain. You hair is beautiful and I hope to have similar results one day. Agina thanks for the info.

  • Yeah, I was thinking about that pink lotion and how it made my hair grow when I was perming it. It kept it moist. But see, also I like to use it the night before and to tie it up in s silk scarf. Then the next day I shampoo and condition my hair as usual. It will feel softer, and I use it only if I dont have the Afican oil.

  • Your locs are beautiful, but I have been taught by Dr. Joann Cornwell, the creator of sisterlocs, that our hair has natural oils and we do not need to put oils in our hair, and store brought oily products clogs our pores and make it difficult for our hair to grow. I would like your comments please.

  • @supervirtuouswoman Just because she invented a hair style does mean she knows the best way to maintain it...every hair texture is different...people invent things all the time...and others make it better...that is the way of life...anyone that studies african american hair knows...that the dominant texture needs extra oils....I'm glad that humans evolve and we are able to perfect inventions.

  • @LocsOfGlory Typo Dosen't mean

  • I love this vid! havent heard many people go in depth to that extent, that is exactly what i needed to hear, very helpful!!!!

  • @1OFAKiiND Glad I could help

  • thanks for the advice plz come check out my page. Im on my new dreadlock journey and I hope you subscribe to see how mine is going. Much love........

  • @Acemusic23 will do

  • thanks for this vid. i used to take much better care of my hair when i first started. i'm inspired! thanks.

  • @abbeymore1 Glad I could help

  • Gr8 Vid Madd informative lol i think ima end up interlocc'n

  • mineral oil is a big no-no for hair. it tends to clog pores. not all oils r made equally. research this.

  • @RootsRunDeeep I have.....but the key is lightly....and the company put it in there products not me....that's why I say you can choose which ingredients works best for your hair

  • Hi there... I just watched another video of yours and you were showing that you are starting locs from kinky twists... are these the same twist extensions? In that vid you said you were going to use palm rolling and Jamaica Mango and Lime creme wax... are you still using that or did you decide to switch to palm rolling?

  • @qochemist I never did the palm rolling with...I did for a few times...and it would make my scalp itch...I'm starting fresh again...so I will show what I did later

  • thank you sooo much girl i believe what you say .... that is what i am going too do...thanks again

  • It's not a good idea to spray all that oil on you actual loc. The oil causes them to rot. The only thing you need is jojo oil for the scalp and that's it.

  • @hetheru when you say "rot" do you mean thin out? or actual rotting?

  • What about that pink lotion, would you use that still? It cam in a white and a pink bottle. Bonner brand I think.

  • @twopeasinapod123 I wouldn't recommend using pink lotion unless you are regularly clarifying your hair by using apple cider vinegar or products that do a similar job because it is likely to result in build up on your locs.

  • @twopeasinapod123

Aww I remember pink lotion....if you use it..I would use it very lightly ....But natural oils are best

  • You have lovely locs and make some great points. Some people are too hung up on shop brought products. They probably have ingredients at home they could use such as ev olive/co-conut oil (food grade) just because it doesnt have a pic with locs on the bottle they wont use but will wait until they have severe build up before they turn to natural products. I used up many of my old relaxer products in early loc days including that Olive Oil spray you showed, i like that but only use at front.

  • yeah, I agree....you should definitely moisturize the locs!

  • @wbrutus22 Yeah...it's funny I watch these videos for help....they don't seem to realize that you are suppose to do the same thing you did before.....and some say straight out that you are not suppose to oil your locs or don't wash often...and they wonder why their hair stinks or has a lot of build up....
