@XboxDCG She's only had a few years to store up the emotional experiences that you and I take for granted ... So, she was experiencing the feelings and sensations of a woman's body through the mind of a young girl...So, he was, and I'm speculating here...just being a bit dramatic but trying to firmly have her submit to being seduced...remember she said, "I can't rely on ... " I would imagine she was going to say "these feelings" or "these emotions" ... anyone else care to comment ?
@MyceliaProductions42 the movie is 30 years old but the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? dated from 1968. it's a look into the future from 1968! to me it' makes it more frightening ! Because every thing which is described in the book happenned or is about to. Philip K Dick was a visionnary. He died before the movie was released!,
This amazing, portent of a movie is more than just a cool look at a future of 40-year (by 1982 standards). It's a warning of what may have happened, and what can STILL happen (don't fool yourselves) if we slip too much. Imagine...all that we have gained for so many millennia...lost...because of the horrific ineptitude of a certain minority to see such wonderment, such accomplishments of a bizarre form of evolved-ape...utterly laid to waste for no real reason other than avarice. Imagine better.
Just recorded it on my keyboard, with a different background, using his signature "Blade Runner dark pad" instead of the "bleeps". (Memories Of Green was composed 2 years before Blade Runner.) Just click on my avatar to check it out in my channel. Thanks!
Rachel was the lady that opened my eyes to a different moment in my life, what an incredible timeless movie, with timeless music, that just works, Thank you Vangelis, and thank you again Ridley Scott, Harrison, Sean, Daryl.
J've seen this movie so many times...it's a master piece...makes you thinking abuot...life...beloved people...Lost in time like tears in the rain...so many questions...Timeless...:)
I'm going to watch the VHS version on my huge Projection TV again...because you amazingly tender and evolved Souls have inspired me to see it again ... the graininess and the softness of the old Projection TV makes me feel fuzzy and warm all over ... :-) ... Tell a STRANGER about Bladerunner ...
Algonquin Provincial Park Cache Lake August 2008 Water Colour Paint Kit is a video I created using this sound track in dedication to Rachel and the photograph of her mother. When you watch the shot in the movie the background in the picture has shadows moving...totally blew me away....technically perfect Movie and Vangelis adds to the perfection...really the only composer who could accomplish such a work of art.
i have to stop myself watching this film so it doesnt wear out on me, i could happilly watch it every couple of weeks though :( this song is so evocative
A NEW blade runner!!! Hoe hum.... I have two DVD box sets I got last year. One is the full set of Blade Runner the other the complete Prisoner series from the 60's. Now they made a new Prisoner series and I should think a 'New' Blade Runner will be just about as successful. It’s not just the music, it’s the Direction. Some films are just such a statement a new one just can’t match it. Good luck to the makers, but this one’s a classic.
@bushsuxcheney - how the fuck is it, no-one in this film dies of smoking. it's not tobacco that's dodgy it's the 200+ toxins that get added to it, and the chemicals it is grown with. stop ruining this amazing music. k.y.
To think, this movie almost didn't make it! Lack of funding & over budget. The beginning of the movie, we fly through exploding plumes of gas, pumped high above the city, and then to the rain socked city streets, accompanied by the hunting music of "Vangelis" When i first saw this movie on the big screen, the cinematography was ammazing and the sound track, BRILLIANT. Eaven with the new CGI or even the new tech, CGI3D can never top this movie. this movie was in real time, ON REAL SETS!!
Absolutely...Besides, who is more human? The mindless terminator, who is legally human or the man made androids who are more capable of mercy and empathy than the original?
While listening to this song I have to pause and reflect. Who am I and where am I going? Will my existence be "lost in time like tears in the rain?" It's oddly comforting to know that years after i'm gone, people will still be pondering these same questions. This film is timeless.
@rayray66 possibly , maybe Jesus will silence these rumors of the 21st century, I love this sound track, i love the flim, didnt read the book lol, i heard a new blade runner is in production..
@TheGrowdaddy, yes, the Chinese man to whom Roy said one of the most memorable lines in the history of cinema, one that makes me want to stand up and applaud when I listen to it:
"If only you could see what I have seen with your eyes!"
@TwinVulcan ... beautiful words TwinVulcan ... I can visualize myself there with you ... everytime I hear Bladerunner I am reminded of so many friends that I grew up with in Los Angeles/Hollywood and how long ago it was and that a lot of them are gone now ... there's just a certain feeling I get when I see Bladerunner ... and that magic, haunting Vangelis music ... makes me cry everytime ... without fail, everytime
@flatl1n3 I think you're right. I've watched it 4 times in, like, the last 6 days...and something tells me to cool it, or the magic will get burned out. Unbelievable movie though.
You could watch Bladerunner a hundred times and trust me, you will still see new things for years to come! As you watch, listen to voice inflections in harmony with the music~like when Pris says, "I'm hungry J.F." he says, "I got some stuff inside, you wanna' come in?" She smiles, "I was hoping you'd say that" innocently he turns to insert his house key into the lock and her face turns dastardly and the music spews out a lone french horn ... mimic to a howling cat ... way cool
Es increible la sensibilidad de Vangelis cuando nos describe, con esta sutileza, los recuerdos de una hermosísima androide. Simplemente, no puedes creer que ella no se a humana ( y de hecho no lo es).
what a great movie, nothing these days even with the technology and special effects can reach the armony between the music and the storie of these film...and rachel is an artificial angel.
@28Zeppelin - SEAN YOUNG IS CONSIDERED "PAST HER PRIME" AND "IRRELEVANT" IN HOLLYWOOD THESE DAYS. I SAW HER SAY THESE VERY THINGS IN AN INTERVIEW ON TV JUST LAST WEEK. THOUGHT U MIGHT WANNA KNOW.
@MrRoxxstar who gives a shit? She has timeless beauty ... amazing ... gorgeous ... I would drop everything and marry her right his moment ... without hesitation ...
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?...The movie, the music, the final monologue came after...the book was the seed...Philip K. Dick was a genious...By the way I frigging love the movie and adore the music...this work of art stimulates the mind, the senses and the soul...
she was an android told she had a past with family ties and needs to remain sophisticated and needed -she was not prepared for being treated with sincere need to be loved from the Blade Runner - like tears in the rain -

The funny thing is that they all felt the movie was a failure, and so did the public and critics. Lo and behold, it's recognized as the best Sci-Fi movie of all time.
@analogig - I know what you mean....the soundtrack is amazing....but the movie is too...I think they form a perfect symbiotic relationship....without the other, they would be nothing....
Quite sad when Rutger Hauer's character dies at the end and you realise he wasn't all that evil . He just wanted to live a bit longer and have more of a life - a better quality of life: quite a human quality really. We all want to leave our mark on the world when we go.
@BarrySlisk I don´t think so. He had a very powerfull reason: he was searching answers about his origins, his friends, and his live. I have a question for you: ¿How many people woud kill for saving their lives?
By asking me that you are only asking if I am evil. No I am not going to kill innocent people. I would kill street punks without blinking, but not innocent people.
Besides, killing Sebastian did not get him closer to his goal, so he killed him for no reason at all. He was evil !
Best soundtrack for the best future movie.........

Yes, a sequel is bad, but it is the lesser of two evils.

In the book she is a total bitch and the movie makes her a angel, but that cool. Saw this in 6th grade and it blew my mind.

Quite sad when Rutger Hauer's character dies at the end and you realise he wasn't all that evil . He just wanted to live a bit longer and have more of a life - a better quality of life: quite a human quality really. We all want to leave our mark on the world when we go.
28Zeppelin 5 months ago 5
@28Zeppelin The character killed alot of persons just to try.. So he was actually evil.
lilledan 4 months ago
@28Zeppelin
He was evil. He killed Sebastian among others for no reason at all.
BarrySlisk 3 months ago
@BarrySlisk I don´t think so. He had a very powerfull reason: he was searching answers about his origins, his friends, and his live. I have a question for you: ¿How many people woud kill for saving their lives?
EdAG62 3 months ago
@EdAG62
By asking me that you are only asking if I am evil. No I am not going to kill innocent people. I would kill street punks without blinking, but not innocent people.
Besides, killing Sebastian did not get him closer to his goal, so he killed him for no reason at all. He was evil !
