  • I hate that fucking riff:|

I never, ever want to hear that riff again

  • Man you've been robbed. Someone stole your mids!! :)

  • I really like the clarity of the K100s. Though I do agree, more mids are good, what ever, that's not the point of this video! Thanks for the demo!

  • All 4 of them are bad, you should give them away. Heres my adress

  • Could be a gorilla practise amp for all we know.

  • wheres the mids????

  • mas potencia amigo suena para el ojete

  • all those tones sound weak :/ sorry

  • i feel like im in guitar center listening to noobs play guitar -___-

  • @marrag1 I feel like you didn´t get the point of the video. He´s showing us the amp tones, not his skills

  • @GlockenspielSAS just turns out these tones are bollocks.

  • @GlockenspielSAS: it was done poorly, plus the label of the video indicates guitar variations, not amp tone testing.

fearedse (Olaf) does a way better job testing amps.

  • @sehnsucht77 Ola is great, of course, I was just trying to point out that he´s not trying to show up his skills

  • Learn a new song.

  • @samuelcellibird1 It's a tone test, he's supposed to play the same riff so you can hear the different configurations.

  • What's causing that fuzzy background sound at 3:31? Im having the same problem and I can't fucking get rid of it!

  • @iluvpigeons That is the distortion of the amp. Try less gain and maybe try using a tube screamer but less drive on the amp. Another Problem with fuzzyness is, that most active EMG Pickups have that much output gain that the signal, coming from the guitare, is already clipping. You can avoid that Problem with better Pickups like Dimazio LiquiFire or Bareknuckle Aftermath. In my opinion the Pickups are the most crucial thing to gain a stunning clean sound and a brutal distortion tone.

  • @Baltheruis I always thought EMG's and Seymour Duncans were like the rolls royce of pickups? Countless numbers of the worlds biggest and best musicians use them.... And I know, everyone keeps telling me to 'turn the gain down', but then the sound isn't as brutal and bad ass... Is there no such thing as an amplifier that can give brutal tone without that shitty fuzz sound?

  • @iluvpigeons turned down gain is not the problem here. He's using nearly no Mids on the EQ, that's why the tone is so fizzy.

  • @auron2301 I use Pod Farm 2.5 on the Line 6 UX2 using the Line 6 insane head and there is no options for changing mids.

  • mick thompson signature amp

  • sounds like shit.

  • What speakers did you guys think sounded the best with each guitar? I personally liked the K100 best on all. It seems the clearest.

  • MORE GAIN!!!!!

  • I hate when people play guitar with mids. It is "honky" shit. annoying as a car horn in your f'n ear. Cut the damn mids and listen to the beauty and smoothness of great tone.

  • @squirttilithurts you have to use mids when playing in a band or noone will hear you, but alone, kill em

  • The blackouts sound awful

  • great riff!!!

  • He may have set his mids too low or almost completely off, but it's not that big a deal, you're supposed to scoop mids anyway, he just went a little far is all.

  • 8 strings win

  • the eclipse with emgs, boost going through the celestion K100's

  • 1:35 is that a PRS? those guitars are sooo amazing. they are bloody expensive though. well worth it

  • eclipse ftw !!!

  • it's actually in Drop Bb lol

  • what was the V guitar you had?

  • @gianniswildchild I believe thats the ESP Okkultist (he calles it 'Occultist' in the vid?). Its Silenoz's sig. guitar.

  • mmmmmmids.

  • i'd rather play through a 15 watt squier amp

  • @JacobiSparks . . . I cannot believe you would try to reference the tone in your videos to try and win this argument. ARE YOU JOKING? Through a Raven??!! ToneSUCK

  • No Mid = Nooby Fail.

  • vintage 30s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • mick thompson told us his amp is not muddy... what the hell did you do to it?

  • Worst tone ever. It sounds so thin and empty, no punch, no balls, really dead sounding...

  • The 8string guitar sounds like a badass distortion bass

  • @CASHVAI7 The 8th string is a bass string I believe.

  • Btw, the first sound clips is the best. The Eclipse sounds the best.

  • Celestion Vintage 30's fucking KILL the other speakers! Jesus, what a difference!

  • Lol this tone is like the complete opposite of what drop tuning needs to have.

  • These are killer amps its just not set very well

  • sounds to me like some amp sim with no speaker simulation...

  • @hellraiser7974 yes, that comes pretty close

  • No mids and like no gain? Wtf is this shit?

  • this is a waste of 6:01 minutes.

  • Sounds terrible :L

  • sounds horrible man

  • midrange is for faggots and false guitar players, if it was up to me and i had this amp id get the mid-range button and circuitry removed. using mid range means youre gonna sound like crap and be crap. mids are the scum of guitar sound. i am right and you lot are wrong

  • @SwirlyBrokenHearts Middle scoop is for people who play in a metal band, with only guitars-bass-drum. Try to play with some violins while scooping the mids, you wouldn't hear your guitar at all. I've tried =)

  • @niahaa that makes no sense, sounds to me as if your having your violin setup through the same amp as the guitars, lol u need to turn the volume up of the violins, have seperate amp, add some EQ, try harder lol

  • @SwirlyBrokenHearts No. I tried with violins and even synth strings. If you scoop the mids, you will hear some kind of distortion wall, far behind the others frequences. You must read what espuser wrote for you ;)

  • @niahaa read what espuser wrote ???/ LOL!!!! bro my advice to you, and im a major player in teh metulz is losing the mids for the guitar, of course keep the mid-range for the violin as it seems you want to keep the natural aesthetic of violin tone, you need a seperate amp for the violin, theres loads and loads of bands ive heard who put other instruments in with a low-mid hi-gain (metal) guitar and it comes out fine, seperate amp or pre record Vio and layer over the guitars in i.e Cubase

  • @SwirlyBrokenHearts 'cause you thought I put guitar and violins into the same amp ? O_O

Ok, so lets doing things simply : I like when I have mids on my guitar sound. To me it sounds empty without mids. And I'm not a false guitar player. So stop thinking your the best guitar sound builder ever, go with your scooped mids, let free mids likers, but don't call them faggots or false guitar players : that's respectless.

  • @SwirlyBrokenHearts

you're obviously never going to become someone in guitar business. mids are the only frequencys that sound (good) in a band. and if you call players like alexi laiho, paul gilbert, misha mansoor or björn gelotte faggots and false guitar players, well then you know very well who's the troll in here ;)

  • you're obviously never going to become someone in guitar business (you dont know that dumbfuck mids are the only frequencys that sound (good) in a band> no they fucking dont as proved here, midrange destroys the sound korns bassist has spoken out against mids and hear how good korns bass sounds, its perfection compared to your shitlist the only troll here is you, screw mids and get real, slpiknot didnt use mids neither did pantera neither does depsised icon, epic bands with epic sound > no mids

  • @SwirlyBrokenHearts you have no idea of sound. watch the 6505 vid by fearedse! mids on 7, best sound ever! btw, slipknot sucks and has no sound @ all, testament has way better sound!

  • @givemeajackson haha, testament ftw :D

  • @doktorlindblood my words

  • @SwirlyBrokenHearts It's all in the personal taste. If you don't like mids, don't use 'em. Personally, I use the mids to add some extra grit to my sound and help me cut through the mix, especially in solos. I sometimes like the sound of scooped mids, but it depends on the situation. If I'm doing something that's fast and articulate with a lot of stuff going on, scooped stuff just doesn't tend to let all the notes and overtones poke through. Then again, I'm a black/death metal guy.

  • OKKULTIST, I'M NORWEGIAN!

  • This video does this amp no credit at all. how the hell did you turn one of the greatest tube amps into one of the worst sounding pieces of shit ever?!

  • You have taken one of the most versitile high gain amps and made it sound shitty

Also for people saying midrange is shit, the guitar is a midranged instrument, they are supposed to be there, and whatever happened to the nice midrange crunch from a cranked plexi

  • Comment removed

  • Engl ftw.

  • great guitars crappy player and crap settings on your amp

  • midrange = guitar butchering :D

  • You know, mids are usually 'scooped', not turned almost all the way down.

  • Blackouts all the way!! ;) Nothing beats AHB-2!

  • @joshTHFRO i think your right, because my pussy told me that your pussy loves scooped mids too so i guess its something our pussies have in common! We can have a play date between 250Hz and 5KHz since there are no midrange frequencies in the way to fuck with us.

again...FUCK MIDS AND GIVE THE PUSSIES A PLACE TO PLAY!!!!!

  • @stiffiusmaximus I think mids have their place, like i totally agree that the sound is alot heavier and all of that with the mids way down, but for a lead guitar mids should at least be 1 or 2 dials above the bass. unless of coarse your playing straight deicide or cannibal, or grindcore or stuff like that.

  • @stiffiusmaximus like as a rule I keep my mids down to like 2/10, my bass at 4/10, and my treble at 6-7/10 because i tend to like the heavyer sound, but i do rythym, so every chug that i do has a bass drum to compliment it, and every chord or set of chordes has a cymbal. but leads are totally different.

  • do you know any other riffs?not knocking you but damn

  • i think the only person ive seen who knows how to eq this amp and not sound like shit is mick

  • Unfortunately, this riff is now going to be stuck in my head. Enough to drive one insane.

  • scooped as fuck, sounds like a metalzone

  • back out the bass a shitload, and try some mids; this sounds like someone's farting into an empty beer bottle

  • 2:34 wow that guys hair grows fast

  • the tone is good maybe better with a little bit more of gain

  • Sounds very thin and stale. Tune to E Standard and play something good.

  • When it doesn't sound like fucking Muddy McFart, it sounds like thin, paper-like crackly crap.

  • crappy sound. not tight and defined. and the distortion is mushy and static. this amp has great features but the sound sucks, atleast in this demo.

  • For fuck's sake, turn your mids up

  • @MarcusRomanin FUCK MIDS!!!! lol

  • @MarcusRomanin

midrange is for faggots, turn that shit down - sounds like flowery fairy shit.

  • @MarcusRomanin That's all I could think throughout the whole video.

  • @MarcusRomanin everyone likes different tones. although this is very muddy.

  • @MarcusRomanin No real metal player uses mids. My setting have Mids on 0 or 1/1 1/2, with a scoop.

  • @JacobiSparks bullshit!

  • @Heretic123456 Depends what metal I guess. I'm talking Heavy Metal Post-Hardcore Metalcore stuff, no one uses mids on that.

  • @JacobiSparks sorry but thats just not true.....just listen to some records of as i lay dying, unearth, all that remains and so on. you can clearly hear that they dont use scooped amp settings.

  • @JacobiSparks Fail... Have you ever played in a metal band ? A lack of mid, and no one will hear you guitar, any good guitar player knows that.

  • @Sniperkitten971 Mids makes it sound shitty as fuck, I really don't care what you have to say, everyone has their settings the way they want it, and as I said, sounds like shit with a bunch of mids. Watch my videos, my guitars sound fine, wanna know why? No mids. Point proven.

  • @JacobiSparks Point proven ? Your video sounds like shit dude... Almost everyone here agree with that ! Moreover, depending on your guitar, your amp, and if you can play well, you may have a badass sound with plenty of mediums !

In your house, you play alone, you do whatever you want, it's ok. But in a band, bass belong to bass and drums, and treble to voice and cymbals. The only thing that remains for guitar is medium. If you don't use it, no one will hear you. Point proven.

  • @Sniperkitten971 on my amp i cut the mids completely out. but i do hot rod the amp with an MXR M108 and i boost the mids by 12 db at 1khz and cut back by 6db at 500 hz. :) itss nice and heavy yet punchy.

  • @DimebagDarrellCFH33 It's a good way avoid "no-mid problems" ;) Anyway I prefer to choose an aggressive amp (6505, Engl...) with aggressive pick-ups (EMG 81, Blackouts, ...) and then use mids on my amp. Or even better : Two different amps, a 6505 with V equalization dual with an Orange with shitload of mids ! Quite hard to set up in a band, but the sound is just massively destroyfull :D

  • @Sniperkitten971 besides that, the mids give the guitar their tonal character apart from being noise (distortion) only place where you dont "need" mids is for os black metal or os death metal

  • @Sniperkitten971 Sure !! I once worked with a guitar player that had only trebles (a lot), basses (less), and no medium, and who was runnin his guitar through a crappy boss metal zone. He was really loud and no one noticed he was playing during the whole show, and the sound engineer could do nothing as he was already on maximum volume !

  • @DoctorPermafrost And I didn't notice but he has too much gain...

  • @Heretic123456 Agreed.

  • OMG. This is one of the crappiest tubeamp sounds ive ever heard. Muddy as hell.

  • @Criz666666 What the fuck would you know? You're probably 12.

  • @Criz666666 thats slipknot tone for you

  • @Criz666666 its made for ultra low metal playing, its made for the lead guitar player for slipknot

  • very bassy sound, i dont like :(

  • @Royzilber grow nuts

  • you'll hate the riff by the time the video is over hahahaha

  • This sounds like all around shit. Horrible settings.

  • it would be very interesting to see the blackouts in the eclipse (didnt see it if there was) and lol the T75's make the 8 string sound an octave lower

  • for each guitar everything sounded muddy except with the vintage 30's

  • 30s all the way

  • wheres the mids?

when i was playing in a death metal band i kept my mids at 6 at all times still sounded heavy.

  • @SonOfVipers

midrange makes you a gay guitarist unworthy of any recognition whatsoever. like fieldy from korn proudly speaks out - "Get that midrange, and turn that S@%& OFF!!!!!!!!" remember the quote.

  • play something new besides same thing over agian

  • Can someone explain a few things to me about this guitar shit? Idw to know how to "play" I'm an excellent guitar "player" but idk shit about what any of this means. I've been playing for years. Like what's Celestion T75's? Or KR7? I know EMG is the pickup & isn't pickup the type of thing by where you pluck?

  • @Corruptedinfernal

You've been playing for years, but you don't know what a pickup is?

So are you retarded or just full of shit?

  • @Corruptedinfernal you obviously haven't done grades because you need that for grade 1

  • @Fear3001 look idk wtf the shit is ok? i just listen to a song and play what i hear. it takes me about 2 minutes if i just keep replaying that part over, but i do all my shit by ear. i kno some but not that much, i took guitar lesons but just learned how to play, i kno how to play anything you want me to on guitar really, i can't find anything i can't. i never thought the grids mattered b/c i just play what i want....

  • beastly fucking 8 string

  • That 8-string is hitting brown notes.

  • good test !!!!!!

  • The Vintage 30's sound the best

  • The Celestion K100's sound pretty nice. Wish I had the money

  • Wow, before i thought i liked the 75's, but the 30's are bitchin.

  • Very nice man very very detailed video of the different speakers/guitars/settings. I've gotten my favorite sound to come out of eminence legends (120W) (Vader Cabinet 4x12) and a XXX peavey head, using on board distortion and a boss NS-2 pedal. I like the ESP eclipse the best, you can play drop A on one and it'll still sex the tone up.
