  • Chaka is Chaka, Whitney is Whitney and Lisa is Lisa.

At present, Lisa probably outsings both Chaka and Whitney. Not knocking either, but both Whitney and Chaka have past their prime vocally, but they still hold their own on recordings and on stage, by providing pleasure to fans. I don't think they'd win new fans at this point in their careers with their voices in their current states.

  • @cancer63 @cancer63 you cant compare them they are all unique different tones and different ranges 3 different styles but I must say that when it comes to skills riffs adlibs improvisation etc these three are mediocre to be honest there are alot better singers out there that are not household names they just havent had deals with major labels or are in a musical genre that doesnt sell big numbers or just cant be bothered with fame.Kim Burrell, misha paris, karen clark,Dawn tallman

  • @soulfulLuva Please Karen Clark Sheard, Kim Burrell are good with that gospel yelling but when comes down to singing it right, Lisa, and Whitney could demolish them vocally especially when Nippy taking care of her voice. Whitney was in hoarse voice gospel celebration and all you can hear her soprano all over Kim just saying!

  • @cancer63 there is also a whole load of unknown girls that sing lead in church choirs these girls are great but trust me there is alot better the difference is they have made great songs.

  • @cancer63 Take it too account Lisa is about 50 here and she still belting crystal clear, and made clearer than Chaka. Her vocal technique is very great and she takes care of her voice like Rachelle Farelle. Whitney could sound this good still is she was not lazy and taking care of her voice like she once did. Nippy lazy sometimes.

  • Ain't Nobdy like CHAKA KHAN!!!!!! I have been in this forever and I can tell you being in the presence of all of these ladiies and hearing them sing right in front of me I can tell you that these girls can only dream of singing some of the vocal stuff that CHAKA sings! My sister sang background for Whitney Houston for years and I got to sit in on a few rehersals and I have been around Chaka long enough to know those women don't stand a chance vocally ever in there prime!

  • @shamoriwall They are all great legendary singers....In this world honey yu will not find and cannot compare them... Only God can and he define who is the best in all.. We all in this world have our own unique talent so please do not compare and make judgement towards these talented ladies...Let us all enjoy their talent just as God bless them....God bless you ...

  • @shamoriwall I agree Lisa now can outsing Whitney but not in her prime. Whitney and Lisa Fischer hands down are the best singers that ever came out period Luther would agree to that probably. Them heffas can sang sang sang and anybody's song yes Chaka and make their own. Now, Whitney's voice is tired to touring massively and everything. If Lisa toured as soloist like Nippy did and had her problems her voice would be tired too. But no doubt Whitney and Lisa could both outsing Chaka!!!!!

  • Great!!!!

  • Missingcairo is the only objective one in this video. Whitney sat Chaka down, so could Lisa with ease.

  • You guys are just biased Chaka fans. Lisa owned this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheryl Pepsi Riley another singer that can own a Chaka song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lisa is doing it here but Lisa is a finesse singer, something she learned from singing background all these years. You really get the sense of who she is vocally with her hit "Ease the Pain". She obviously can belt it out but she doesn't do that consistently when she sings, she goes in and out Chaka's songs are belt songs through and through. It would be just as hard for Chaka to sing Lisa's tune. It's a different energy that they would give to each other's songs but still great nonetheless.

  • @prof32 very astute comment :)

  • Loveeeeeeee LIsaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Lisa is Sick, she can ease my pain anytime...

  • It's always a pleasure watching and listening to Lisa Fisher.

  • Do you have more of this video clip? And where was this filmed at?

  • I think Lisa did a great verison of Ain't Nobody. I couldn't see Chaka doing How Can I Ease The Pain better than Lisa. I think they are both awesome singers.

  • What are yall talking about. No Lisa is not Chaka Khan but nor is Chaka Khan Lisa Fischer. Go back and time and remember the 87 concert when Chaka gave Lisa the note in Night of Tunesia..Lisa Fisher has been singing Chaka Khan for a long time and this clip shows why Chaka gave her that note way back.

  • just some response to the video description

  • Your freestyle junkie subscribers are being exposed to some culture! Love it Bob

  • i expected freestyle lol

  • Anyone who does a Chaka Khan cover, even a top caliber singer like Lisa Fischer would just fail in comparison. Goes to show how effortlessly Chaka sings those notes and why nobody can touch her. Reminds me of Whitney singing IEW. Great as she is, she just lacks the power of the Supreme Diva!

  • I agree. IEW is arguably the most difficult non-classical song to sing and Chaka delivers like she's having a pleasant conversation. Whitney at her height was great but she struggles with the bridge even on the recording.

  • Comment removed

  • To add some fuel to this brewing fire here guys...I saw Lisa F. do back up for Chaka in Germany back in the 80s and when Chaka refused or was unable to hit her high notes in her drugged out state it was Ms. Fischer she beckoned to to blow the roof off....!!!... No one does Chaka,no one does Aretha and no one does Patti or Aretha... they all do themselves...Yolanda,Whitney,Christina al of them do themselves best...Quincy had SIX versions of Put A Move On My Heart n Tamia's made the hit 4 him..!!

  • They had a concert of that. You're talking about "Night In Tunisia" where Chaka introduces Lisa on the bridge of the song.

As far as "Put A Move On My Heart" goes, I'm partial to Mica Paris's version. I just felt they didn't do anything with that particular cd of hers. Talk about a singer who's been underrated. Mica is awesome with that smoky alto.

  • Chaka screams the IEW bridge and Whitney hits crystal clear with full vibrato and trust Whitney is a notch higher.............. You don't understand notes and clarity. Whitney does a half step higher, it just her voice so clear.

  • You clearly lack the credibility to talk about what I know or don't know - that's besides the point. To say Chaka screams the bridge of IEW proves your ignorance on the subject - she is full on belting. Be a Whitney fan if you must but don't act like you know what singing is. In the bridge of IEW, Chaka delivers with ease, grace and maintains vibrato. Whitney struggles on the recording and never sung it live properly. At her height and in her element, Whitney was great, but now that's a wrap.

  • Please Chaka sounded raspy and very throaty in comparison to Whitney in the bridge and Whitney's was higher. Good head with that! Whitney's backing vocals made the song in way on both rendition. Whitney let Chaka know divas live when Whitney was just belting all types of notes like nothing in her face.

  • Whitney didn't even try the bridge on that diva bull shit - what are you talking about? As for the recording; Chakas voice is bigger and thicker than Whitney's but it's not raspy and she takes it higher and lower than Whitney.

  • Whitney was being kind and let Chaka do that bridge and she sounded terrible at that bridge. Please Lisa voice is stronger than Chaka's. Most of time background singers have stronger voices than the actually lead singer. When Chaka couldn't hit the high notes in the 80's Lisa hit them baby with ease. Lisa still can hit any note she feels like including whistle notes. She would sit Chaka down with the quickness.

  • Lisa and Whitney both were background vocalist to Chaka so if any one could handle Chaka it is either one of them. Please they been sanging along time and know the all of Chaka vocal tricks. Now singers like Mary J, Jenn Hud etc can't hang with Chaka put Lisa and Whitney could with ease and do something to sit Ms Khan down.

  • Ok, I'm done with you. You clearly don't know what you're talking about. Lisa's voice stronger than Chaka's? Absolutely ridiculous. Sounds like you think singing is about high notes - it's much more than that. Go on making excuses for the ones you like. I absolutely love Lisa Fischer but I realize that there's a reason she's a 1 hit wonder, and Whitney's WAY over so good luck betting on them. Chaka is still relevant as a headliner. You don't know the difference between fact and opinion.

  • Whitney far from over. Honey, she has been working with a vocal coach and getting her life back. Wait until she give all these divas a run for their money like she already has. Nobody has nothing on Whitney no matter what she been through. So stop hating you biased Chaka fan. You must be fool not to think Lisa can sing better than Chaka. Chaka more successful, but the truth is Lisa would give her a run for her money.

  • thekaliko, have you listened to Lisa Fischer live? She has a waaaaay stronger voice than Chaka. Ms Khan may be extremely talented, but Lisa is gifted. The only reason Lisa's a one hit wonder is because she was screwed over by the record company. Her only solo album won a grammy - that says something! By the way, Whitney is a damn strong bet and far from over, so watch as she once again assumes her throne in Sept 2009.

  • all i will say is that their have been times when chaka hasnt been in the best voice but lisa and whitney bein stronger orkind to chaka i think not trust i have just seen chaka last week and she is in a very good place vocally so i dont think they could sit ms. chaka down even if they try.she got alot of tricks up her sleeve trust..

  • There is a reason so many noteworthy singers have either sung background for Chaka or still hail her influence.

  • Check out NYC Radio City Concert 1994 she sings a notch higher than Chaka there totally live and there plenty of times during the Bodyguard tour she goes higher than studio rendition. Whitney started to lose her range due to excessive touring and nodules but even then she still hit the high notes better than Chaka!

  • Hopefully you realize the difference between fact and opinion.

  • Lisa is an amazing singer but it really shows how difficult Chaka songs are to sing but how easy Chaka makes it look. Great energy from Lisa, wish there was more live stuff from her on here. Thanks for posting

  • but its good to see someone else singing a Chaka song, from there we can always remember how great and how effortless Chaka delivers!! truely incomparable!!

  • OK version! But as good as LISA is , she's no CHAKA! And AIN'T NOBODY IS AND WILL ALLWAYS BE CHAKA'S! NEXT!

  • ah yess! HOLLA!! ain't nobody !!

  • If us Chaka Khan fans want her music to live on forever... we have to accept someone else singing it. I remember Diana Ross being the brightest star in music when I was growing up. Ask the MTV generation who she is and they will not be able to tell you because no one is singing her songs. The reason Chaka, Aretha, and Tina are so popular still is beacause They still perform and people remake their music. There is no reason to compare the two... there is room for both.

  • Please Lisa would give Chaka probably any singer that tried to step a run for their money, come on. Whitney would put Chaka to shame like divas 1999. Whitney sung background for Chaka so she knows all her little tricks better than anybody honey. Both Whitney and Lisa are in the league by themselves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The only reason why I went there is because you guys trying to hate on Lisa when she can clearly outsing Chaka with ease come on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I hate to admit it, but Whitney did sit Chaka down at Divas 1999. I have tried to put that out of my head. Lisa's voice is like a rollercoaster... she takes you everywhere with it... and honestly I would put her in the top five singers EVER! But trying to compare these ladies is like trying to decide between the chocolate cake and the peach cobbler... there is always room for both on my plate!

  • Yeah, you fucking asshole...Why would you even make such comparison when Chaka was clearly sick? FUCK YOU

  • Totally agree about putting Lisa Fischer in the top 5 female singers ever. Whitney, who was, is and will always be my No.1 even at her vocal peak would've been given a run for her money by Lisa. To hear Lisa sing How Can I Ease The Pain in Japan 1992 is a sublime experience.

  • @missingcairo 100 percent agree with your comment. Voted up! :)
