@CALDWELLisGOD if you look at the countries around the world generally considered the most progressive, democratic, fair and tolerant, you will usually find they are constituional monarchies. EG: Netherlands, Sweden , Denmark (all the scandanvian countries actually), even the UK. On the other hand, if you look at the world's republics you end up with China, Iran, North Korea, the USA and others purveyors of intolerance and human right's abuse. The proof of the pudding is in the eating.
@KingArthurseaton I think it has more to do with that the constitutional monarchies have gotten through a longer history than the republics. China is still getting used to being a modern country, and North Korea and Iran are republics in name only.
I must express my protest against your advice for the consumption of Balkan Mixture on a wedding day, especially during the spring. The mixture contains Latakia and tends to cause certain disposition among the young ladies. In my opinion natural Virginia mixture or even aromatic flake would be much better choice.
@CALDWELLisGOD "It's 2011 and we still have a Royal Family. I find that absolutely incredible; in a modern society there should not be an aristocracy."
And so do Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Luxembourg, Japan.....
There's no need to pretend that the Royal Family makes Britain an outcast among nations.
A fine broadcast. Surely it is time for the Royal Family to drop the ghastly, suburban moniker of 'Windsor' which was adopted in haste during WW1 to forestall anti-teutonic sentiment. Reversion to their proper name of 'Saxe-Coburg-Gotha' would mark a due return to traditional values. And bring back £/s/d and proper imperial weights and measures as well. Oh, and the Empire too while we're at it.
I think that you will find that your attitudes (surely pipe-in-cheek?) betray a certain un-Chapness. Liberals (not today's opportunists) most certainly dressed in tweeds, smoked a good pipe, and would shrink from the company of those who wear the monarchy on their sleeve or - dread words - "Tee"-shirt, rotters who would today read one of the appalling rags of the foreign billionaire "Mr." Rupert Murdoch. To read The Chap as supporting your views would be an act of the utmost superficiality.
Hey, bigot, do the whole world a favour and smash your worthless head open like an eggshell and spew out what little brain your indoctrinated mind has.
@CALDWELLisGOD And with an elected official and a family that's been trusted and respected for years creates a balance of power which other countries don't have, which is quite logical.
@CALDWELLisGOD Making the transition from a constitutional monarchy to a republic could have dire ramifications to the UK.without the Queen any tyrant could gain absolute power.eg Oliver Cromwell. And without a Monarch to tie the nations of this country together think of what could happen to the UK.even though the Monarchy may not fully understand, they do their bit i.e taking a train during the recession, while the priminster fly to a meeting 'bout global warming instead of using video calls.
@CALDWELLisGOD Don't we have enough democracy? we have freedom of speech, freedom of press, rule of law etc.without the Queen as head of state she will just be replaced by another greedy politician, making our government unstable. An example of representation: during the war the Royal family could have to went to Canada leaving Britain to fight it's self but instead they supported our people, through morale boosting speeches, visiting bombed sites, visting hospital etc. They personify our country.
@CALDWELLisGOD And praise what ever greedy tyrannt of a ppolitician that gains power , I'm glad that we have a family that for centuries has represented it's people
I met Gustav and Michael "Atters" at a Soho pub one evening when I was totally rat arsed but , despite this and the fact that I interrupted their chat, they treated me with kindness and patience well beyond the call of duty. I myself would have walked away ... hats off to the two of you.
I once got sent a picture of a 'chap' front cover, the idea did not amuse me and I did not go forth to find where I could buy a copy. This video did not amuse me either, the comedic acting is appalling and does more harm than good towards your magazine.
Why this is featured on youtube's homepage baffles me.
Weddings are like krypton for Cads and must be avoided at all costs.
As any self respecting Cad should know it's the hen night that one needs an invite to. This obviously is a problem for a chap, but a Cad is ever resourceful. A fiendish plan needs to be hatched. Even if it means having to don 'some like it hot' apparel to slip through the security net. No mercy can be shown toward tipsy brides maids. With luck you will feel totally disgusted with yourself come morning. Splendid!
More splendidity chaps! Top show....and who on Earth is disliking this?

Atters appears to be sporting a haircut akin to that of my dear old nanny 'Whiffy'. Deary me, old boy, deary me.

I read the Chap, however I am a Monarcho- Dandyist. I detest anarchists and liberals, God save the Monarchy, God save Britain, and God save The Chap.
