  • that'll be my grandad Jack Leon. Weird seeing it on the internet. Only wish I could actually see any visuals of him : (

    Nick

  • It was quite the vogue for men to sing lyrics which were meant to be sung by women as few dance bands had female vocalists. Hylton's "Must have that man" & Jack Payne's "When the poppies bloom again" come to mind.

It is from the "Follow Thru" The Helen Kane version is very good too.

  • That is too funny to hear a man singing that song!

  • This is good to hear, I am so used to just hearing the Ambrose.I read this is from September 1929 and the excellent vocalist is Eddie Collis.

  • HE is singing "let a LADY confess..." but He is a 'HE" not a "She"...do You understand..ummm, what it is that Im tying to say Darling?

  • fantastic . love them all. but this is one of the best from that era!!!!

  • Thanks, but after hearing 85scampis "i want to be bad"by Ambrose, any other version doesnt seem quite so good!

  • Brilliant! Leon at his best as always.
