they're all failed wannabe rock stars at heart, very ill-advised by their own enormous ego's...you may know SPM or have interviewed him but you can never be him.Even Camden's largest venue cannot contain the horror of this festival of the overpayed, overfed, overexposed wagon train of vanity.
there is an element of vanity, in us all. but this was an alturistic thing to do because they were fans of morrissey and wanted to explain his unfortunate plight.
Russell Brand said about this on his radio show and said he was like "Don't shoot the messenger!" Personally I would rather see Russell Brand than Morrissey anyway :P
Hello! FK you retards - that was ME. I wasn't shouting 'fuck off' - I was shouting 'Russell', I love Russell Brand. Admittedly, I DO sound a bit mad.. What can I say? This person's camera phone was right by my mouth - I'm not quite this psychotic in real life.. It just sounds like that.
i was there too and you lie, you can either get your ticket money back or you can go see another morrisey show this summer for free, plus i got a hug and a autograph from wossy and russ, so im not completely gutted - i wanna see moz again in edinburgh this time :)
You can still download podcasts of both Jonathan and Russell on their respective radio 2 shows describing what happened here. Jonathan said that people thought he was taking the piss out of them and having watched it I can see why. Saying that both descriptions are very funny.
Aww bless them. Russell mentioned this incident on his Radio 2 show but I didn't think the crowd was this hostile. He was only doing his best for God's sake. He's a devout Morrissey fan himself.
I can't believe the reaction they got. The guys were there as fans themselves, and didn't have to get up like that. They weren't DRAGGED on stage by crew or anything, they got up there to try and explain to fellow fans as to why their hero had been taken ill, and were booed off. It wasn't their fault. I understand that the fans were upset, but you cannot take it out on Russell, David or Jonathan. I feel sorry for the three of them, no matter how much I dislike Walliams, they didn't deserve that!
hahaha quality. Download Ross' podcast on itunes and listen to him tell how he was accosted and threatened by a load of angry Mozites after the show - its hilarious
If people played money to go and see morrissey then he storms off after 4 songs then they arent gonna want to see these 3 giggling idiots. People came from all around the country to see him so i think they have a right to be annoyed. Personally Im annoyed that the gig on sunday was postponed as i had tickets for it. Also, the concert in N.Y that was postponed couldnt find a date to happen so it didnt in the end.
Ooh dear, just heard that the gigs aren't being rescheduled afterall... i feel sad about that (even though i got to my gig - was on the Wed). You poor people, i really do feel for you. It's weird, i had a bad feeling about the Fri & Sat gigs so didn't get tickets for those days, my reason at the time was because gigs on these days are usually full of drunk townie type fucks, but maybe i'm psychic?
Russell Brand was trying to help. That's fine. Jonathan Ross, as always, acted a complete tool. But having been at a few Morrissey gigs, a lot of the fans are total arseholes as well.
came all the way from greece for 2 days to watch this show and saturdays' as well. wasn't very impressed. i thought they (didn't even know who they were - still dont) were taking a piss or smth. i didnt boo but i think they should be a bit more sympathetic to people. we all know there are people dying to see moz live that's. as for me, i ll be there if it's rescheduled.
Aww Both Brand And Ross spoke about this. It was Walliams' and this person backstages idea to get them up and they didn't realise that they would be blamed. Some bloke tried to beat up Jonathon too. And Walliams got bottled.
We saw the Wednesday night gig at the Roundhouse, and Morrisey was already worried about his voice then, asking the crowd 'do you think I'm going to make it through the night', so it is genuine, however disappointing it was for the people on Friday.
Morrissey tends to cancel gigs if he breaks a fingernail...I have been a fan since '83, but He has cancelled a load of gigs at the last minute. Alice Cooper played on with 3 broken ribs once.....get well Moz, just don't expect me to look forward to seing you live....to say the least, truly disappointed.....beware the curse of Amy winehouse.......start Have some fucking respect for what fans you have left, Baybee..)..and don't even get me started on Pete Doherty.
i am a massive moz fan but i think us fans deserve the respect of a personal announcement not three morons doing his dirty work, the fans would never of booed moz if he called it off himself
Russell Brand is a funny guy, a lot funnier than I am, even on a good day. The problem was that the situation wasn't funny!! It required a simple business-like announcement assuring people they would either be given a refund or invited to a new date.
The unfortunate news was a lot more difficult to take from three people who probably didn't pay to get in anyway, attempting to turn it into a joke. It's like Brand turning up at my Mum's funeral cracking jokes in church trying to shag my sister.
Er.. I have to fess up. I have a sinking feeling that the hysterical woman shouting at the end- was me. I was standing right there at the front. AND I was shouting 'Russell!' - I love Russel Brand, I DEF wasn't shouting 'fuck off'. Obviously I was gutted about Moz- still adore him more than life, but would not have taken it out on those three! They actually at least brought a surreal and comic element to an otherwise disappointing evening. Poor Moz- get well soon.
Unfortunately these people represent a large propotion of Morrissey fans, behaving like they're at a football match instead of watching a very talented man perform. He has a sore throat, these things happen. It wouldn't be good for him to continue until he's better, so this is what he's doing. Shame the 'fuck off, fuck off, fuck off' losers aren't refused admission to the next show! Lets hope they 'change and be nice' before then.
I would have been gutted but i think it's pretty out of order to boo russell jonathan and david.. they were only the messengers, let alone throw stuff at them- it wasn't there fault he was ill.
Totally agree with 01kellym, Why are they just shouting abuse at Russel, Johnathan and David? They can't help it. What annoys me most is that people aren't showing 'Compassion', they call themselves fans. Fans are meant to stick with their artists through thick and thin. Russell, John and Dave should not have to put up with abuse!! Leave them alone!!!!
I was there and anyone listening could see the poor bloke tried to carry on. Some tossers behind dus were shouting abuse and calling him a pussy but I'd rather see him on top form at another time than obviously in pain. We bumped into Wossy, Brand and Walliams as they were leaving and a girl who was in teras asked for a photo and Wossy barked at her to go away! Wanker!!
What pisses me off is despite his celebrity status Russell Brand is a bigger Morrissey fan then most of the people that were there... (He even named his cat after the man) The only thing I dont agree with was Jonathan Ross at the end mocking "Playboys" in this clip..
I can't believe that, I would have been gutted, but i would have been so pissed off if no-one had said anything. It was good off them to step in. I think it was wrong of people to give them a hard time about something they could do nothing about.
People are unbelievable. It isn't Morrissey's fault that he is unwell, so why shout abuse at the people informing the audience? It doesn't matter that they were celebrities, even Roundhouse staff would have got that abuse. Some people are just scum and they sicken me and if I was Moz I don't know that I would even want to reschedule after such appaling behavior. Those idiots ruin it for the rest of us.
jesus, whats the point in getting angry about it, there's nothing they can do to bring him back on stage, its especially not fair that they were shouting abuse at brand, walliams, and ross.
that woman shouting 'fuck off' repeatedly at the end is properly out of order.
yeah i'd be gutted if i went to see my favourite band/artist and they left after three songs, but ultimately its not worth getting that needlessly angry about, show some compassion...
Think about it though, Morrissey is sick, maybe puking or passing out, the band is worried, the staff is tending to Morrissey, so the guys just go out to keep the crowd occupied and give them info. It was spur of the moment stuff. I work backstage at our local venue and I can totally see this happening. It's better than leaving the crowd uninformed. I just hope Morrissey gets well so you all can go see him perform healthy.
I can't believe that some people were angry - has it crossed their minds that it might also have been very upsetting for Morrissey that he had to stop, and that Russell, Jonathan and David were heroic for stepping in and keeping the audience informed, saving Morrissey from having to be in that awful position at a time when he would already have been frustrated. They were willing to stand there and do as best as they could to help.
I was there too, and I just think that Brand and Co were naive if they thought we would just be thrilled by their prescence. We were all there to see Morrissey and utterly disappointed so what did they expect.
Poor Morrissey, I was going to see him on the sunday night and it's been cancelled - and I'm not angry at him whatsoever. I'm just disappointed and hope he gets well soon.
I was there. What pissed me off most was the fact that Moz couldn't come out himself and make the announcement. I'm sure he had a few words left in him.
Brand's alright. Ross and Walliams just confirmed my suspicions that they're tossers, though why the 3 of them were carted out to do the announcement god only knows.
Moz shouldn't pretend a rich distaste of celebrity media then trot out three of its foremost sinners to do his dirty work.
it would have been fine if a band member or roundhouse staff had addressed the audience, but such arrogance and vanity-it is so insulting and cheapening that those b listers could imagine anyone would be impressed by them telling the audience the show was off.
This audience should be completely ashamed of themselves, what were expecting to happen? They were told that their tickets would still be valid in the future and they should have just accepted it, they should be grateful that they got any aftershow entertainment at all.
Im not a fan of Brand, but fair play to him and Wossy for attempting to settle the crowd...Walliams really should just give up and go into gardening or astronomy in general (as long as he's off tv)

thats what happens, they get violent and unreasonable

Was the woman at the end shouting "fuck off" or "Russell"?

think she was shouting mozzer

This comment has received too many negative votes show
I had the impression she was shouting 'fuck off,' to Walliams, who was trying to lighten things up by singing, and for that, I like her.

They were willing to stand there and do as best as they could to help.

i was at the barrier for this gig lol
as if they thought russell wud help soften the blow bout morrissey being ill ...
morrissey still my hero <3

Who lets the crowd know that a gig is cancelled by sending comedians out! They sounded very smug to me.
If I had been at the gig I would have been disheartened and then insulted when Brand was sent out as an envoy to tell me to go home.

I was there too, and I just think that Brand and Co were naive if they thought we would just be thrilled by their prescence. We were all there to see Morrissey and utterly disappointed so what did they expect.
BettyBlue808 4 years ago 2
Gutted - I was there. David Walliams got hit in the face with a coin, which was out of order.

Poor Morrissey, I was going to see him on the sunday night and it's been cancelled - and I'm not angry at him whatsoever. I'm just disappointed and hope he gets well soon.

Brand says 'its not my job i dont work here' EXACTLY. it was patronizing

Pathetic.

it would have been fine if a band member or roundhouse staff had addressed the audience, but such arrogance and vanity-it is so insulting and cheapening that those b listers could imagine anyone would be impressed by them telling the audience the show was off.
kraftwerk22 4 years ago
I actually thought they were shouting 'Russell!' - not 'fuck off'. Sad times all round though. I was gutted.
hgtfkgjk 4 years ago
This audience should be completely ashamed of themselves, what were expecting to happen? They were told that their tickets would still be valid in the future and they should have just accepted it, they should be grateful that they got any aftershow entertainment at all.

some of the fans were absolute jerks. disappointing!

Im not a fan of Brand, but fair play to him and Wossy for attempting to settle the crowd...Walliams really should just give up and go into gardening or astronomy in general (as long as he's off tv)
