wow and all my twirling teachers are amazed with my 6 spins xD (I JUST started catching them after not being able to twirl for about 4 monthes because i had knee surgery) and was thinking I was pretty good but now I kinda feel like going outside and start working on 7!!:)haha

I would like to thank everyone for leaving such positive messages. It is really nice to know that twirling enthusiasts are generally so good hearted. This was a difficult shoot for me. Caught a bunch of eleven spins the night before. Just got very tense, had a sticky floor and one of those days where you just tilt for no reason. I was embarrassed that I tapped my foot down and completed so few spins. I would puke my guts out if i tried even half this many today, so I find it more acceptable.
I'm working on my 4spin now, have caught it about 7-8 times. When I get that good enough I'm going to go up to 5, and maybe 6. Well I'm allowed to hope xD

Trying to catch a baton that was thrown way up in the air is hard ( not to forget to mention very painful at times ). But spinning while the baton is thrown way up in the air, and catch it ( without dropping it ) is very hard. I should know I went through baton lessons when I was a little kid.
Thats awesome! With all my years of twirling I managed to get a 7 spin. I worked my hardest on trying an 8 but never succeded. I would love to keep up with twirling but just have no time or place to practice. I've twirled since I was 2 & I'm not 22. I loved every minute of it!
Someone set a new world record for 11 spins under the baton. It was at my majorette competition. Me on the other hand, I'm working on a double but i want to try the record someday

Hi! I get asked about my nice teeth all the time! I was very lucky, all eight came out of the bottom. Most of them had the roots attached and they were re-planted with a wire in my lower jaw. They don't look quite so nice in person!

Have seen him catch 13. Just hard to do on the spot so his record is only 10. Sorry I tapped down after 6. Don,t usually do that. Just got desperate on an off day. For great spins squeeze body and head tight, don,t spot, keep free foot close to ankle and when you can,t do any more.... do some more. TWIRL STRONG!
Spotting is when you snap your head to the front on every spin like a ballet dancer. Just keep your head still and look up at the baton with your eyes the whole time.
I've never heard of her...is she an NBTA twirler?... I am more familiar with the WBTF and CBTF...she is amazing though and I thank the person who posted this!

really depends on how much you practice. some people are natural spinners and some have to work at it. generally if you can do a 2 spin your first year you re doing well.
The question though, is not really whether you got your two spin, but how well you can do your two spin. And twirlsportjunkie is right, make sure to catch it tons of different ways, that's what gets the hardest. keep practicing, and soon you'll be on your three spin!
Personaly i like Savana Miller better because shes only like 9 and shes like the youngest girl in history to catch her 4 spin! Hey im only like 11 umm are you girls going to twriltacular? i am my schools hosting it this year! yeah my school!
Also to add I saw her twirl side by side to Seishi Inagaki at a clinic in 2001. She was in her mid 30s and after a few kids looking great and STILL her ROLLS were FASTER than Seishi the reigning champion at the time. So what do you want to say about age???!!
personally I've seen my teammate blow out her knee three times and its the worst thing to go through. When annetta has hurt herself that much and is that age I think it would have been wise to retire long ago for the sake of her health.
Chick do you know Annetta? That would be telling a fat guy to stop eating donuts. Shes the most driven twirler (cept I would also argue traci ando) Ive ever known. Its telling a racehorse not to run. The difference tha separates WORLD champions from regular twirlers is they put it all on the line to make it happen.

yes, I know. But I can't practise on turn's at home... I'f you're so clever, can't you teach me...? Or just describe how you does it? After one spin, do you put your foot on the floor, or dont you..? I dont know...
Just make sure you take a good push off at your first spin and make sure to wrap your arms tightly into your body, this makes your body aerodynamic and you can spin faster. don't forget to spot or you'll get dizzy.
i use to watch her when i was younger when i did baton twirling, her and a few others were just mesmerizing to watch twirl. Definately the real deal and something to shoot for as a role model. I never realized until i watched this how much she has been through... being through a lot myself now that i'm an adult and still trying to be a twirler, there is a lot to be grateful for
Annetta and her mother Laari were my baton coaches in the 80's. We practiced in the rain or heat. We
practiced on slabs of concrete, tennis courts, malls and would even sneak into the local high school gym. I was able to do six spins without a toe down. I think that may actually be the limit without having to put a toe down? Annetta taught me a lot about dedication and excellence. I have carried those lessons with me and have passed them on to my children.
She is amazing. I too am a twirler diagnosed with systemic lupus. She really blessed me just watching her overcome all her obstacles, omg. God is Good!

Great spinning! It has been a goal of mine to tie Don's record, but I have only caught a 9..we have it on video I swear I did it...lol! Annetta-I have your rolls video you made. I first saw it a while ago, about when I was 10 and it has helped so much throughout my twirling career. I hope to meet you someday as you are a wonderful role model to twirlers everywhere.

Hi Annetta! What fun to see you still twirling! I came to Fresno in 1983 to stay with Jerry and I trained with you. How you had the energy to leap up and down at the end of your World Freestyle routine to celebrate a no drop is still beyond me! Really great to see you looking so fabulous, and read that you are still passing on your skills and positive attitude to others! Keep up the good work!

Hi. This is Annetta Lucero. I fixed my cross-over for my comeback in the late nineties. Also caught an eleven spin the day after this video was shot. Donald Garcia is the king of spins. Have seen him catch 13. Just hard to do on the spot so his record is only 10. Sorry I tapped down after 6. Don,t usually do that. Just got desperate on an off day. For great spins squeeze body and head tight, don,t spot, keep free foot close to ankle and when you can,t do any more.... do some more. TWIRL STRONG!

Spotting is when you snap your head to the front on every spin like a ballet dancer. Just keep your head still and look up at the baton with your eyes the whole time.

I've never heard of her...is she an NBTA twirler?... I am more familiar with the WBTF and CBTF...she is amazing though and I thank the person who posted this!

really depends on how much you practice. some people are natural spinners and some have to work at it. generally if you can do a 2 spin your first year you re doing well.

The question though, is not really whether you got your two spin, but how well you can do your two spin. And twirlsportjunkie is right, make sure to catch it tons of different ways, that's what gets the hardest. keep practicing, and soon you'll be on your three spin!

Also to add I saw her twirl side by side to Seishi Inagaki at a clinic in 2001. She was in her mid 30s and after a few kids looking great and STILL her ROLLS were FASTER than Seishi the reigning champion at the time. So what do you want to say about age???!!

personally I've seen my teammate blow out her knee three times and its the worst thing to go through. When annetta has hurt herself that much and is that age I think it would have been wise to retire long ago for the sake of her health.

Chick do you know Annetta? That would be telling a fat guy to stop eating donuts. Shes the most driven twirler (cept I would also argue traci ando) Ive ever known. Its telling a racehorse not to run. The difference tha separates WORLD champions from regular twirlers is they put it all on the line to make it happen.

Still twirling but not traditionally. Have been elite cirque artist for years. Do corporate events twirling, hand balancing, aerial work. Thanks for positivity. TWIRLSTRONG!

WOW, my best ever was a 6 spin and that was only once!!! Hats off to you. By the way, after the age of 40, give it up!!! I just pulled a ham string doing an illusion, 3 weeks later I'm still in pain! LOL

You should be able to pull off a 3 or 4 turn without pushing off.

u been doing it for 5 years and only a 1 u need to practice more and get a bbetter teacher or JUST PRACTICE im 12 and i can almsot do a 2 spin but only been doing it for 2 years and going on 3rd this season started already

Just make sure you take a good push off at your first spin and make sure to wrap your arms tightly into your body, this makes your body aerodynamic and you can spin faster. don't forget to spot or you'll get dizzy.

i use to watch her when i was younger when i did baton twirling, her and a few others were just mesmerizing to watch twirl. Definately the real deal and something to shoot for as a role model. I never realized until i watched this how much she has been through... being through a lot myself now that i'm an adult and still trying to be a twirler, there is a lot to be grateful for

at the time that is how spins were done. After Anettas time competing did the international technique standard change to no crossover.

Annetta and her mother Laari were my baton coaches in the 80's. We practiced in the rain or heat. We
practiced on slabs of concrete, tennis courts, malls and would even sneak into the local high school gym. I was able to do six spins without a toe down. I think that may actually be the limit without having to put a toe down? Annetta taught me a lot about dedication and excellence. I have carried those lessons with me and have passed them on to my children.
