  • I used to listen to BDP, Public Enemy, NWA and Eric B & Rakim a bunch when I was in high school. Rap has been on a steady decline since The Chronic. Everything since then has been mindless recycled regurgitated pablum and people continue to eat up by the spoonful.

  • @hortonheat1 ok......go fuck yourself!

  • He's the first, .As far i'm concerned. Sometimes it's better not to blow up because the music stay's pure. Not be hounded by the Record Co. suits to come up with some bullshit like you hear on the radio today.

    FRESH FOR 88' YOU SUCKAS!!!

  • HipHop.......BDP...RIP...Scott La Rock.....

  • That's the JEEP dj Scott La Rock was killed in.

    RIP SCOTT LA ROCK!

  • Does anyone think he was taking shots at RUN-DMC. "some mc's be talkin and talkin/ tryin to show how black people are walking/but i dont walk this way" then he goes on to say "who gets weaker the king or the teacher"

  • @njsimmon I never ever thought of that. It seems like you're absolutely right

  • he definitely was. at the time, Run DMC had lost quite a bit of NY street cred because of their associations with Jews (Beasties, Rubin) and white people. Sad, really, but KRS would go on to almost kill his career with such lopsided notions.

  • Your right! every thing that black people create or produced seems to magically over time is controlled by Jews. As black people were expected to be universal while every others group of people make money from our minds and the production that comes from it. If we decided to keep to ourselves and do for ourselves which means total black ownership of our creation were labelled black radical communist seperatist and etc. Its all a ploy to keep us asleep.

  • player krs1 rakim top 3 run dmc was what hip hop needed at time to get mcs bigger deals

  • I dont think he was. Run DMC had the game on lock in they days they pased the mike so there would be a KRS1 & Scott La Rock. I think people looked up to DMC back then.

  • @MrSuccess17 DMC was my favorite. !!!

  • no, this is 88

run dmcv album sucked after 86

  • @njsimmon KRS-ONE has on more than one occasion said that he had it in for Def Jam back then, but in the same sentence gives the label its props for basically funding hip hop...so yes he was going at Run-DMC and also LL Cool J, "others say they're BAD but they're bugging"...KRS-ONE supposedly had a version of the song "Outta Here" where he lets all the whole Def Jam have it. But that vesion never made it off the cuting room floor.

  • @njsimmon yes, Krs was very anti-hip pop, look at the lil battle he had with Nelly

  • even the bboys ..."RIGHT UP TO YOUR FACE AND DIS YOU"

  • WOW this is what is all about

  • classic hip hop

  • legend!!

  • top 5 best rap video ever made

  • ACTIVE MEMBER

    LOW BAP FOUNDATION

  • KRS-One is one of the best, if not THE best MC in rap history. Even if you listen to the other rap bands of the time, BDP was by far the most innovative, progressive, and positive Hip Hop. Even now his rhymes are tight, well put together, and meaningfull.

  • this amazing track is much b4 my time cus i was born in 96' but DAMM i love KRS , he's real hip hop I HATE LIL WAYNE

  • @StupidFatPeopleTV lil wayne rules tho, he is a very good rapper :/

  • @StupidFatPeopleTV Good to hear there's still young people out there who listen to real hip hop. These are the real masters. Hip hop nowadays ain't hip hop it's crap

  • @StupidFatPeopleTV even though you are young you have good ears

  • @StupidFatPeopleTV You missed the best of rap & hip hop Everybody anymore is just horseshit

  • it is pathetic and ridiculous that this video does not have 30,000,000 views. i think the dark ages of hip hop are finally in full effect and probably have been for a few yrs now.

  • Better times will come,be sure,comrade...

    Peace!!

  • that's 100 % right damn

  • its ok

  • whatever happened to this type of hip-hop

the REAL essence of life. this video is one of the greatest of all time. it captured the real life of hip-hop.

  • alot of suckas with colorful names im so & so , im this , im that , but they all just wick wick wack """" 88 suckas

  • One of the top 3 MCS of all time. I spent a while in Europe back in 89 and rocked this tape to death.

  • Man, this brings back memories. This is back when hip-hop actually meant something and had stuff to say that was worth listening to.

  • @hanscarter indeed

  • Is this the entire thing? Seemed like an abrupt ending.

  • It cut out, its said "Fresh for 88 u suckers" something like that. =)

  • @duhtube08 yeah fresh for 88

  • @duhtube08 - No I think it was 'Fresh for two thousand eight...you suckas, suckas, suckas....' ;))

  • Man....this is my FAVORITE old school jam

  • Once, just once I'd like to watch a video and not see people arguing on the comments.

  • If you would just listen to the lyrics in this song...it seems like he could be talking about the industry today!!! THIS DUDE WAS AHEAD OF HIS TIME!!!

  • Used to love this shit...now I think he's mental with all his 9/11 bollox...shame! Rich and poor people died u dick!

  • yea...he was cool before i realized what a racist bigot piece of shit he was...and just plain stupid nowadays. He thinks 9/11 was an inside job HAHAHA...fucking typical isnt it? Just another example of how had we not had slaves, we wouldnt had to deal with all these ignorant mongrels.

  • grow up .

  • wahhhh...get over it and move on. Youre living in the past and thats the reason why youre the highest population in jail, highest murder rate, highest teen and unwed pregnancy etc..and only 15% of the population. On top of that, its 95% black on black crime. Killing each other instead of helping...SMART GUY.

Its been time to quit crying about the past.

There are TONS that have been through way worse (especially here from other countries) and lead productive lives.

  • oh yea...and WTF have you endured? NOTHING compared to your parents and grandparents. Do them proud and do something with your life instead of bitching about stuff you NEVER endured. Your generation is helping to make those of us that HAD compassion and helped, not give a shit anymore.

And kid, I have listened and been a part of this scene since before you were born, I can promise you. Im one of the old schoolers that helped make this music what it has become, regretfully now.

  • carolinainfidel,I thought you said, you helped make hip-hop what it is."Behave your still a 20th century slave, heading for the grave in a wave!" Wake up brother we walk the lines of scripture,The lord wrote this one,and not your idol(Fake God)who ever it may be....Find the Truth and then,do what I said the first time..Listen!

  • obscure huh? Is that Hebrew for "stupid and illiterate"? Must be. Like I said kid...move on and quit wasting your time trying to convince me and others with your babble. You sound like a cultist and have no grasp on reality, so get back to blowing rastakid87 and step off. Youre a moron.

  • Enough has spoken to you lost one,but here's what you do:The day of The lord is Near, and not your idol(fake god)the truth is coming to correct the wrongs, and Hebrews Is the Creator. You Don't know of Abraham and His Son,The Holy One Of Isreal! • i saw him live. was fecking great. i would say he has some of the most strongest lyrics in hip hop history

  • You have a philosophy?

  • ya know I get so tired of hearing about who is the greatest emcee in history, sorry but no one stands a chance against KRS-ONE or Rakim.

  • "...hear it first-hand from an intelligent brown man
