I was considering triple booting my system with Mint KDE with my already installed Windows 7 Professional x64 and XP Professional x64 but Linux pissed me off with lack of motherboard support and couldn't even find my OS disk in the installer! Im a Pro with Windows and have been for at least 10 years but come Linux im a 'noob' but Linux SUCKS for new users. No driver support for anything and I couldn't even get it to install. I will stick with Windows physically thank you! Works in VM's though!
My favourite Linux moment: When I was visiting my parents, they had this 5 year old laptop which was shutting down every 30 minutes because the CPU had reached 99 degrees celsus. So I installed puppy Linux on it, tweaked the CPU speed and got it working at about 44 degrees. The laptop is now sitting on a chair next to my main Desktop pc. :-)

First it was Amiga and "enemy" was Atari then PC until i finally had to give up and get PC but event then i did rather run OS/2 or PC-DOS than MSDOS and Windows. Was big fan of Turbo Pascal cursed Borland to the deepest bit of hell not releasing 32bit version. Gave up again and learned C (Watcom) . Then slowly moved to Linux and now for maybe 15? years i have stayed. Thanks to all involved!
About 2001 I was doing tech support for a big ISP in Canada. An 80 year old grandmother called in and said she was sick of Windows, did I know anything about Linux and could I help her set up her pppoe connection? We had Roaring Penguin pppoe installed and running in minutes.
i bought bought my dell dimension 3100 at a pawnshop for 89 dollars and saw it had windows xp and ubuntu 9.10 dual boot i tried out ubuntu and then after that i downloaded ubuntu 11.04 on it and i'm not going back to windows
My first Linux experience was with Redhat 5. And it took me a whole day just to install and make the GUI worked on my ancient monitor. But its worth it! The reason for installing Linux was to using GCC, gnuplot and LaTeX for undergraduate thesis project.
My favorite Linux Memory is when I first installed Linux without knowing what it was(It came as additional Disks with my HP Computer). It was called Mandrake 9. After installing and using GUI for some time I accidentally switched to a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + F1). After one day fighting with the terminal (typing what ever I could, without any help), I reinstalled it to get the GUI and changed the wallpaper using the image I copied from windows in a floppy.
My favorite Linux Memory is when I tried my first live CD. It was dyne:bolic and I tried it on my PII machine. This PC was unable to reproduce movies without a serious amount of dropped frames on Window$, but dyne:bolic had no problem handling them. They played as if it was a PIV or PIII. Since then, I installed Debian and never looked back :)
The first time I watched porn on OpenSUSE, I didn't turn down the volume of the internal speaker since I was used to Windows just putting sound out the earphones and not the speakers. And there were porn noises heard throughout the house.
I started with Ubuntu in 2006 and have used it full time ever since. Moved through Gentoo and openSUSE before finally coming back to Ubuntu with 11.04 :) Happy birthday, Linux! :D
I was in the 8th or 9th grade back in the mid 90's and I stole a copy of O'Reilly's Linux Administration from a book store near my school. It had Red Hat 2.0 on floppy in the jacket and I had to pull down the rest (boot img and network img for those who remember those days lol, considering FC16 is on its way, i feel old lol) , I then discovered Slack, hacking linux, and the rest of the Linux world...Today I'm a Senior Linux Admin for a huge international company... I don't regret a thing.=)
I wonder how many Android users are aware it's a Linux OS. I bet there are many, not everyone, but many users that just think it's Google proprietary and don't really think about it. Although I'm not a fan of cloud computing, and until I'm much more knowledgeable on how to transmit and store data on my own hardware I won't be doing much in that arena, I have to agree that Android is a huge breakthrough for Linux and it sure puts IOS to shame | Can U tell I'm a PC not an Apple guy... :^P
