Pavarotti non si discute, si ama soltanto ma non può dire che in questo video Alagna non sia bravissimo sia nel canto che nella recitazione. Ci sono dei ruoli in cui Alagna eccelle (come nella versione cinematografica di Tosca) e dimostra grandi qualità di attore nonchè di cantante. Ciò che scrive è offensivo sia per l'artista che per noi che lo amiamo.

You are partly correct. He has just found out his wife has been unfaithful, but right before a performance in a play. In this aria, he's saying that "the show must go on," even though he is going to be playing a character with the exact opposite disposition.

@piratchick97 Pavarotti had more natural depth to his sound and is, in my opinion, more vocally expressive with a more natural sound. This is definitely a fantastic rendition but I have to give it slightly to the Pav. :)

Io trovo molto meglio lui di Pavarotti....Alagna mostra lo strazio ed il dolore che prova il suo personaggio...dall'inizio alla fine.Modula le parole così che il pubblico possa comprenderle ed entrare ancora più in empatia con la tragicità del momento.Pavarotti(nulla da togliere alla sua bravura) è una maschera immobile fin quasi alla fine,dove inizia a recitare in maniera troppo improvvisa,esagerando,e le parole si fa fatica a comprenderle.

Alagna è molto bravo ma sicuramente non è Pavarotti.

Se ci fai caso ha la A troppo aperta e personalmente esagera nell'interpretazione.

Pavarotti è tutta un altra cosa che pur non estremizzando così dà un emozione immensa solo nel solo suono delle parole e poi anche tecnicamente è il numero 1.

I get chills every time I hear this version. It's as if this aria was written for him. I've heard so many different versions by so many famous names, Pavarotti, Domingo, Rodrigo, Carreras, Atlantov, Bjorling, Stefano, Gigli. and much more. All are great singers and performed this aria beautifully, but have no comparison to this. I have watched this video at least twenty times, and his singing and acting still give me chills! Bravo, bravo, Roberto! Bel canto, bel canto!

Bravo! I wish I could see the rest of the opera, but this Alagna brings the aria every element of dramatism as it hasn't been seen before. I disagree that he's singing "sulla 'carne' e difficulta." Kingcorelli is still unhappy at Alagna's behavior at La Scala, I'm too, ma quest´é una interpretazione verista and it merits recognition and admiration. This is not Bel Canto, so interpretative licenses can be taken, otherwise it´ll be boring.

Ho molto rispetto per Alagna ma e fuori repertorio, mi ricorda un po l'interpretazione di Di Stefano. Si sente nel pasaggio che alarga la vocale 'A' che nella sua natura dovrebe cantarla chiara piu puntata. Andando con il tempo puo portare cantando sulla 'carne' nelli acuti e difficulta. Per riquardo La Scala non accetto un grande artista si meridarsi certo comportimento del publico, che erra una questione di interpretazione, non a steccato.
