some of u guys r right timing chains can stretch, but 8in sorry that thing would have snaped after 2in metal can only stretch so far before it cracks and snaps.
theres something called timing chain guides and tensioners...guides wear out when they wear the tensioners extend until they cant anymore causing excessive slack in the chain.....seriously have some knowledge on the stuff before you get all cocky.
thats normal. once the cams turn it will straighten out. you have a tensioner for a reason! i thought it was weird too when i first rebuilt my cylinder head. right now im doing the bitch again because i fucked up the head bolts. god damn it, can't get the chain back on. it was so easy last time....anyone have any clues on what the best way to get it over the sprockets without taking the side cover off??? oh and its possible because i did it last time, just can't figure out what i did....
The chain was stretched about an 1/8th of an inch. I replaced the chain and tensioner. Problem solved. Car runs fine now as you will see in my other videos.

if the tensioner is powered by oil pressure, its not going to work if the engine if off......

@kariemariann
Bullshit it did, fuck that. It physically CANNOT stretch that much, it'd snap. Unless it's fucking elastic. Jesus christ.

@LIP15 Yeah that guys must have his units mixed up. 8 inch play is simply not possible.

@Hapsmash he's talking about a dirtbike....its possible, but best believe the chain will be streched and the sprocket will be worn down sooo fast

Wow can't believe all the ppl saying thats normal. it doesn't surprise me when you say the chain was streched about an 1/8th inch.
I hoping thats not the noise mine is making alot of work and I don't got the money for a chain these days.

yeah even though you fixed it griplimit is right.
they're hydraulic tensioners, so unless you make oil pressure with the car off yeah... they can sag like that...

thats normal, when the engine is running that slack goes away, you may just need to get a new chain tensioner
