  • Jeb Hensarling is a Timothy McVeigh waiting to happen.

  • eagles, you should just kill your self because you are stupid enough to forget breathing

  • I see on here alott of people blaming Bush , Who are we blaming now still bush I guess he is the one still putting us in this mess we are in now wake up people....

  • its funny cuz Bush bankrupted every company he started up.. apparently he wasnt that good with the numbers so he left the business world to join his father in politics. and you guys are right, its not any one party of persons fault that we are in this mess. its all of our fault, including the American people who stood by and watched this downfall take place. after every war, this type of economy happens. we just had two wars, so this is expected

  • Anyone that tells you it's one group of people's fault is a liar. As in all aspects of life, most big mess ups are due to multiple things going wrong. That's how they get so bad.

  • I really wish you would all stop with this Left/Right, Democrat/Republican, Liberal/Conservative bullshit. The time has come for us to grow up and realize that the "two-party system" is a lie. Neither the Democrats or Republicans are in charge of economic policy, those decisions are made over the head of even the President, who by the way is nothing more than a puppet. All they do in D.C. is put on a show so it looks like we don't live in a fascist state.

  • Bush Destroyed the US

  • Thank God Pelosi and the Dems at *least* blocked privatizing Social Security by keeping it away from the equities market.. Can you only imagine if Hensarling and his fellow Republicans had their way on that ..

  • If everyone knows democratic congress opposed regulation of Fannie and Freddie then you shouldn't mind giving us a specific example?

Also, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae didn't cause the economic recession. It was made possible by GLB, CFMA, and the SEC lowering the fractional reserve rate. Freddie and Fannie are just the ones the right-wingers like to blame because they used to be government organizations, almost 40 years ago.

  • try the 17 or so times the bush administration tried to get regulation starting in 2003 and the democrats, led by barney frank stonewalled them every time, claiming both fanny and freddy were fine. God knows if they could have found a single republican to blame, the hearings and special councils would go on for years.

  • Please give a specific example of what you're talking about.

  • You know I thought it was the decisions made by the president that cost so much to America - like two endless, unpopular wars sucking hundreds of billions out the economy year on year and tax-cuts for the wealthy cutting off ready cash supply.

It's like sawing off the limb on which you are perched, and still trying to pick fruit.

The Dems inherited the job of doing this, until the executive's power expired this year.

  • Tough to defend the dems on this issue.

Anyone who knows anything at all knows that Bush caved in to liberal demands and if effect became a liberal himself. Liberals got what they wanted from Bush, and from the Lending Institutions that were making it possible, in true weak-wristed, light in their loafers, Barney Frank style STEAL FROM THE PEOPLE while pointing at all the good he was doing for poor people. This is what brought down the economy folks.

  • an attempt to rewrite history...indeed!

the last time since Jan 2007, the Democratic congress has

the economy tanked on "their watch"

not the presidente of the U S of A.

    chart 13, 11th please....

liar, liar, fork tongue mouth on fire.

  • 2004 "Mr Chairmen, we do not have a problem at Freddie mac and certainly not Fannie mae; under the excellent supervision or Mr Franklin Raines" Maxine Waters Democrat after being warned by Republicans trying to regulate the industry of loaning people money for homes, NOT based on an ability to pay it back but based on the Ideology that "everyone should own a home".... You can see right here on YT.

  • 54% of the entire budget goes to fund the con's worthless trumped up wars in the Middle East.

Believe me, the fucking cons put us in this hole and now it's again up to the Democrats to clean up their looting of the treasury.

  • Democrats created teh mess with their alteration of the CRA act.

Watch BURNING DOWN THE HOUSE to see the truth.

  • Repeating the same tired platitudes does not make them true. Why don't you try thinking for yourself and not re-puking the idiocy you listen to on am radio.

  • I guess i could tell you and the rest of the democrats the same thing.

    See how that works?

  • Once again the democrats are coming to the rescue. Oh no. FDR The new deal. Johnson The Great Society. Jimma Wear your sweater Carter.

We are totally sunk. The democrats, the liberals will sink us for sure.

  • Oh, and about Obama and the so-called "bankrupting stimulus bill" tearing the country apart... hmm, then what is this I'm hearing about a shit load of company's stocks going UP the past 2 days and Olympia Snowe, who is a REPUBLICAN senator, saying that the Stimulus Bill is already creating jobs and averting job loss? Hmm?

This is more than we ever got out of either of Bush's 2 terms, he's produced nothing but deficits since he came in.

  • Bush went throught two wars, enron, and katrina and he will still have a third the debt Obama is leaving BY HIS OWN ADMISSIONS.

To compare the two is wrong.

  • The problem didn't start in the last year or two. In fact, it began at least as early at 1913 with the Federal Reserve Act.

  • Everyone should have a republican as a pet. Once they're fully house trained, they do a great job of fetching the newspaper and chasing their tails.(every republican has one)

  • its funny because the first thing he said was that the democrats are "playing the blame game", but then he goes and blames the democrats. lulz he is a loser.

  • Glad you caught that, too!

  • Like a bunch of stupid kids. THEY ARE ALL AT FAULT. THEY ALL (REPS; DEMS) PLAYED THE GAME. Instead of covering their arrogant assess, they should do something about fixing the problems.

  • so when something goes wrong its always the democrats fault just because your on the other side? wow this guys lacks a lot of credibility

  • It is everyone's fault. But this man is right. The Dem's are the main protagonists. The Republican's however did nothing to stop it. So it is everyone's fault. Don't blame total miss-management on one individual. The president should never have the power that Bush did. Congress is supposed to intervene. All these conspiracy theories about an elite ruling banking class are beginning to make more sense than the reality.

  • Just another stoned, pedophilic, closet-gay, self hating RETARDICAN!!!

  • Seems right on target.

  • Except it was lack of regulation in the banking industry that caused the problem. I'll let you figure out which side is all about deregulation.

  • Obama increasing the national debt to unsustainable levels is his own doing. Bankrupting the nation is what the dems congress is all about, in order to level the playing field for the New World Order, replacing democracy with socialized marxism. Obama is a liar to the max and must be stopped.

  • This man is nucking futs...

Our defict was 8.2 trillion in Jan 2007 when Dems took it over. In two years it went up to 11.1 trillon, still about 2.5 trillion less each year, then under the Bush years of control...

When Bush got in office, he had a huge surplus. The main reason for the deficit is war in TWO theaters...

  • Boldernow - we shouldn't be running any surplus since that is over-taxation. Last fiscal year, the deficit was $459 billion. For this fiscal year, it was $569 billion when Obama took office. Now he wants to ADD another $1.276 Trillion to the deficit this year, for a total of $1.845 Trillion. Obama wants to add $9.3 trillion to the national debt, doubling it in six years and nearly tripling it in 10 years, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). How can that be "save and invest"?

  • Youre a neo-con spam account, I know you from MANY other clips. You do not cite your figures, sources, or facts. You also spend 100% of your posts attacking, lying, & attempting to create division. You're simply not capable of thoughtful exchange...

What Obama is doing is "reinvesting" in Americans & America itself instead of Supply-Side. You don't like Keynesian economics, I do. But since you had the last 8 years for Supply-Side to work, it didn't royally screwing up our country, STFU

  • What an idiot this guy is. Sadly, there are those who will believe him just because they saw him on TV. This was a BushCo favorite tactic-repeat the lie as often as possible and some people will start to believe it. Did you hear the one that FDR caused the Great Depression? Even though he wasn't in office for 4 years? Way to go repugnancans! More distraction and less solutions...What the hell happened to the repub party? When did it become the party of no ideas?

  • He is correct, of course.

Democrats will not admit their dirty deeds, or, they aren't smart enough to know they are committing them. Either way, we are truly screwed.

After Obama is assassinated, the wheel will just keep on turning. It has momentum now, it has legs. Goodbye America.

  • How is he correct? You're going to argue that the Democrates are responsible for the lack of regulation in the banking industry?

  • Well he does have a point...

  • what point is that...it's OK for these tools to quadruple the deficit in the first two months of Obama's admin...and execute powers never enacted..nor constitutional in the history of country...say what you will about Bush...but if my memory serves me...he only signed what put on his desk..and things were running along until the dems took control of the budget process...just sayin...the dems are out to set if not destroy this country in record time...

  • Then he ran the Iraq War on what is termed a Supplemental Budget, which is not included in his budgets that were presented to the American people or to the Congress. This is where the deficit came from. The Democratic Congress attempted to return the PAYGO policy in Jan. 2007 and Bush vetoed it.

  • The federal surplus shrank from $236.2 billion in 2000 to $128.2 billion in 2001, then a $157.8 billion deficit in 2002. The deficit increased to $377.6 in 2003 and $412.7 billion in 2004. The federal deficit excluding trust funds was $537.3 billion in FY2006. In the first 6 years of President Bush's term, with a Republican controlled Congress, the federal debt increased by $3 trillion. Talk about spending like a drunken sailor!

  • Dude theirs a huge differance between Government and a Drunken sailor. When the drunken sailor runs out of money he is done spending. He goes back to his ship , sobbers up and is broke until the next payday. Government on the other hand just keeps on spending, taxing and in our case printing money. I think I would rather have a drunken sailor running this place right about now.

  • Yes, you are correct "THERE'S" a huge "DIFFERENCE"...... Do you not have "spell-check" or do you not know how to use it?

  • there isn't spell check on youtube douche bag

  • Oh that's right, YouTube doesn't have spell check...I just don't need it because I know how to spell....and, obviously, he doesn't....How about you? Maybe you use obscenities and name calling to overcome your profound sense of shame at your inability to produce a cognizant reply? Troglodyte.

  • If I'm ever writing a term paper for some uptight professor than I shall remember to give a rats ass about the spelling.

  • mssedmebich

Having once been a drunken sailor, I resemble that remark. Please add me to your list of names sharing your sentiment.

  • G.W. then began lowering taxes (to impress the business owners and higher income folks who put him in office) and implementing new programs, such as Medicare D, with no way to pay for them. With the gutting, then abandonment, of PAYGO, budget deficits returned.

  • The original PAYGO legislation was part of the bipartisan 1990 budget agreement between President George H.W. Bush and the Democratic Congress. It was subsequently extended in 1993 and 1997 by the Clinton administration, but was waived in 2001 and then allowed to expire in 2002 by President George W. Bush and the Republican Congress.

  • When it comes to the deficit, it was GWs policies that got us here. There is no doubt about that. His father had a program in place called pay-as-you-go, meaning, simply, that if you want to put a new program to work, you must find a way to pay for it through increased taxes or cutting another program. Very simple. But he increased taxes after the famous Read my lips campaign promise, so therefore, was not re-elected.

  • If you're not part of the solution , you might be a republican congressperson from texas .

  • everyone is still pointing fingers and Obama is the only one trying to do something about it, too bad there aren't enough people who truly want to help

  • The blame game, false left-right paradigm as always. There is only one party in control in this country. The OWNERS PARTY run by the privately owned international central banking cartel, the Federal Reserve,City of London, the IMF, and the Bank for International Settlements Switzerland. Youtube "mikemontagne" and watch all 20 vids in order to get the skinny on the Usury system. Also youtube "ByronDaleChannel"

    .

  • Wait, is he conveniently forgetting that every appropriations and spending bill that didn't have Bush's and the Republicans' stamp of approval would be vetoed and not able to be overridden? Doesn't he remember that every time the Democrats opposed a war spending bill that the Republicans themselves lambasted them them as not supporting the troops? Is this man so stupid as to not to realize that the current crisis has struck a death knell for the Reagan culture of deregulation and corporate FFA?

  • And you don't think the exact same thing wont happen again? Name the last successful and productive thing the government did...

Republicans and Democrats are the same. The government will continue to grow and just make everything even more worse.

As for 'deregulation', would Bernie Maddoff have succeed for as long as he did without the support of the SEC? Investors would have done their own due diligence instead of trusting the SEC. Thats just one example of how gov't interference hurts.

  • If a regulatory overhaul takes place that addresses all of the roots of the crisis and real oversight is established, then yes a crisis of this type and magnitude should be prevented, just as no other Great Depression has occurred since the formation of the FDIC and other entities intended to address the roots of that crisis. What about the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and every other voting and civil liberties themed piece of legislation enacted by the government, along with policies that enhanced

  • ...and facilitated economic and social growth that have taken place throughout history? While both parties do in fact support bigger government, there is a pronounced difference in the focus of government spending, which can be seen in comparing the domestic spending priorities of Bush and Obama. The SEC should have have caught Madoff and I believe it needs to be modified as well, but investors did not seem to display the ability to regulate themselves at all in the lead up to the current crisis

  • Comment removed

  • The only thing congress could do in those last 2 years is stop the republicans from putting through every bill they wanted. Bush didn't veto a bill till 2006. So fuck off.

  • basically the truth is the exact opposite to anything a republican says

  • yup the economy tanked on the dems watch. and 911 happened when clinton was in charge.

same thing with deficits. Clinton did not leave a surplus.

day is night black is white up is down and we can control reality with words. look I am Hairy Potter

in my hand I am holding my magic wand.

  • Word brother. frickenfracken republicans are so delusional. The republicans are trying every thing they got to try to recover from the fact that Bush was the worst president we ever had. I wonder how the 1+trillion dollar tax cut for the wealthy in this country helped things. or the .8 trillion tax refund helped this country. That's 2 trillion dollars before the war, and without any other massive spending his administration did on his watch. ERRRR

  • Let's kick Texas out of the United States. Any decent Americans will move to another state. We'll leave the rednecks to form their own country, and then we'll all laugh our asses off when they are invaded and overrun by the Mexicans. After that, we should do the same for the other Southern states, with the possible exception of Florida. Once we are free from the ass-backwards South, we will no longer fall behind Japan and Europe in terms of education and technology.

  • ooohhh this is so funny!

  • i would also ask mr hensarling to read the bill of rights - you know those first 10 amendments and ask how many of them he thinks were broken during the 1st 6 years of the bush era, you know since he wants to talk about the constitution and all

  • unfortunately he is the representative from my district *sigh* cant stand the guy, and for all those people who say congress was controlled by the democrats the last2 years of the bush era i say this: they (democrats) could have gone with the current republican strategy of just trying to block everything - and they could have actually succeeded because the really did have the majority but they didnt becasue they knew that they had an obligation to actually get stuff done

  • What a DICK!

  • We have a constitution?

  • What's a constitution?

  • I think it means dropping deuce, either that or going for a walk.

  • these guys are not serious about their job, they waste all this time trying to distort the past and put the blame on the other team. A bunch of hypocrites.

  • Why must Texas inflict their elected officials on the rest of the country? :(

  • Wow Jeb, you might wanna rethink tactics here. No coat tails or redistricting to make it happen this time for you or Sessions in 2010. I know a sweetheart deal got you in, but you might wanna think about the constituents now.

  • He's right insofar as Democrats in Congress went along with Bush's destructive fiscal policies, but it was the Bush administration that tied so much of that increased spending to "national security" in an attempt to make it political suicide to oppose it.

So no one's hands are clean. Bush lied and Congress was cowardly.

  • The increase in spending, in and of itself, wouldn't have caused the economy to implode if not for the massive tax cuts in combination with massive borrowing, and the dismantling of banking and investment safety regulations, which started in 1999-2000.

  • This idiot thinks that the economy tanked in two years? Let talk about rewriting history! It has taken 30 years of stripping away laws put in place after the great depression that has put us here! Supply side economics is in the the words of George H Bush VOODOO economics!!!

  • Hensarling: "Alright, I'm going to blame the Democrats for wrecking the economy by citing Article 1 Section 9 of the Constitution."

Kryten: "Article 1 Section 9? 'No title of nobility shall be granted by the United States?' Is that really RELEVANT, sir? I mean, here we are about to go broke and YOU'RE worried about us all being KNIGHTED by the Sultan of Brunai!?"

Hensarling: "Oh Kryten, can't you let even ONE go by?!"

  • where is no need for more word.

  • So he is saying that the fake economy generated by the housing bubble was a good thing and should have continued forever? OK

  • Sad to see how deep the GOP is now...

Their heads are stuck so deep in their asses they are not going to see the light soon...

  • so because WWII started when FDR was president then it was his fault, right.... republican fail at blame game.

  • Laughable, If it was so democratically controlled they wouldn't of had any excuses they would of had to impeach Bush.

  • Article 2, Section 2, the President shall be the Commander in Chief. So is this congressman going to go ahead and admit that the Republican president Bush, who was in power on Sept 11, 2001 was then fully responsible for 9/11 because it happened on his watch? Seems like if you can blame Clinton for his inaction to deal with terrorism for 9/11 then it should be reasonable to blame republicans for their inaction while they were in power for the economy today.

  • We are witnessing the death of the Republican party, and it is a suicide.

  • Let's just give the republicans the south, let them run it how they want, and show them how fucking dumb and impractical they really are. They can do a bunch of idiotic shit, and their population can complain about how they can't trust anyone.

Meanwhile back in the USA we'll be building, learning, and growing into a true 21st century nation, and cooperating with each other.

Then we can call them dirty illegal immigrants and shoot at them when they try to sneak back in. Poetic Justice.

  • Well said! Goddamm! I'm all for that plan!

  • You are a prophet. Well stated!

  • If this guy wants to play the "blame game" he needs to understand that 9/11 happened on the Republicans' watch (both in the Congress and the White House).

  • At last the truth;)

  • fucking democrats!!!

  • He accuses the Dems of playing the blame game, and then he does the same. Well that's a great argument ya moron.

  • ugh,... loser

  • I blame the Federal Reserve and the American Treasury. They are the ones who are in control of the money supply. Not the Democrats and Republicans.

  • Well even if we're trading gold nuggets hand to hand, unethical assholes in this business world will find a way to legally steal it.

  • Hahaha republican filibustering assholes still claim that Dems had free reign under Bush. Yeah, all those huge progressive bills that were passed. Can't even count them on two hands. Dems just passed whatever they wanted.

  • The only republicans left are almost all from the south.

    That says something.

  • Who is this guy trying to kid???

  • this dude is right, it's not all Bush or Obama's fault but that of the congress, both republicans and democrats. those of you arguing one side over the other make manifest your ignorance. It's beyond partisan lines, this rot goes to the core fo your government regardless of who is in charge.

  • LesionOfLie-oN: "this dude is right...those of you arguing one side over the other make manifest your ignorance"

Except that in this clip Rep Hensarling is plainly leveling blame for all of the economic problems on the Democrats. He is clearly NOT giving a pass to President Obama; remember, Obama was in the Senate during the time that Hensarling claims the Dems caused the current economic doldrums.

You are cynically promoting ignorance by not admitting that Repub deregulation led us here.

  • Exactly. Great comment whatISrelevant. I want to see more of that on youtube.

We need to quit giving cynics a free pass on here, just because they imply you're gullible if you check them on it.

    THAT IS what is relevant.

  • Wow. Thank you so much.

  • YES! It's cynicism that is the rot in this country. America has always been about optimism; hope for the future has always been our national pride.

But the Ron Paul 'revolutionaries' seem hell-bent on running down the dollar, running down President Obama, and running down every hard-won achievement of the working class and middle class. I am skeptical about their true allegiances. But no matter really; they are factionalised and neutralised, and the Dems are still the best brand standing.

  • your right, the Ron Paul "revolutionaries' are the ones running down the dollar, not the Federal Reserve who just injected a trillion dollars into the system.Oh yeah, and they got that trillion out of thin air.I think the Ron Paul "revolutionaries' bash Obama because he promised to end the Iraq war his first day on the job, instead he plans on staying in Iraq indefinently .Dont play dumb, how is America being the greatest debtor nation in history ever going to pay back 10s of trillion dollars?

  • Simple. The dollar is going to be replaced. Watch it happen.

  • i agree, did hear about China calling for a global currency a couple days ago?

  • Ok, Dogg: "Obama...he promised to end the Iraq war his first day on the job"

You are mistaken oir are deliberately misleading. Then-Senator Obama made no such promise to end the war in Iraq on day one of his Presidency. In point of fact, he said REPEATEDLY that his plan would be a "responsible withdrawal" from Iraq and an increase in troop levels in Afghanistan.

  • "I intend to end this war. My first day in office. I will bring the Joint Chiefs of Staff in, and I will give them a new mission, and that is to end this war responsibly and deliberately, but decisively. To quote Obama from July 10th 2008.

  • What is your source? Where are you finding this quote?

  • Ok, Dogg: "Obama...he promised to end the Iraq war...first day on the job"

In point of fact, Then-Senator Obama said REPEATEDLY that his plan would be a "responsible withdrawal" from Iraq and an increase in troop levels in Afghanistan. That was what? Two years ago? What was responsible then is responsible now: Responding and reacting to the current facts on the ground. This is the nature of reality in a dynamic, changing, (i know, redundnant) world.

Please, CITE the source of your quote.

  • i dont know, maybe the economy deserves a little bit of attention at the moment

  • @ kdogg1000

You can't put quotation marks around a sentence, add a date, and then call that proof that President Obama said something. It only proves that YOU'VE said something. If you can't cite you source, then your claim is not proved.

I ordinarily wouldn't care, but I would like to bury this canard, if not for everyone, then at least with you so that you won't go around continuing to infect peoples' minds with your bogus claim.

But I suspect the truth doesn't really matter to you.

  • the deregulators exist on both sides. Industry isn't stupid it pays to lobby and prop up both dems and repubs. Either way they get their way, and people like you blame one side not recognizing the root of the problem. You say I promote ignorance yet I never promoted your flawed thinking.

  • God, I'm so tired of hearing this.

We keep making the same mistake because we DON'T think there is a difference, not because we think there is one.

Clinton: No wars, no recession, CUT THE DEFICIT, created a SURPLUS in the budget.

Bush: Started 2 unnecessary wars, spent billions on both, neglected simple upkeep of our infrastructure, turned our national image to shit, and left us with the biggest recession ever.

I think there's a little bit of a fucking difference!

  • but you forget the republicans controlled bot houses and thus the purse strings. so they get their share of the credit also.

  • Clinton's deficit work was primarily lead by repblicans who have since turned their backs on their principles. Bush was a screw up, but the seeds for many of the problems your country faces lie at both parties for various reasons. Only a fool picks a side without knowing what the two sides battle over and if its worth it. I'm not at all surprised by how stupid americans are. you voted bush in and now obama, you reap what you sow. You Yankees deserve it.

  • Look buddy, republicans are about "free right to operate your business" They dont think government should tell them ANYTHING about how to run their business.

And the Bush Admin believed in that shit. So they pretty much gave people a pass to make money however the hell they felt like, and so not just mortgage companies, but companies everywhere started saying bullshit like "No credit? bad credit? NO PROBLEM!"

And a lot of us COULD see where that was gonna lead us.

  • for sure a lot of them were into this and I won't give republicans a pass, but if you can't see the corruption on the other side then its you who can't see. I'm not American, I see corruption in every world government, it's only americans who, left and right, think their side is the good side while the other is bad. The repubs passed Sarbanes-Oxely and the dems participated and shielded Fannie and Freddie from the effects. both sides are incompetant. Ignore the one at your own folly.

  • i got news for yeh, yankees are fauking ball team, and most major league sports are paid off loosers. Same with most politicians , but we'll still kik your ass anyday. OBAMA WON GET OVER IT

  • Yankee doodle dandy there, in case you haven't gathered I have no more love for Canada than I do America. both are spoiled brats wnating much without ever doing anything to deserve it. For all I care North America can go the way of the dodo. Beat up Canada all you want, it won't make a lick of difference when you find yourself burning money to keep warm in the winter.

  • yeh but im talking from the standpoint of a lower class pay grade that is struggling to make ends meet and still be a decent citizen. Not for government but truly for myself. And i cannot talk from the standpoint of another country, especially if iv never even been there before. And hardly have money to spend, let alone burn lol.

  • I get your point, and I have family in America. I worry that your country is missing the boat on the real problems it has. If they can mitigate inflation you may survive intact, but honestly, I just don't see how they will. It's sort of funny, cause if inflation gets bad enough instead of mexicans going into the Us illegally, it'll be Americans going into Mexico illegally. The irony is sort of delicious.

  • The Congress passes bills, but the President proposes the budgets. Republicans controlled the Congress for 14 years, and with Bush they destroyed the economy. They lost in 2006, and started blaming Democrats for everything. This is nonsense.

The Democrats did win control of Congress in 2006, but Bush vetoed everything, and Dems didn't have enough votes to override it. Now, Obama is president, and Repubs are trying to blame Dems, hoping we are all too dumb to understand.

    Prove them wrong.

  • damn good comment Captain!

At this point, "don't buy into that 2 party bs" might as well be a republican talking point. It's the best one they've got.

Too bad. I'm fucking buying into it. I'm buying into progress, civilization, and the future.

Everyone else can keep going in circles if they want.

  • I'll be sure to buy your house for $100 Canadian after your "progressive" devalues your dollar even further.

I used to think if America falls the whole world economy will fall. But between Bush and Obama, we have strengthened our ties with China, Russia, and South America, and we can survivie without America. Take all the progress you want, just don't come to our country when yours is finally broken beyond repair.

  • I agree the repubs are shifting blame, just like the democrats have done in the past. If you can't see that you whole political system is broken then maybe you deserve what you get.

  • Oh so I guess the incubation period for this crisis was 1 year... instead of the more reasonable or accurate timeframe of say 5 years which would put the blame on a Republican controlled congress. I don't care who's FAULT this is... I want the Reps to stop blocking any action taken to try to fix it!

  • When dems took control in 07, They should had balls of steel and fought harder though. On the other hand if dems got anything pass bush wou,ld have veto it and nothing would be done.

  • The Dems held their own for those two years. Their strategy was to let the Republicans have as much rope as they wanted because they knew that the R's would eventually hang themselves. Simple as that. They also knew that the public would continue to swing to the Dem side, and that they stood to make major gains in the Senate in the 08 election. It was a smart strategy, but was not without risks. For example, people are still, today, blaming them for all bad things occurring during that time.

  • Shut the Fuck up stupid redneck.. Who started this war and shit, Fuck, Reps. are really stupid!!

  • Do NOT be surprised, if Rep. Jeb Hensarling also states "Obama is a Mexican and the earth is flat." ´Cause Rep. Jeb Hensarling is a product of our underperforming education system !!!

  • he's totally right

  • yeah its not like bush was defiant on signing their bills or anything.

  • The constitution?

    Art. 1 Sec. 8 Congress:

"To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization" no amnesty

"To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof" not the Federal Reserve Bank.

"To declare War" , "make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water" , "Regulation of the land and naval Forces", not the President.

The biggy - Amendment 10, "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

  • lol but the president can veto the congress over and over... they forgot to mention that

  • Maybe Hensarling should give Michele Bachmann a lesson on the Constitutional powers of oversight given to the Congress. She seems unclear on the concept.

    watch?v=E9DgMG-_6Ls

    On the other hand:

    Hensarley is a partisan hack.

First, the Blame Game is Lame!

Grow a pair and stop pointing fingers.

Second; Although it's true that Democrats had a numerical majority for the past year in Congress, they have NEVER been "in control" of legislation. Monolithic control is authoritarian (read: Republican).

  • It is indeed the Congress and not the President...at least in a direct sense.

But it is the President who submits his budget.

And it was our previous President who called for $1.3 trillion tax cuts (jointly the biggest in history).

It was our previous Vice President who used an obscure parliamentary procedure to side-step the 60-vote majority requirement to pass them.

It was our previous President who falsified evidence & led us into our first war in 168 years with no tax increase or draft.

  • You watched Frontline last night didn't you? I did too, I love that show.

  • LOL! you got me.

i love Frontline, too. (as well all other the news shows on PBS)

  • You sound like a petulant child.

Just because an argument is "reasoned" doesn't make it a good argument. You could devise well-reasoned arguments which are completely wrong. Like the way that Rep Hensarling is doing in this clip!

  • Even if you believe that to be true, it's irrelevant to the point I'm making. Which is that TPMTV has a glaring liberal bias.

  • TheIllegit: So? As long as they don't distort the truth or lying who cares?

There is a difference on only showing news favoring one side over the other, show only negative material on one side, never show any negative material of one side

    vs.

distorting/manipulating facts, make up lies and call them news etc,

    See the difference?

So back to my question: So?

  • So nothing, really. Just an observation. Though I thought they try to present themselves as an unbiased news presenter, as opposed to a commentator/editorialist. Point is: that is commentary, that is editorializing, that is bias. If you like that from this type of site, good for you. I don't mind those things, as long as they're not masquerading as something else. Which is what they're doing.

  • TheIllegit : let's say your right about TPMTV. May I ask what you think about your Fair and Balanced Fox News who has MILLIONS of daily viewers?

  • Professional organization. The straight news people (i dont watch much, but Shpherd Smith, Meghan Kelly, Brit Hume etc.) play it down the middle. And most of the high profile commentators are right wing, but then the commentary shows are just that. Not pretending to be anything else.

  • If Fox News plays anything down the middle, William Randolph Hearst was a socialist.

There is no network, newspaper, or other broadcast media that doesn't have a bias. The only disservice they do us is to make it subtle enough that some people/most people can't see it. Some are more subtle than others. We'll all be better off when the masquerade of "unbiased" news is over, and everybody realizes that political biases are ubiquitous.

  • Well said.

  • They are more down the middle then any other major news station.

  • If you think that is true then I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn!!!!

  • If you dont believe it i have some swamp land in florida to sell you.

    Its all relative, son.

Youve been duped by the libs.

  • Faux Noise targets the morons of the nation.. we have 79.8% of American's who believe in creationism and the magical sky-daddy Jeebus.

What's funny is GOP trying to rewrite history saying WW2 bailed our nation out. Haha.. did we make money off Iraq War? KBR ripped off our nation being a contractor and even killed some of our own troops by faulty electrical wiring in showers with 200 volt running through water.

  • You can editorialise without being biased in a partisan way.

If Republican A says something that is sooooo obviously bullshit, then pointing out that fact does not mean the reporter is 'biased,' just as reporting a story about Democrat B making stupid remark does not make one a Republican hack.

  • Right, but what he said isn't bullshit, it's true. It's not like he said the moon was made of cheese. He thinks it's primarily the democrats fault, which is a defensible position. And only worthy of being presented in a disparaging way if you're a leftie organization viewing it from the left. Which they are.

  • Hensarling is making an INCORRECT statement which in NO WAY represents ANY truth.

He is trying to blame the Democrats for all of the problems, and placing the blame on them when they did not have CONTROL over the legislative process. Not only did they not have enough of a majority for dominance, President Bush fought them on every initiative.

Hensaling is completely and cynically re-writing history for the ditto-head, know-nothing, blow-hard, echo-chamber Republican slime-machine.

  • Do NOT be surprised, if Rep. Jeb Hensarling also states "Obama is a Mexican and the earth is flat." ´Cause Rep. Jeb Hensarling is a product of our underperforming education system !!!

  • TPMTV's headline is accurate, and it is an editorially-relevant statement which in no way is "liberal" or "conservative" AT ALL.

All they are doing is showing that Rep. Hensarling has a PARTISAN bias in his comments and unfortunately it reflects the fierce partisanship found elsewhere in the Congress. Not all congresspersons are partisan ideologues, but clearly Rep. Hensarling is. And so too, are you. Clearly.

  • "TPMTV's headline is accurate, and it is an editorially-relevant statement which in no way is "liberal" or "conservative" AT ALL." - False. it is. Specifically the "!", which indicates an excited, emotional tone, which is not present anywhere in what was said. And a "!" that would never be present if it were a Democrat accusing the Republicans of something.

  • What IS relevant?

I think you're confusing the concepts of 'liberal' and 'conservative' with the term PARTISAN.

In fact, the headline cannot be construed to be 'liberal' within this context. You could theoretically argue that the headline represents a PARTISAN bias, because the clip clearly and plainly shows Rep Hensarling making a partisan attack. But Hensarling is so obviously and incredibly wrong, that no one could honestly or INTELLIGENTLY defend his statement, and that explains the !

  • Your argument would make sense if TPMTV disparaged Democratic party hacks in a similar manner, but they don't. Why? Because partisan Democratic party hacks are merely speaking truth when you're looking at them from the eprspective of the left.

  • Actually, I've watched this channels vids for a long time, and day after day they feature some the worst low-lights of Democratic failure as well as Republican flubs. When Dems make missteps, you can be sure that Toilet Paper Music Television will post clips of that too.

It seems to me that you are looking for bogey-men under rocks that aren't even rocks.

  • I'm not saying they never show democrats looking bad. Virtually every time they show a democrat doing anything they do that. The point is when they show a democrat fucking up, or being dumb they don't say: "look! a democrat being ridiculous!", like they tried to do here. Because they're leftists. Not difficult to divine. Use some common sense.

  • Illegit: "Use some common sense."

Sorry, I don't ever smoke that stuff. And I would encourage you to refrain from doing it too. I mean, go ahead if it helps you, but don't get high before you make comments on YouTube, unless it's on the Urban Grower's channel. Apparently, they are into that stuff big time!

Honestly, methinks thou dost protest too much; you are reading waaaaaayyy too much into that exclamation point, possibly due to the paranoia you experience from smoking so much cannabis.

  • "That is why, on my first day in office, I would give the military a new mission: ending this war."It's from a OP-ED that Obama wrote in the New York Times, July 14 2008." I opposed this war in 2002. I will bring this war to an end in 2009. It is time to bring our troops home." Houston speech,February 19, 2008,the transcript is available on the Washington Post website.Your wrong, the truth means everything to me.700 million dollar embassy+Residual force = OCCUPATION,not CHANGE.

  • Residual Force = Japan, Germany & innumerable other countries....

We have left "Residual Forces" behind in every country we ever went to. There are more than 1000 US Military Bases in 63 countries right now. In total, there are 255,065 US military personnel deployed Worldwide. It does NOT equal OCCUPATION.

  • So by your standards the old USSR wasn't occupying East Germany and Eastern Europe? They just had a residual force there for about 40 years. Most people recognize that America is the occupying force in Iraq, just like the USSR,none of the Eastern European countries asked the USSR to stay behind after ww2.They occupied Eastern Europe.Iraq never attacked or asked for America to come invade their country.Any forces left behind would have to be called occupational.
