when triple h was injured in 01' he cane back to be the most over if anyone...cos having soneone away makes u realise how great they were...thats when austin.started becoming a bit irrelavant...that and the invasion
"Grandmster Sexay" Brian Christopher. The bad story of King vs Cole was horrid as is, but throw a GMS return in which he got little to no pop? BS. Same with the Slammys. I mean damn it, Goldust returning from injury (becoming involved in the Cody/Booker fued to set up a brother vs brother storyline), Masked Kane when it was thought he would never remask, a breif Lita appearance, freakin' Road Dogg now as a roadie again...and the Virginia crowd was deader than shit!
I know this is an old video, but I just want to say that I love this show. I literally watch your videos over and over. By the way, I seriously hope Ric Flair fucking retires already!
The only reason Matt Hardy's comeback failed was because instead of pushing someone who could wrestle and totally deserved it like Christian, they focused on garbage like cena, orton, batista etc. and they didn't give him the main event push that was totally obvious for years. Goddamn these so called "creative writers" really are fucking jokes.
oh man I have to agree 1000% with seeing Sid come back, but to do that right for me they would have to get gary capetta to be the ring annoncer and give the famous "From anywhere he darn well pleases, weighing 313 lbs BIG SID VICIOUS!!" I would go nuts. and to see new jack just fuck someone up one last time would be pretty kick ass too.
i think 1 of the worst comebacks that NEVER gets mentioned was/is chris adams in the early-/mid- 90s in wcw...he did some saturday night/main event/worldwide/etc. matches...had a good run 4 a coupla weeks...lost 2 an olympic bobsledder (whose name i 4get...sorry,guys)...then went-on 2 do a "judo" gi-wearing jobber b4 disappearing & dying a few years later...
There are two guys I would love to see come back for one last big run.
The first one, as Eric mentioned, being Sid. How amazing would it be to see him come back and dominate like he did back in the day on a large scale.
The second one being The King of Badda Bing himself Diamond Dallas Page. Even when WWE tried to bring him in as a heel in 2001, the pop he got was amazing. I would love to see him have just one final farewell run.
What about Bruno Sammartino? not in a wrestling format...but, if there's anyone who deserves a WWF (WWE) hall of fame induction ... from a fans perspective (especially as a history lesson)...the guy who has the longest title run of them all!
It's funny that Eric said Bret came back during the "New Generation" of today, yet back in the mid-90's, he was the leader of the "New Generation" back then.

Goldust in '02 was not a surprise return. they played video packages for him several times leading up to the RR that year. i head Malenko was supposed to come back to wrestle Benoit at ONS '06, but Benoit decided to take time off around that time.
i wish Mark Henry would go the fuck away! he's been there 14 years and never drawn a dime!
i also wish Orton would go away forever. since all he does is stare at everyone / everything. i wish he was staring at an unemployment application instead.
@pchavez1981 Correct(about Goldust), but to clarify, I was at the Smackdown where his return, along with The Godfather & Mr. Perfect, were all announced(1st Smackdown of 02, from MSG), and none of those were leaked ahead of time, so until they were announced, nobody knew they were coming back, so I apologize if I confused the two because yes, by the time he actually made that return it was advertised, but the announcement weeks before was a huge surprise.
@WrestlingRoundtable you are correct about that then. i remember that SD too and the announcements of those returns were huge surprises. especially since i had very limited access to the 'net at the time.
no comment about my comments about Henry and Orton? i think they are great picks to go away and never be seen again. they both have the charisma, mic skills and wrestling ability of a tin can. and i reach for the remote every time i see either one of them.
Batista is actually having one of the strongest runs of his career and he plays this heel character perfectly. It's actually unfortunate that he's very close to retiring at this point

i would love 2 see a "stryker/santamaria/j.r." 3-man commentating team on either raw-&/or-smackdown...eric would be the vince/tenay...stryker wille be the ventura/lawler/sammartino/perfect/monsoon/etc. "ex-wrestler" spot...& j.r. will be...well...lets keep him "j.r."...at least the j.r. we all used 2 love b4 he got 2 be the j.r. u guys kinda ripped-on during "best/worst commentaters" back in 1/08...
will there be any "best/worst of..." 4 the "survivor series" anytime soon...seeing that wwe plans on getting rid of it this year 4 a new named ppv (sorry that i 4got the new name 4 said ppv)...
I can't say I'm too surprised that WWE is scrapping the Survivor Series because it hasn't really been pushing new talent anyway like it used to in previous years,or at least set up feuds.
I agree with many points that you've made E, I sadly do not want the Macho Man to return if he's not healthy enough to, As much as EVERYONE loves Macho Man, You really have to think about his age, granted age doesn't matter, but even YOU Mentioned His TNA Comeback, but I would LOVE for him to host RAW.
Good picks, I want Angle to return to WWE, it would be awesome, also want Sid to return, even if it's for a short time only. "The Cake" is the best ! lol
Alletto what about Matt feud with MVP on smackdown? That was cool to start off and eventually it became bad but all the US title stuff and the games were great. Very entertaining.
Johnny Saint, of course, had a fantastic comeback in 2007 and stole the show in the LDN Wrestling event in London in his match with Johnny Kidd. He also debuted in America in Chikara's King of Trios tournament to very positive reviews and had a match with Colt Cabana in Sheffield which was, from what I've heard of it, good but with an unaprieciative crowd. He knows enough about himself not to make long term plans for wrestling but he can still have very good matches when he comes back.
Simply put for worst comebacks you could put the whole Heroes of Wrestling card on it. The highest rated match was 2 cool Scorpio and Julio fantastico's *1/4 performance with ONE OF ONLY 4 -5* matches being the Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff losing to Butch and Luke, Yeah the Bushwhackers.
His comeback didn't even excite kids then,as most of them knew better by that point anyway because they could get all their behind-the-scenes information on the internet, which was still in its infancy.
seriously guys, this was your best show to date. to me the show works best when ya'll are just having fun and enjoying what wrestling has given us to love, hate and embrace. keep it loose, keep it fun and keep it fresh. its late and i'm not really doing justice to the praise I want to give, but just in general great show.
Chris Jericho's comeback was awesome; with the Biblical references and all. The reinvention of his character was well done as well, how he went from this super-extroverted in-your-face type of guy to a quietly scathing holier-than-thou heel to whom everyone else are troglodytes and plebeians and hypocrites.
Agree with Janetty and Steamboat. Agree with the majority of things you liked about the returns. 2002 had a great year of comebacks, triple h at the start of the year. And i know you disliked it, but goldberg's original return, it was intriguing. Lol jack made me laugh, i want Simon Dean back and Monty Brown. Bad comebacks, Stone Cold's thousands of comebacks. Lol huuuuuuuuuge. Kevin Nash is several terribles returns. Any returns in tna are pretty poor. Triple h, michaels, taker, batista, etc.
@TherealRNO if I remember correctly I had made that comment a few weeks before he died (I know it says i made that comment a year ago but its not 100% accurate)
The wwe is using him as a dance, or playboy whatever the garbage, we already have BiG SHOW whose a better athlete. I am sad to see he had an ill world title run, wished he done more with it.
And as for Batista, I heard he's staring as King in the movie Tekken based off the video game. Him and Nathan Jones have no buisness in that film whatsoever...
A great comeback was Undertaker as the American badass at Judement Day during the Iron Man Match...came in, whooped ass, affected the finish and changed gimmick all in about 45 seconds...
I always think one of the best was Marty Janetty in the build up to Wrestlemania - shame it didn't lead to anything...
favorite comeback: Tully Blanchard in ECW in 1995. The blowoff match wasn't great but the run-in after Douglas-Simmons and then the first Blanchard-Douglas match were spectacular. I didn't mind the blowoff match, but it was a bit too oldschool for the Philly fanbase
I think what guys like Flair, Piper, and Hogan need to relize is that they don't look good shirtless anymore and should not be in the ring. But, they still have magnetic personalities and great mic skills. They should strictly stay managers. Blassie, Albano and so many more wrestlers were bigger managers than wrestlers. AJ may not be the greatest Flair protegee but Flair (If needs to be involved with wrestling) should be in some one's corner.
I think the reason the Undertaker can keep coming back is partly due to his gimmick. Both literary and cinnimatic horror charters keep returning. The stake will be pulled from the vampire, the zombie will be reanimated, and The deadman will walkback to the ring. if they can make over ten friday the 13th movies then 'Taker deserves atleast that many comebacks.
The greatest would have to be Steve Austin's return in 2000 from his scripted car accident by HHH and Rikishi. Imagine the road he took to get back to the top. First, he brutalized Rikishi and Triple H on separate PPV's then he gets screwed out of many opportunities at Kurt Angle for the WWF title so he settles a feud with Triple H and wins a record 3rd Royal Rumble to set up the most star-studded main event in Mania history against The Rock and wins the WWF title after nearly two years!
You guys should make this a weekly show; I never know when to check for videos and whatnot - I think a regular weekly video would get a lot of regular viewers who know just when the show will be uploaded. Just my opinion though, keep up the good work guys.
You mentioned Terry Gordy in 96, but I saw hi at an indy show a few months before he died and he looked better than he had since his Freebird days.
Cool little story, back in the early 80's after a show, the 'Birds and KVE were at my uncle's house getting some, um, recreational party favors. I was there and walked in on them and had a fit seeing them.
When I saw him at the Indy show years later, he actually remembered me. It was great especially considering what happened a little later.
I find it interesting that you picked Batista, Eric. I don't completely disagree, but of all people, why would you pick Batista? Okay, obviously he doesnt have very good match quality, but neither does Triple H. They both put on that rare match once in a while thats great, but still.
So, my point comes to this. HHH has been in the business years longer than Batista, and has probably doubled his titles. Why should Batista go and HHH stay?
@lazorice You're right, maybe there are better picks, but my point was there are some people who you'd think would just be bored & want to move on, esp. at his age. Hell, I'm bored with his character as a viewer, I'd just think he'd be bored doing the same thing, more or less, over & over against the same guys, more or less. Maybe he actually enjoys it and the pay is great, but you'd think he'd just move on. There are probably better examples but I don't care to see him anymore, heh -E
@MrPerfect2000Z Cena takes on much more guys than Batista. Cena's had PPV matches with JBL, Edge, Big Show, The Miz, Triple H, Randy Orton, and Sheamus in 2009.
@WrestlingRoundtable I don't know if you've covered this before, but did Batista's heel turn do anything to change the way you feel about Batista, as far as staleness? I think it has done wonders for him, but I'm just a silly mark...haha.
@WrestlingRoundtable I agree with you, about Bulldog and Pillman Santamaria. It's interesting about Pillman though, if he didn't have his Hummer accident before he went to WWE would he still be alive today? I agree with Batista as well how many times has that got had injuries since 2005? People have said to me he needs to leave. As far as HHH he will bow out, gracefully who knows but why wouldn't he bow out? Sure, he has had belts a bunch of times but they haven't been long runs except 03.
How mention jbl added to the wrost comeback and jericho comeback was weak i mean he havin a amazing run but they coulda been moreto or be more discret
@lithiumproject Make an appearance in any way, shape, or form! Just to be a Guest Host or a Hall of Fame Inductee. Some kind of appropriate closure to his career like the other legends are trying to get or have already gotten.
He remains pretty much the only relevent guy that hasn't made any kind of return (TNA does not count because thats a glorified Indy) since the WCW purchase.
jericho had a good comeback, it kinda died off, but his re-invention is the best thing that i have seen in the last 5 years, he's a quality worker, good promo man and gets mainstream attention, they need him at this point, he can get anyone over
If they could put Cena in movies, then Batista at least has a shot! lol
My favorite comeback has to be Eddie Guerrero's comeback against RVD. The Ladder match they had for the IC title is classic. Even better if you saw it originally on Raw & saw Eddie punch the dumbass fan who jumped in the ring!
hell yea eric lol i was damn near yellling SID as each guy reeled off their guys they want to come back...then ya sealed the deal, Imagine SID comin out and powerbombing the hell outta sheamus lmao
Look, you know I respect you and your opinions, and I know that you would like to stop talking about him so much, but seriously, why didn't you mention Benoit's comeback in 2002? Do you not remember the Smackdown Six?
I mean sure it might have started out slow with the whole Flair/Dudleys thing, but after that he was on fire and he would stay on fire for a while. Sure he had his bad moments (Judgment Day 2003, his feud with Chavo in 06) but it wasn't his fault. So what gives Eric?
As much as I dislike Batista and want him to disappear, I must say that if I had to choose who I would like to see go away and never EVER return, it would be the Nasty Boys. I feel like weeping whenever they turn up on Impact.
@sundancekid726 Where there is smoke, there is usually fire. I don't believe the extent to the rumor, but there might be a little bit of truth to it to some extent.
It might be possible, but I don't believe that's the only reason why not either. There's definitely some other tension and animosity betweeen Randy and Vince.
They had so many "quit the WWF/E" and "fired" angles with people it confused me for a bit. I couldn't give a shit about the Survivor Series match where Austin's job was on the line because it was like "...whatever, he'll be back" (keep in mind im unaware of what the net is saying). Then his team lost and it confused me that he never came back until I realized "...holy shit, that really WAS the last time!"
IMO, Best comebacks: Rock in 2001, Austin in 2000, Hogan and HBK in 2002, Raven back in ECW from 99 and Foley from 2004, and Jeff Hardy in 2006(even though Jeff is not your favorite :) )
Worst Comebacks: Animal in 2005, Scott Hall in 2002(Huuuuuuuuuge letdown), Sting's annual return to TNA,and Ric Flair showing up to TNA
Look at him, Winning the Intercontinental champion was the icing on The Cake!!! That name for Beefcake or anyone else to pull it off would be kick-ass on so many levels. Great show as always guys.
YES ERIC SID SID SID! I want the master and the ruler of the world to comeback, short term, long term dont care. Dont know if you are aware but there were rumours back in 2007 that he was coming to WWE but sadly it never came to fruition.
Mr. Perfect's return in 2002 dissapointed me. i loved him at the rumble but after that he was pretty much jobbed out. the nasty boys returning this year pisses me off. what about goldust constantly leaving wwe and joining tna then returning to wwe. it seems like the companies cant decide if they want him or not.
Mr.Perfect's return wasn't intended to be a full-fledged comeback anyway,he just mainly helped to push the younger talent before he had gotten fired from there.
Another Worst Short Term Comeback is Roddy Piper in 06 that's when he won the tag team title with Flair against the Spirit Squad in Cyber Sunday and I Agreed with Vader in 05
Worst Long Term Comback are Sting in 97, Road Warrior Animal in 05, Jeff Hardy in 06 plus fuck Jeff Hardy,Triple H in 02,and British Bulldog in 99 when he changed his attire to wearing jeans and Boots
Worst Short term comback has to be Warrior in 98, When came back to wrestle in Fall Brawl 98, it was so terrible to see him of Warrior being Warrior and add it up with Hogan in Halloween Havoc in 98,fans don't care about him and WCW shoulda release him after Fall Brawl 98
what do you guys have against Kennedy/Anderson, yeah he's not the best wrestler out there, but he's in no way as bad as some of the other people you mentioned.
worst comeback for me was the 1996 Ultimate warrior Wrestlemania XII because he beats Triple H adn the proceeds to feud with Goldust and Jerry "The King" Lawler and then disappears
Best comeback was a tie between Shawn Michaels and Hulk Hogan in 2002
In TNA, I Want Ric Flair to leave the most he is tarnishing his legacy in the world of wrestling.
In the WWE Chavo Guerrero Jr., it's sad to see him from one of the Smackdown Six in 02 to being jobbed against the midget in 09 on Raw plus that awful duet with Jillian Hall when Ozzy Osbourne was guest host
when triple h was injured in 01' he cane back to be the most over if anyone...cos having soneone away makes u realise how great they were...thats when austin.started becoming a bit irrelavant...that and the invasion

i would love 2 see a "stryker/santamaria/j.r." 3-man commentating team on either raw-&/or-smackdown...eric would be the vince/tenay...stryker wille be the ventura/lawler/sammartino/perfect/monsoon/etc. "ex-wrestler" spot...& j.r. will be...well...lets keep him "j.r."...at least the j.r. we all used 2 love b4 he got 2 be the j.r. u guys kinda ripped-on during "best/worst commentaters" back in 1/08...

11nytram11 1 year ago
Simply put for worst comebacks you could put the whole Heroes of Wrestling card on it. The highest rated match was 2 cool Scorpio and Julio fantastico's *1/4 performance with ONE OF ONLY 4 -5* matches being the Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff losing to Butch and Luke, Yeah the Bushwhackers.

seriously guys, this was your best show to date. to me the show works best when ya'll are just having fun and enjoying what wrestling has given us to love, hate and embrace. keep it loose, keep it fun and keep it fresh. its late and i'm not really doing justice to the praise I want to give, but just in general great show.
1Natecore 1 year ago

JeffHoo13 1 year ago
I think what guys like Flair, Piper, and Hogan need to relize is that they don't look good shirtless anymore and should not be in the ring. But, they still have magnetic personalities and great mic skills. They should strictly stay managers. Blassie, Albano and so many more wrestlers were bigger managers than wrestlers. AJ may not be the greatest Flair protegee but Flair (If needs to be involved with wrestling) should be in some one's corner.
Nertrender 1 year ago
I think the reason the Undertaker can keep coming back is partly due to his gimmick. Both literary and cinnimatic horror charters keep returning. The stake will be pulled from the vampire, the zombie will be reanimated, and The deadman will walkback to the ring. if they can make over ten friday the 13th movies then 'Taker deserves atleast that many comebacks.
Nertrender 1 year ago

@WrestlingRoundtable If you think that Batista's getting bored of going against the same guys imagine what Cena felt like in the last year
MrPerfect2000Z 1 year ago
@MrPerfect2000Z Cena takes on much more guys than Batista. Cena's had PPV matches with JBL, Edge, Big Show, The Miz, Triple H, Randy Orton, and Sheamus in 2009.

@lazorice JBL, Edge, Big Show, Triple H and Randy Orton are guys that cena has faced in ppv matches for the past few years not just last year
He did face the miz in one ppv match which was more or less a squash intended to show that Miz was not in Cena's league
MrPerfect2000Z 1 year ago
@WrestlingRoundtable I don't know if you've covered this before, but did Batista's heel turn do anything to change the way you feel about Batista, as far as staleness? I think it has done wonders for him, but I'm just a silly mark...haha.
blazer4ice 1 year ago
@blazer4ice I think Batista has reinvented himself with the heel turn and has made me interested in his character again
MrPerfect2000Z 1 year ago
@WrestlingRoundtable I agree with you, about Bulldog and Pillman Santamaria. It's interesting about Pillman though, if he didn't have his Hummer accident before he went to WWE would he still be alive today? I agree with Batista as well how many times has that got had injuries since 2005? People have said to me he needs to leave. As far as HHH he will bow out, gracefully who knows but why wouldn't he bow out? Sure, he has had belts a bunch of times but they haven't been long runs except 03.
Sweetguy9009 1 year ago
@lazorice Because at least HHH can go through a single match without botching a move, getting injured, or both

I mean sure it might have started out slow with the whole Flair/Dudleys thing, but after that he was on fire and he would stay on fire for a while. Sure he had his bad moments (Judgment Day 2003, his feud with Chavo in 06) but it wasn't his fault. So what gives Eric?
