  • I have proven fact it still runs because just last summer I've seen run through Cochrane, Alberta.

  • @09JDCTrainMan i posted this back when we were told 2816 would not be returning to excursion service I have now heard that is not the case and 2816 will in fact be back I hope this is true I have alot of good memories of this engine including a cab ride over the Big Hill through the Spiral Tunnels and an awsome shot of 2816 blowing out of the Cannought Tunnel..and many good times here at Banff as well as Lake Louise I was on this trip in this video in fact but if 2816 is returning welcome back

  • CPR 2816 is back home in Alberta being worked on.

CPR 2929 is in awful shape, Steamtown needs to move that locomotive indoors like they did with NKP 759.

I would be nice to see the old Jubilee back in service, along side 2816 & 2860

  • From What I heard, the CP Steam program is on hold and 2816 is all boxed up and sitting on a shelf in one of CP's Calgary shops, lol. But seriously, I heard CP took advantage of the downturn and is doing a complete rebuild of 2816. They will probably resume trips when the economy picks up. CP spent too much money on 2816 to let her sit static.

  • Also, you remember that 2816 used to be part of the Steamtown USA/NHS Collection, and sat all those years outside in the elements in Bellows Falls, VT & Scranton, PA. It would have taken a very long time to restored her at Steamtown.

We are so fortunate that CP Rail decided to buy her back for excursion service. Too bad, 2816 couldn't make to Trainfestival 2009.

  • I was on this both ways roundtrip in the rear car we had a great time and on the return we went the route the RCP takes out of Golden through KC JCT south over Crowsnest pass through Lethbridge and than on up to Calcary..in 2007 I rode in the cab out of Lake Louise over the "big hill" through the spiral tunnels that was a hell of an expierence.. I hope the CPR brings this engine back again I hear she is permenatlly retired again only hearsay I cant confirm that thats what a CPR employee told me

  • Such a beautiful train... did they take her out of service recently?
