Actually, Uzbeks are mostly Iranian (Persian) according to a genealogical study done at Oxford. They have a lot of "hun" influence (which could be considered Turkic) but they are mostly Persian.

Uzbeks and Tajiks are FAR more similar than modern Iranians as far as culture goes. Both are Sunni Islamic groups, and they are significantly less "Arabized" than Iran (genetically)

Iranians adopted the Shi'ite Political system upon the rise of the Safavid empire, and changed drastically.

Persian (Iranian) culture and Tajik culture are very, very different from what I know. Uzbeks, Afghans and Tajiks are culturally similar. Sunni Muslims, tribalistic and functioning on codes of Law. Even Azeribijan, with all its likeness to Iran, is more similar to the former nations mentioned culturally.

Iran is rather detached from the rest of the central/west Asian areas north of the middle-east.
