Holy SHIT! It's been 8 yrs since I've watched it and I'm 14 now And I still love it!! I couldn't find the name of this show and now Ive finaly did and this show is AWESOME!!!!
Omg, I'm a guy and I can't believe I watch this when i was young. lol. I remember bits and pieces of it. lol. I know she rocks when she resides that horse!!!
I am a 27 year old female. I work as an administrator at a corporation. It is midnight and I somehow thought to search this. I am going to be tired at work tomorrow!
i was born in 83 and my sister in 79...this was our "Dora"...our "Bratz"....what a difference almost 30 yrs made in cartoons...what i wouldn't give to go back!
And I like how our hero doesn't stick around trying to help little person with every little thing. She's got a bigger mission. One that will eclipse all of the minor problems and fears of this planet's inhabitants.
This is, like, the opposite of video game logic. And I appreciate it!
I know they're fuzzy, stuffed animal-people with squeaky voices, but just consider for a moment, wandering through a field of frozen corpses. They all with goofy, startled expressions, so at first you think it's just statues.
But she DOES go out of her way to point out that Starlight's "heart is still beating" so you can't tell me all the little guys in the ice field were gonna be okay.
rainbow brite was the cartoon i always watched when i was little and i just found it on youtube.i think its really good that someone put it on youtube thank you so much
as strange as it sounds when I was a boy ALL the other boys besides me LOVED this cartoon. I have clue now as an adult why lol. I remember me and my friend actually verbally fighting who got to pretend to be Rainbow Brite and I lost and had to be the villain lol. Then as a kid I remember getting grounded and when I was in my room I colored my nails like her LOL. A weird mix of icons, Luke Skywalker, Optimus Prime, Sgt. Slaughter and Rainbow Brite !
@saderin she is an icon for us gay guys who were little boys in the 80s I used to love this hahahaha the new remake bullshit is painful to watch, I came here to see the real shit not the new complete feces with the wand bimbos!
Rainbow Brite , Fraggle Rock, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures, Robotech, Voltron, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, The Littles , Care Bares, She-Ra, Filmmations Ghostbusters.. they're on Netflix now. Be sure to share that info with other retro fans. They're also on Blockbuster ONline. Lets show these online rental places an increase in the amount of Retro Streaming. Maybe that will get them to get more shows available to us. Copy & paste this idea around to others.
I tried getting my girlfriend to dress up as Rainbow Brite for Halloween last year. I explained to her that doing so would make my life complete, but she didn't bite :(
Rainbow Brite began in 1983, same year as me. I grew up renting these VHS tapes from the local rental place. Watching this again takes me back to eating popcorn on my parents' shag carpet in the basement and watching movies.

oh my god! I was born after all this but it was still my favorite thing growing up. We always went to this off-the-wall movie place and I rented the dvds one at a time until they closed!
@Angel1000287 It is unusually dark and sad for a children's cartoon show, but that's kind of why it's so brilliant. Wisp prevails because of her belief and conviction in making the world a brighter place, even before she discovers and learns how to use the Color Belt.
phenomenal. a jackpot for existentialist philosophers. cute innocent beings existing in a world of darkness overcoming challenges in the face of the unknown for no apparent reason other than to do good for it's own sake. cartoons today pretend that this life has no darkness, good life lesson for kids, to do good in a world of dark..................now where did i put my beer?

I absolutely LOVED watching RB when I was a little girl. Even at 33, I still have to have a "cartoon nostalgia" fix every once in a while! You're never too old for this stuff!
why slag of anime- it was all good back then- and a lot of the animation labouring for these oldies was actually sourced to the asian countries (like dogtanian i think) cartoons like spongebob are part of a generation in which its suposed to be funny to be a retard- retards don't requre wit or logic but many cartoons do it these days- and peaple wonder why adh is so popular these days.

was born in 80 military brat in germany i watched this show and all the others ps they link off of this one just pick one and you will be surprised what else you find im going to let my little girl watch all of these movies what a great memories to get to share thank you
Yakno... I looked this up because I was watching a anime, and in the comment's box, they were all talking about how this guy's horse looked like ponyta from pokemon or Starlight... so I just had to look up this old show! I had to! Ahhh... I was five when i first - AND THE REST YOU PROBABLY DON'T CARE ABOUT THE END!!!
Had 2 Rainbow Brite dolls, 2 houses, buddy blue, and my sister had Patty O'Green. When she got Starlight for her birthday, I, 5, made my relatives look all over North Carolina for one. I now wonder why we couldn't share?
I don't remember ever watching this but still got some books tucked away in the attic - and am feeling compelled to retrieve them and re-read them. ^_^ Loved the colour kids!
OMG! when there was a video store near my house when i was like 4, and i would only rent this and the old version of strawberry shortcake! so thanks! its been forever!!!
@BirdGirl Princess OMG! We had a video store across from the preschool I went to. My friends and I would reenact the shows!!! We even had guys who'd do it
@Tracazoid OMG!! There was a place by my house too, it was an old video store, and i would only rent this and the old version of strawberry shortcake! this sure takes me back!!!!!
This really takes me back....*sighs* I remember wondering why Rainbow Brite's hair wasn't rainbow colored...and having a huge crush on the kid with the metal horse D:...lol.....I'm now 20...and it seems just like yesterday...XD....if people were to see me watching this at work....:P
i was born in 1991, and my older sister in 89, although just past this time of this show, we found a Video of it at a movie store that was going out of business, when i was this i was absolutely awestruck by the dark imagery, there really is a lot of morbid stuff in here even insinuated death, and it was really my first introduction to the "Epic" story type, this really shaped my childhood. as "gay" as it is to watch it as an adult male now, i love it, so incredibly nostalgic.
This is almost exactly the same way I found this one. I was born in 88, my sister in 93. We had a small independent video store near us, and that was the only place we ever found this episode. We loved how dark it was, how the danger was more "real" than a lot of kid's shows. (The first episode of My Little Pony Tales was the same way, and the rest was much fluffier.) I was sad when the video store closed, since I didn't figure I'd ever get to see this one again.
@HappiestEverEmoBoy Hey, boys loved this stuff too!! My cousins and I watched it all the time! I'm a girl, and was born in 83, and my sis and cousins loved this show. It was FABULOUS and still is! I know many young boys who watched My Little Pony as well. It's just like girls watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Ghostbusters, which I watched too. But Rainbow Brite was "it." I just bought the entire series on DVD. Good for you for admitting your touch with nostalgia! Nothing wrong with that!
@ellenoid yeah same here i was born in 84 and i loved my little pony's back then and care bears lol and rainbow brite too. jajaj a lot of my guy friends did too back then-but they'd deny it now im surejjjajajaj
@1flutedude lol!! Im a guy and i watch this too (born in 1980). I think back then you could watch any cartoon without feeling your manhood or womanhood was being violated lol. All of my cousins would get up and watch our saturday morning line up together. GI joe, he man, my little pony...those were the good ole days. I would definitely go back if I could.
@HappiestEverEmoBoy Gay is def. the wrong term to use. Immature is what you're looking for, as just because someone is homosexual doesn't mean they enjoy watching children's cartoons.
@HappiestEverEmoBoy funny that happened to me to the movie store was going out of business in hillsboro oregon and i first got my first chance to see it back in the early 90's and heman and sherah too and care bears. lol hahaha
@Tracazoid OMG!! There was a place by my house too, it was an old video store, and i would only rent this and the old version of strawberry shortcake! this sure takes me back!!!!!
i didnt realize my brother was signed into this. lol. I dont think hed appreciate me saying under his name that I wish I were Rainbow Brite. But I did, so oh well.
It always seems weird to hear people say that. lol I think the kids shows now are too "fluffy". I LOVED this show when I was a wee little kid, and I wasn't scarred by it. Back when villains were villains and you could really tell the difference between the bad guys and the good guys in shows.
I mean, yeah it's "dark" compared to what's on now, but it never felt that way to me, and I was one of the most delicate little kids you'd ever know. lol
omg i agree starlight sounds so gay....lol this is joshs gf not josh lmao..... but yea i member watching this all the time and now im like wow when did starlight become gay lol
I always loved Starlights enormous ego.

I spent three years on a US base in Japan as a kid. I loved this and He-Man, but then again, my options might have been a little limited.

(Votes 5 for the hilarious nostalgic value).
My first referance was to the overabundace of but then I began focusing on the stoned reality of the show.
First WHAT IS A 5 YEAR OLD GIRL DOING IN THE DESERT ALONE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT?
Secondly how did R.B. survive being bucked from a horned centipede, the centipede knocked itself out, what drug made this happen.

Wow this is pretty dark for a kids show. Esp;. its age rating. O_o
AngelEmfrbl 2 years ago
It always seems weird to hear people say that. lol I think the kids shows now are too "fluffy". I LOVED this show when I was a wee little kid, and I wasn't scarred by it. Back when villains were villains and you could really tell the difference between the bad guys and the good guys in shows.
I mean, yeah it's "dark" compared to what's on now, but it never felt that way to me, and I was one of the most delicate little kids you'd ever know. lol
