  • I always loved Starlights enormous ego.

  • what did she say her name was?

  • @supernazicommando I think it's Whisp. I'm not too sure

  • @draconiclady0610 yea it is wisp.

  • i OWN a Starlite little plastic horse from like 10 years ago and 2 model dolls

  • grad school makes me feel like i am forever trying to find the sphere of light and confronting awful monsters... when i just want to add a little bit of color and happiness to the world... damn winter break...

  • They played this on Nick Jr for about a month when I was little and I really got into it. Then they pulled it and I was really sad. lol

  • No wayyyyyyyyy. You are awesome. Thank you for uploading these!

  • Only in the '80s could one find a cartoon centered entirely around rainbows, with a character named Twink.

  • How come when he says "hang on!" it doesn't sound bad but then he sounds completely different (and stupid) when he starts giving his "I'm a magnificent horse" speech?! It's like they had two different voice actors and choose the stupid one to do the voice for the second line. (or something)

  • i always thought Starlight looked better without all the rainbow colors..

  • This is actually not the first "episode" of the series. This is the 3rf two part special that came out. "Peril in the Pits" was the first, and then The Mighty Monstromurk Menace was after that.

  • I can talk?! Im Starlight the most MAGNIFICENT horse in the UNIVERSE!!! Of COURSE I can talk...

  • i <333 dis like woe :)

  • This was spooky, it was like a graveyard of what Rainbowland use to be!

  • Hmmm...I much prefer the swedish version, Starlite sounds so cheesy in the english one...

  • @Bastarden But he's starlite the MAGNIFICENT. Gayest character on tv at the time IMO xD

  • You gotta love her courage and bravery. She's such a Gryffindor.

  • "At least tell me where to start?"

    "Start running!!!"

Haha classic, I used to love this cartoon, so glad to find I still enjoy it now!! :)

  • Wat was her name again? It sounded like whip

  • @SoccerFrog101 Wisp the sprite

  • @SoccerFrog101 Wisp.

  • Omg I remember when I was a little toddler person and loving every minute of this and now I might cry because there are so many memories haha lol I still have that video I never returned to blockbuster of rainbow brite!!!!

  • @TheRandomotic Everyone has gotten have a blockbuster that hasn't been returned :P

  • Holy SHIT! It's been 8 yrs since I've watched it and I'm 14 now And I still love it!! I couldn't find the name of this show and now Ive finaly did and this show is AWESOME!!!!

  • Omg, I'm a guy and I can't believe I watch this when i was young. lol. I remember bits and pieces of it. lol. I know she rocks when she resides that horse!!!

  • i am born '77 and just in time in the ieghties when i reached my 7th birthday rainbow bright is my much awaited show in tv. i loooove this so.

  • I am a 27 year old female. I work as an administrator at a corporation. It is midnight and I somehow thought to search this. I am going to be tired at work tomorrow!

  • i was born in 83 and my sister in 79...this was our "Dora"...our "Bratz"....what a difference almost 30 yrs made in cartoons...what i wouldn't give to go back!

  • shy cas 2011.....

  • Ok people, it's a cartoon, a better cartoon than we have nowadays, yes, but just a cartoon

  • And I like how our hero doesn't stick around trying to help little person with every little thing. She's got a bigger mission. One that will eclipse all of the minor problems and fears of this planet's inhabitants.

This is, like, the opposite of video game logic. And I appreciate it!

  • I know they're fuzzy, stuffed animal-people with squeaky voices, but just consider for a moment, wandering through a field of frozen corpses. They all with goofy, startled expressions, so at first you think it's just statues.

But she DOES go out of her way to point out that Starlight's "heart is still beating" so you can't tell me all the little guys in the ice field were gonna be okay.

  • Children's show these days is a bunch of pussy. Oh, the good old days...

  • rainbow brite was the cartoon i always watched when i was little and i just found it on youtube.i think its really good that someone put it on youtube thank you so much

  • The shows they should bring back to TV they should put this on

    Teletoon Retro

  • ive missed this show so much...

  • as strange as it sounds when I was a boy ALL the other boys besides me LOVED this cartoon. I have clue now as an adult why lol. I remember me and my friend actually verbally fighting who got to pretend to be Rainbow Brite and I lost and had to be the villain lol. Then as a kid I remember getting grounded and when I was in my room I colored my nails like her LOL. A weird mix of icons, Luke Skywalker, Optimus Prime, Sgt. Slaughter and Rainbow Brite !

  • @saderin You weren't alone!

  • @saderin she is an icon for us gay guys who were little boys in the 80s I used to love this hahahaha the new remake bullshit is painful to watch, I came here to see the real shit not the new complete feces with the wand bimbos!

  • I watched this when I was younger, I was born in '96, so it was introduced to me by my parents. 14 now, it's still the best.

Oh, how I missed you, Rainbow Brite.

  • @ABetterYesterday i agree:) cartoons before are the best compared to cartoons nowadays:D

  • Me gusta Rainbow Brite.

  • Rainbow Brite , Fraggle Rock, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures, Robotech, Voltron, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, The Littles , Care Bares, She-Ra, Filmmations Ghostbusters.. they're on Netflix now. Be sure to share that info with other retro fans. They're also on Blockbuster ONline. Lets show these online rental places an increase in the amount of Retro Streaming. Maybe that will get them to get more shows available to us. Copy & paste this idea around to others.

  • i'm just glad i'm not the only guy watching this. i totally had a crush on her when i was a kid. the animation was bad ass too!

  • I tried getting my girlfriend to dress up as Rainbow Brite for Halloween last year. I explained to her that doing so would make my life complete, but she didn't bite :(

  • The bad guy looks and talks like Cheech!

  • I LOVED this cartoon as a kid! My older sister and I used to stay up ;ate watching all the movies and cartoons she had!

  • I use to have the doll and the video tape

  • I was a kid of the 80's. Born in '81. Loved this show and strawberry shortcake. Man I miss the good ol' days of awesome cartoons.

  • i was born in 95 im 15 and i remeber watching this when i was little!!!! i dont remeber it being a movie though

  • Rainbow Brite began in 1983, same year as me. I grew up renting these VHS tapes from the local rental place. Watching this again takes me back to eating popcorn on my parents' shag carpet in the basement and watching movies.

  • who is light that she is talking to

  • oh my god! I was born after all this but it was still my favorite thing growing up. We always went to this off-the-wall movie place and I rented the dvds one at a time until they closed!

  • Holy crap, I never remembered it being this morbid! :O

  • @Angel1000287 It is unusually dark and sad for a children's cartoon show, but that's kind of why it's so brilliant. Wisp prevails because of her belief and conviction in making the world a brighter place, even before she discovers and learns how to use the Color Belt.

  • im gunna be rainbow brite for halloween!

  • What is Rainbow Briite saying her name is? Wit?

  • @AlleluiaElizabeth Her name is Wisp :D

  • I forgot how good this show was.

The pacing is awful, but I'll forgive it.

Wish they still made shows this good.

    Oh well...

  • phenomenal. a jackpot for existentialist philosophers. cute innocent beings existing in a world of darkness overcoming challenges in the face of the unknown for no apparent reason other than to do good for it's own sake. cartoons today pretend that this life has no darkness, good life lesson for kids, to do good in a world of dark..................now where did i put my beer?

  • One of my favorites as a kid!************80s were totally awesome!

  • It's been 25 years since I've seen this! I had a rainbow brite doll when I was 6, along w/ her books, coloring boks, etc. 1980's cartoons were the best. Thanx for the upload.

  • I NEED RB♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

  • @angiella1 why? it's soo corny. I guesss you're a square.

  • god i used to love this as a little kid

  • @neonshiki I still do and I'm 32

  • I absolutely LOVED watching RB when I was a little girl. Even at 33, I still have to have a "cartoon nostalgia" fix every once in a while! You're never too old for this stuff!

  • Wow...haven't seen this in years...talk about nastalgia.

For some reason I recall a better voice for the horse...ah well.

  • Dude your video stopped at 2:47 o.o

  • i miss rainbow brite. i had the doll even though the horse was my favorite.

  • why slag of anime- it was all good back then- and a lot of the animation labouring for these oldies was actually sourced to the asian countries (like dogtanian i think) cartoons like spongebob are part of a generation in which its suposed to be funny to be a retard- retards don't requre wit or logic but many cartoons do it these days- and peaple wonder why adh is so popular these days.

  • I must say I would watch this any day of the week then even blink at a episod of sponge bob thats for sure. Todays cartonons just dont try anymore, explains why I watch anime :P

  • was born in 80 military brat in germany i watched this show and all the others ps they link off of this one just pick one and you will be surprised what else you find im going to let my little girl watch all of these movies what a great memories to get to share thank you

  • hahahahahahah i was like 6 yrs old when i frist seen this hahahahah

  • Yakno... I looked this up because I was watching a anime, and in the comment's box, they were all talking about how this guy's horse looked like ponyta from pokemon or Starlight... so I just had to look up this old show! I had to! Ahhh... I was five when i first - AND THE REST YOU PROBABLY DON'T CARE ABOUT THE END!!!

  • The fate of this world is in the hands of a little girl and her lunchbox. Wow this place is screwedover.

  • that BASTARD! it took her lunch box!

  • wait! what did she say her name was?? Wish?

  • @mystic132 - I think it was Wisp, originally.

  • awww i love this

  • Ah, memories. =)

  • Had 2 Rainbow Brite dolls, 2 houses, buddy blue, and my sister had Patty O'Green. When she got Starlight for her birthday, I, 5, made my relatives look all over North Carolina for one. I now wonder why we couldn't share?

  • I had the entire rainbow brite kitchen set.

  • 32 and walking down memory lane..i was 8 - 10 i think... =)

  • I remember reading these books!

  • I had Rainbow Brite roller skates as a kid, miss those days!

  • this video makes me cream.

  • Someone asked who did her voice or where it sounds familiar from... I'm thinking Penny from Inspector Gadget when I hear it

  • @KTownMan i think so too!

  • who did her voice??? it sounds familiar!

  • i remember watching this and im 26 now. Wow time flies.

  • OMG that purple cow creeped the hell out of me! no wonder this show freaked me out as a kid xD

  • OMG! when there was a video store near my house when i was like 4, and i would only rent this and the old version of strawberry shortcake! so thanks! its been forever!!!

  • @BirdGirl Princess OMG! We had a video store across from the preschool I went to. My friends and I would reenact the shows!!! We even had guys who'd do it

  • This really takes me back....*sighs* I remember wondering why Rainbow Brite's hair wasn't rainbow colored...and having a huge crush on the kid with the metal horse D:...lol.....I'm now 20...and it seems just like yesterday...XD....if people were to see me watching this at work....:P

  • Aomtr333:

Sorry I meant to click Thumbs up!!

    Not doowwn.. :(

  • there... i put a thumbs up to fix it ^^

  • hahaha havent saw this when I was like 4 or 5

  • i was born in 1991, and my older sister in 89, although just past this time of this show, we found a Video of it at a movie store that was going out of business, when i was this i was absolutely awestruck by the dark imagery, there really is a lot of morbid stuff in here even insinuated death, and it was really my first introduction to the "Epic" story type, this really shaped my childhood. as "gay" as it is to watch it as an adult male now, i love it, so incredibly nostalgic.

  • @HappiestEverEmoBoy

I was born in 1981, and was in love with Rainbow Brite! She was my first childhood crush.

  • @HappiestEverEmoBoy

This is almost exactly the same way I found this one. I was born in 88, my sister in 93. We had a small independent video store near us, and that was the only place we ever found this episode. We loved how dark it was, how the danger was more "real" than a lot of kid's shows. (The first episode of My Little Pony Tales was the same way, and the rest was much fluffier.) I was sad when the video store closed, since I didn't figure I'd ever get to see this one again.

  • @mistressofmuses

    ohai.

  • @HappiestEverEmoBoy Hey, boys loved this stuff too!! My cousins and I watched it all the time! I'm a girl, and was born in 83, and my sis and cousins loved this show. It was FABULOUS and still is! I know many young boys who watched My Little Pony as well. It's just like girls watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Ghostbusters, which I watched too. But Rainbow Brite was "it." I just bought the entire series on DVD. Good for you for admitting your touch with nostalgia! Nothing wrong with that!

  • @ellenoid yeah same here i was born in 84 and i loved my little pony's back then and care bears lol and rainbow brite too. jajaj a lot of my guy friends did too back then-but they'd deny it now im surejjjajajaj

  • @1flutedude lol!! Im a guy and i watch this too (born in 1980). I think back then you could watch any cartoon without feeling your manhood or womanhood was being violated lol. All of my cousins would get up and watch our saturday morning line up together. GI joe, he man, my little pony...those were the good ole days. I would definitely go back if I could.

  • @HappiestEverEmoBoy Gay is def. the wrong term to use. Immature is what you're looking for, as just because someone is homosexual doesn't mean they enjoy watching children's cartoons.

  • @iTr0ll yes it does

  • @HappiestEverEmoBoy funny that happened to me to the movie store was going out of business in hillsboro oregon and i first got my first chance to see it back in the early 90's and heman and sherah too and care bears. lol hahaha

  • @HappiestEverEmoBoy

    it is incredibly gay....which rocks

  • Thanks for uploading! Rainbow bright, My little pony, Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Jem totally bring me way back.

  • I spent three years on a US base in Japan as a kid. I loved this and He-Man, but then again, my options might have been a little limited.

  • what did she say her name was ? 5:04 ?

  • Wisp.

  • i used to rent episodes of this show on VHS from a public library near my house as a really young child :P

  • @Tracazoid OMG!! There was a place by my house too, it was an old video store, and i would only rent this and the old version of strawberry shortcake! this sure takes me back!!!!!

  • omg this is amazing.

  • i havent seen rainbow brite in 20 years

  • lol you are not old enough to remember this show

  • Why is the lava making fart noises?

  • I love the sound effects in old cartoons!

  • I love The Horse!

  • @Princessnlmh Me too!!!

  • i didnt realize my brother was signed into this. lol. I dont think hed appreciate me saying under his name that I wish I were Rainbow Brite. But I did, so oh well.

  • i dont remember Starlight being so conceited. lol. I'm 23 and I STILL wish I were Rainbow Brite..

  • this, care bear and the smurfs were my shows growing up

  • If you like cute cuddly, 80s things

    search "Care Bears Action"

to see the best parody ever!

  • i remeber when I watched this when my mom rented it from the video store! Your never to old for colors!

  • my god im old!!!! and gay!!!!

  • your point?

  • dang im just 19 but i feel like im 5 again

  • @MusiqueDanyel this is still way before your time lol

  • @MusiqueDanyel Re-runs or VHS, because I was watching this on tape when _I_ was around that age, and I'm 29.

  • I love this show when i was 4 and I will always love it. its so cute and usually so happy!!!

  • (Votes 5 for the hilarious nostalgic value).

My first referance was to the overabundace of but then I began focusing on the stoned reality of the show.

First WHAT IS A 5 YEAR OLD GIRL DOING IN THE DESERT ALONE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT?

Secondly how did R.B. survive being bucked from a horned centipede, the centipede knocked itself out, what drug made this happen.

    Third,

  • dude starlight is uh-maze-ing!

  • Cute!

I used to love Rainbow Brite. I wonder why I'm gay...

    ;)

  • was that sincere or susposed to be funny cuz im gay 2!! (and Would like 2 know)......

  • Sincere

    :D

  • oh man, maybe i AM gay!

  • i used to also, but i'm not gay.... think it was more of a psychadelic interest.

  • The Original Movie of Rainbow Brite

    thank you so much!~~<3

i missed this movie so much

    watching it i remember

    born: 08/04/1981

  • oh i love you!!!!

  • ahhh memories i was like 5

  • I WAS OBBSESSED WITH THIS SHO

  • quality animation right thurr

  • Brilliant remembering my young days xx

  • It's been years! Thanks for uploading this..love the sound effects.

  • AH OMG I used to looooove ths show XD

    I can't believe I found it :D yay

  • Wow, Starlight.

Don't tells us how you really feel XD

Man, I wish I had born in this era. My sisters always rave about how great this show was.

  • how old ARE you then?

  • funn i wathc this al time ewn i was smaller i lovd it

  • thank you broileranimal for the info! I appreciate it!

  • what was Rainbow's Brite's name? I didn't catch it when she introduced herself and I always thought it was Rainbow Brite! LOL

  • Her name was Wisp.

  • Wow this is pretty dark for a kids show. Esp;. its age rating. O_o

  • It always seems weird to hear people say that. lol I think the kids shows now are too "fluffy". I LOVED this show when I was a wee little kid, and I wasn't scarred by it. Back when villains were villains and you could really tell the difference between the bad guys and the good guys in shows.

I mean, yeah it's "dark" compared to what's on now, but it never felt that way to me, and I was one of the most delicate little kids you'd ever know. lol

    /ramble

  • Starlite sounds just like Winnie the Pooh I think lol. This brings me back to my childhood days. Thank you for uploading this.

  • The girl who voiced her was something like 3-5 years old.

  • 4. But now she's 29, she says some of her best early memories were with adult actors.

  • Wait. The VA was 4 when she voiced Rainbow Brite? 0.o She sounds like she's 10 or older!

  • I know. Just look her up! It is really odd.

  • omg i agree starlight sounds so gay....lol this is joshs gf not josh lmao..... but yea i member watching this all the time and now im like wow when did starlight become gay lol
