  • It's funny that I take comfort in know that a lot of pain and suffering is bypassed. At the same time, my own pain and suffering would be of a much lesser magnitude.

I know it too well that there's always plenty of people who suffer more than I do. I can at least try to show my best face and put up a good backbone to my problems.

  • @ysabellabravetalk

As an existentialist, I believe that anguish is a property of life which we endure as human beings simply because we exist. One could imagine an existence in which there is no anguish, pain or suffering; such as heaven. Such a place is highly unlikely. However, I do not believe that wishful thinking regarding supernatural powers alleviates our anguish; this only increases it. The absurdities and pains of life are negated through understanding of each other and of ourselves.

  • @Kincajou,

Love, mercy, justice, compassion and free will are all supernatural powers. These have no rational basis for existence in a mechanistic universe, and yet they exist. One can choose to believe they are manifestations of the absurdity of existence, or that they arise from something not bounded by the observable universe. The ability to freely make that choice mitigates in favor of the latter conclusion.

  • I won't begin to answer the girl above who was abused. That is horrific. In Torah we are taught that our own suffering allows us to understand the suffering of others. Then instead of dwelling on our own suffering,we attempt with God's help to love and help others who suffer.Since we know pain we can then approach the other person & help.If we hadn't experienced this we would never realize the pain of others. The emphasis is on the other person.I am my brother's keeper.

  • Please don't try to rationalize and justify suffering. The world truly would be better off without it. It is a definable negative.

  • @IdaMiaDot.

It is not hard to imagine a world free of diseases, where plants and trees would provide all the food needed by people or animals, with a mild climate that would eliminate the need for shelter. In such a world, people would still need to make the right choices in order to avoid suffering for themselves and others. We live in a world where pain and suffering may be unavoidable, but we each need to make the right choices, even if doing so causes pain or suffering for ourselves.

  • @IdaMiaDot

I simply don't assume I know everything I suffer from is indeed suffering. I know this from too many peoples' lives. What at one time seems terrible is later understood - even a blessing. And sometimes it is not understood by me at all, hence my freely saying regarding that point, "I don't know why".

  • this video broke my heart. i think i migth finally have the strength to get through this. thank you ysabella. <3

  • Thank you for the video Ysabella, you are such an inspiration to me and I love hearing your words

  • your videos are depressing. Life shouldn't be about negative thoughts and negative feelings.

I don't mean to offend, but you make life sound like a drag. Life is what you make it.

  • @coa1979liw I'm afraid you've missed the point of these entirely.

  • Dear Ysabella Brave, May your calm presence and wisdom in this message from 3-1/2 years ago, guide and comfort you in your current struggles.

  • Thank you for your inspirational words, Ysabella. The last 18 months have been the most horrendous in my adulthood. I lost my dad last July ('09) and I lost my job last month. Yet for some reason, I'm not a nervous wreck, due to the faith that there is something good or great coming over in the horizon. I really hope so.

Thanks Ysabella, and may God Bless you in your future endeavors.

  • Has anyone said you favor Mira Sorvino?

  • @SavedComputerGeek

i don't think there's anyone left that hasn't been mentioned.

  • God hates and detest suffering .......proverbs 6:16

" All the kingdoms of the world I will give to you if you fall down and worship me "

said Satan onto Jesus. Jesus did not question Satans ownership & authority of the earth.

God allows suffering ........ Jesus suffered greatly on the cross. Eternal life in peace without suffering waits us all !

  • The abysmality of reality sometimes seems to be far more than we can bear. Yet, we do bear it, and in doing so, we bear witness to the indomitable spirit that dwells deep within every living creature. A spirit that refuses to admit defeat to an enemy that is never as formidable as we imagine, or as it would have us believe. For the enemy relies on deception and trickery, not true strength. As long as we see through the lies to the truth, we will endure and conquer.

  • None of you know pain or suffering. 14 years of abuse you learn lessons a 14 year old shouldnt learn All of you take the smallest things for granted things i dont. I have one thing to live for family is not that one thing family has beat me and left me to die. Its my turn you dont realize what you have until you've lost it im a planner a mentalist I use my horrible background to make everyone else feel like shit. thats when they learn There is no god there is no grand plan

  • @TheAbusedChildren

I had far more years of abuse than 14. More people know what you're talking about, and you know less of suffering than many others.

For those who have tried to kill me: I have forgiven and use my life to love. God's will ALWAYS be done.

  • @TheAbusedChildren I can say that I know what it's like. All the broken bones and all round beatings.14 years worth. When I got older and moved out I beat a man to a pulp. All that did was get me anger management classes. After 6 months of that the shrink told me to heal by going and beating the living crap out of my step dad. I told him that I would leave that to God. Within 1 year of saying that my stepdads knees deteriorated to nothing. Would you like to tell me there is no God?

  • Romans 5:3-5

"We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us."

You are a steel magnolia, MaryAnne! Keeping you in my love and prayers.

  • Pain and suffering is real in this life, but not forever. Thank you for helping me get through it until it is over. The Lord is with you Ysabella.

  • you hellp tack away my pane I thank you and love you I know that god hallp me finned you. when Iam saded you make me smill

  • You inspire me eternally.

  • I love you <3

  • i'm 14, and I got abused a year ago and you have really helped me. you have honestly changed my view on humanity and you have restored me hope on life. i would just like to thank you.

  • Keep on, brave warrior.

  • You are always so genuine and beautiful with your thoughts.

  • I just wanted to say thank you ysabella. My nephew Christian was diagnosed with leukemia one week ago and never before have I seen this type of the pain and suffering for my family & myself. It's been about a year since I've watched one of your videos & now remember why I fell in love with you the first time. You have an amazing way of putting life into perspective. Thank you for reminding me that god does everything for a reason for the greater good of his children & to find peace in this.

  • He has a peace beyond understanding, doesn't He? He is the great Comforter, and I am so blessed to read this from you, thank you.

  • i have my reasons for not believing in god, but what you said at the end of the video about god and our pain really makes sense. im loving your videos so far!! thanks

  • You are such a beautiful soul, here to help! never change! great vid 5***** we must also examine outside influences that if we are unaware of, will contribute significantly to our unhappiness. I have posted a video response exposing some of those basic truths.

    Peace.

  • gosh i really hope god has a plan for me. thank you. this made me cry near the end.

  • Pain is the great teacher of mankind. Beneath its breath souls develop. ...

  • A beautiful woman with a gorgeous heart.....or a gorgeous woman with a beautiful heart.....not sure which.

  • You make me cry, but in a terribly good way :')

  • i can relate to this video alot. thankyou.

  • This is a beautiful and wonderful video. It means more to me than you could ever know. Thank you.

  • This is still one of the most beautiful videos you have ever done. Thank you again for this.

  • I really love your videos. Your voice is sooo soothing. I watched this & the self esteem viddeos last night & I really really needed it. I've been going thru a lot, have lost my parents over the years & my best friend. Something I'll never get over. Anyway, thank you for posting these!!!

  • MaryAnne, even though Im having much pain right now, I wish I could take all your pain and suffering away from you, and place it on my shoulders, for I know you have been having much yourself for a long time. It is worth it to me for all the hope and encouraging words you have given to me and so many others over the years. God is remembering all you are doing, and you will be rewarded for all your labor of Love.

  • Pain is the precursor for change. Physical pain without reason is a way to grab our attention that something is not right with our bodies. Emotional pain continues as we tend to repeat the same mistakes, until we either die.. or make the necessary change. So, in my opinion, pain should be looked at as a built in mechanism that is necessary for our self-preservation and growth.

  • You should be working for Opra becase so much people would benefit from your great heart and knowledge. Love you!

  • "Grief and pain do not expire like a candle or the beacon of a lighthouse, they simply change temperature".

  • I got so much pain n hurt its not even funny....the worst part is not having anyone to turn to you know the world needs more caring people like you you are very sweet.

  • Pain & Suffering? Real Pain & Real Suffering? Can't do much about mine right now. Never could. That's left up to God. I look back on my life & see ??? I guess I haven't had much pain & suffering, my character isn't so good. I do know Love is very painful. I'm in the middle of pain & suffering now, so I guess I'm on my way to some place beneficial to me. I know it will be beneficial to others, for I won't be in anyone's way. Keep doing Good MaryAnne. Watch & Pray always. <3

  • That actually made me cry lol!

    Thank you so much.

  • All I can say right now MaryAnne is Thank You for being here. I couldn't have made it through this time without your understanding of pain of others.

  • your like an angel.

  • i'm not religious at all,but listening to our voice brings a light to me...it's weird...

  • You have a wonderful gift. You make such personal videos that truly touch the soul. I will be honoured to include you in the bibliography of one of my essays.

  • If I help someone that is the greatest thing.

  • I am sure that you have greatly helped many people via your videos. Rest assured you have made a wonderfully positive influnece on YouTube.

  • @FullMetalPianist she has..surely.

  • And in the twilight of the pain and the dawning of a new future, the invincible spirit moved to the rhythm of determined hope. Faith in action, belief in God, the heart fully engaged. Lives with more meaning, purpose and value than could be reasonably expected. Now, once again, it was their time.

  • watching some of your older videos (not the singing ones) I found a different Ysabella and you are a very sweet person

  • wow.

    that was amazing.

    so true.

    thank you.

  • Your so deep. I always feel that things happen for experiences to teach u lessons and to always be optimistic.

  • Your so deep. I always feel that things happen for experiences to teach u lessons and to always be optimistic.

  • amen

  • Maybe God, maybe, just wants us all to try as hard as we can and know that everything we've all gone through will be worth it in the end. Well, that is what I hope for, and pray for. You are TRULY an inspirational woman, lots of love, -Ray. :)

  • Ah man... I just watched. Wow you are a special woman Marianne. You will be an excellent mom someday. You have a wonderful tenderness and charm about you. I wish you well. Thank you for this. XoX

  • Wow you look good Marianne. I know a thing or two about suffering. The more sensitive and aware a person is the more they hurt. I haven't watched this yet waiting for it to download so forgive me if I repeat what you are, (for me now) about to say. I love your singing and I love your soul. I also love to sing if I ever get around to making a vid. I'll send it to you. hugs to you sweetheart. Frank.

  • You really touched my heart with that one. Thank you so much for your videos.

It's wonderful to see that there are people in the world like you.

  • seems like an endless cycle of pain that i feel and the suffering thats i go thru ... not sure if any good has come w/ all the living i've done in my short but very passionate and fully lived life . but i guess we'll have to wait and see , living in the moment is making history and creating karma ... to be continued <3 G

  • Thank You MaryAnne. This video means so very much to me this time around. God is always having perfect timing. God Bless You for being at the right place at the right time.LOVE YOU All-WAYS

  • No words can express how much love you just gave us through that video.

    We love you so much!x

  • You are so right about this stuff.

  • that was amazing, great way of thinking! lol really touched my heart, thank you.

  • I love the air you have about you.

    very old world...

I'm not sure how old you are, but I imagine you aren't over 25, you are so wise beyond your years.

The way you articulate yourself, is just art. you are such a lovely woman, and a great blessing to us all.

It's inspiring to me that a woman can be gentle and kind, but still so strong, and your words carry everywhere.

  • You are the only Person who I think can bring to peace to the world.

    ~Nightfire

  • You know you remind me of my papa (my grandfather) I don't mean it as an insult. It's just that he's oneof those people who most people look at and say "they don't make 'em like that anymore"

I wisH I could be more like that

  • You made me:

    Think

    Smile

    Cry

    Thank you.

  • God himself sent you to us. To know that there is a soul like you gives me hope. Thank you. You make me smile everytime I watch you. 5 stars isn't enough.

  • So simple, yet so powerful!!! :)

  • So is your suffering all over now?

  • Is anyone ever free from suffering?

  • I guess I phrased that wrong or maybe I'm just confused haha. In your video you said that some people suffer more in the beginning of their lives, some at the end, and some all the way through and that you hope you are one of those that suffer more in the beginning. Of course you still suffer to a certain degree all through life, but do you think that your first theory applies to you... and that most of your suffering has already passed?

  • So far no such luck, Bizkit, but here's hoping! :D

  • you are so beautiful! the way in which you are able to articulate your thoughts and feelings is incredible, you make your advice applicable to all situations, and you make perfect sense. thank you for being such a lovely person and sharing your thoughts with us!

  • Thank you for letting me :)

  • Wow, you've never been more beautiful than in this video. When you find who you are destined to be with, he will be one very lucky guy. That video was wonderful, sincere, and heartfelt - a pleasure to listen to.

Earlier this year I broke up with my boyfriend of 7 years - the pain and depression were awful. Now that I am past him, I can say that I have learned and grown from that relationship, and now I am with someone else whom I hope I am with forever.

  • very touching. one of my favorites! I really enjoyed it. thank you :)

  • 40 year old ex military guys arent supposed to be moved to tears and cry over youtube vids are we?.....

    :(

    damn.

theres one person on the planet that can cut through the armour.......

  • Only to give a hug and support for when we next have to wear it. :)

  • Thank you.

  • Nice; but I must say, this one's a little more...nebulous. Exceptions certainly. A baby shaken, brutalized, and left severely brain damaged in a hospital. He survives, far weaker, not stronger. Perishes at 15. I have personal...trouble with events like these. I love God as well, but he made me such that I question these things. I'm not really stating anything...but this can be *such* a brutal world. Anyway...beautiful thoughts. Visit my channel? :)

  • This is a sincere and genuine video of my feelings on this topic. I am not acting here in any fashion.

  • I love this video it touched my heart my with something that I am going through! keep up the good work!!

  • this made my cry.

    I really loved it

  • Short and sweet, yes. However, very powerful, direct, and accurate.

  • so deep and vital that even made me cry

  • Thank you.. Please keep making videos. I really needed to hear that.

  • what doesnt kill us makes us stronger they say. Great video. You are wonderful!!!

  • the worst life can do to us is kill us or slow us down, but sometimes if we are forecd to take life slower. We see and notice things we didn't notice before.

  • you must be an angel..but thnx so much for the message. it made me cry...everything's starting to make sense

  • I luv this! This make so much sense!!^^^ I think about life alot and stuff, and I don't think enough ppl do. If they did perhaps, not so many wars and contridictions would happen.

  • this is really touchy and r u crying?

  • If I were you, I could picture myself watching my (your) own videos to help myself.

Lol. Yeah. That's how good they are.

  • aww this touch me as well x

  • Beautiful, heartfelt message, and a powerful performance. You put such charm and sincerity into these basic questions of life and love, it's a pleasure to listen to you speak. Thank you.

  • excellent video. extremly insighting. Look forward to watching more of your videos

  • AW THIS TOUCH ME :( YOU ARE WONDERFUL X

  • Thank you for this. It's just what I needed right now.

Sometimes I just wish God would reveal His plan to us...

  • Me too, Skylar.

  • Thank you so much for posting that, it was just what I needed to hear at that moment.

  • you are a very wise person. and i hope i can meet someone like you someday

  • You made something happen inside me. Thank you:)

    Bless you~ :]

  • yes pain and suffering can make you a better person... if you allow it

  • this video is "old school". watching this reminds me of one of those old black and white movies :)I like the music in the background

  • Yeah, we all got our struggles and pain. Fortunately mine are very few, except one. The pain in my heart that comes from longing for a very speical someone I lost touch with while I was serving in the USAF. I've been looking for her for eight years now, just doesn't get any easier as the days go by....thank you for your kind words, Ysabella. I know I'll pull through somehow.

  • hey girl!

  • Thankyou for this. A few months ago, my best friend died in a car crash. Losing him was very hard. Just a few weeks ago, i found out that i have a potentially fatal heart condition, and there is a high chance that i wont live to see my 16th birthday this october. I've been really scared and angry, and in alot of pain, but you have given me hope, that even though i dont understand why all this is happening to me, there must be a reason, and it will all work out for the best.

  • Heres a little love for you! BE strong and rely on those who love you and cherish them. Being frustrated and asking why me is natural but dont deny yourself getting closer to those who matter to you. I will say a prayer for u tonite.

  • You are so, so truly very special!

  • yep! Very deep. U remind me of my history teach because shes also very deep. GREAT JOB!

  • Thank you for this, i needed it so very badly. :)

  • Thank you.

    God bless.

  • It made me tear up to.... But was worth it.

  • Aww, man, this video made me tear up. :-(

Pain sucks, so does suffering, but it makes you who you are. It's unfortunate that that's the way it is, but that's just how things are.

  • I envy your gentle heart, my dear. I did gain much through my personal struggles. Somewhere, I turned the wrong way and became a truly deeply bitterly vindictive cynic. At least I am friendly and I no longer do guilt.

  • If you're alive you can always better yourself. Nothing is impossible.

  • I agree completely... but I do not agree with you about what is "better." That is a complex issue that only God knows.

I have embraced my rather nasty past under the motto "The pain is sweet" and the mantra "Mind and body one the same. Release the anger embrace the pain."

All the good that ceme from me is blessed by God's allowing me to endure the pain. Unlike Job, I am a broken believer.

  • you're very deep. I also love the music in all your videos. but, ur very, very, very deep.

  • You speak my launguage!.. thank you!.

  • It's interesting, everyone I know who has been through a TRULY painful experience has either become deeply religious or an atheist.

  • "all things are possible thru Christ who strengthens us" God bless you

  • everything works in Gods PERFECT plan...trails come but its as gold being refined through the fire...a good quote i personally like is "keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows"-helen keller

  • And they say the internet *separates* us.

This was a beloved post Marianne. TY.

  • You are a kind heart Please be mine I will be as good for you as you will be to me I will hold you and tell you that I love you and you will feel it in your heart that it is true

  • You could just try being brutally honest to yourself at all times and the rest will come naturally, if the motivation to change is there that is. Self proclaimed gurus are what they are for a reason, just like you and i are where we are for the very same reason. As long as intellect and emotions arent clicking theres no wisedom in the world that can help you. You might need to hit the absolute bottom to get in touch with the feelings needed to change your life around, but its worth it.

  • everday i learn more bout people i think i know and find myself in difficult situations , what can i do to take the pain away ? im tired of suffering ,when will it stop ? i honestly just hope that i'll survive to see what my life story tells at the end .

  • i think all the pain and suffering i've experienced already in my life are life lessons and messages for myself and other to learn from . i hope i live thru the pain and suffering in the beginning as well to find a little bit of peace and happiness before im gone . THANK YOU for helping me confirm my thoughts . <3 G

  • i LOVE your videos

  • That is amazing. sooo true.... U couldnt be more honest true and gr8 if u tried.. That was very very polite n fab n probably helped a lot of people. U have a true blessing with u way with words

  • Beautifully said and emotionally felt

  • God tried to make a world without pain and suffering. It was called the Garden of Eden. There were no rules that had any consequences. It didn't work. Adam and Eve became the quintessential spoiled brats. God knew that he had to introduce cause and effect and rules with real consequences. Thus, the rule not to eat the fruit and the consequences that followed their breaking of the rules.

  • The face of a cherub and the words of a mature/wise woman.

While pain and suffering can be "good for you" often people don't reflect in this way. This is what causes them just to suffer more. As well as taking its toll on someone's mental state.

  • Ysabella - your spirit is overshadowed only by your compassion...

  • That was beautiful, thanks for that. We ARE born with our Gifts, pain and suffering just usher them in. They can be the pains of birth or the pains of death. However suffering is a mistake!

  • i just signed up only so i could tell you that your a beautiful person. if everyone cared the way you seem to then the world could finnally see worldwide peace. here's to hoping you can infect the world with your kindness and love.

  • thank you so much :)

  • Thank you

  • So true.

  • I love your almond eyes. They're so pretty and beautiful. :) = Alice

  • I really needed this, you have no ideal. Made me shed a tear but thank you

  • you're absolutely wonderful.

    thank you so much, again.

  • "He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how." - Friedrich Nietzsche

  • "That which does not kill us, makes us stronger" - Friederich Nietzsche (Also Conan the Barbarian)

  • "That which does not make us stronger, kills us."

If we are not constantly improving and getting stronger, we are falling behind.

"He who stops being better stops being good." - Oliver Cromwell.

  • Isn't it "that which does not kill us, makes us stronger" I think that makes more sense.

  • meggiemeg86, yes, you're right. That is the original quote as referenced above. However, like any quote, there are exceptions. Like if something damages you beyond repair, you are not stronger. Also, I like to turn things around to see if they still make sense. If someone is doing something detrimental, like constantly way overeating, it does not make you stronger, it kills you.

  • My point is that we all do things that detract from our ability to be successful. We should focus on things that cause us to be faster, smarter, stronger and better in every way. When we do things like excessive eating, drinking, drugs etc., we are slowly killing ourselves.

  • We all have in our subtle reality, a tenuous grasp of hope; timid souls briefly estranged from fear, delivered onto the wellspring of life. A resolute determination to persevere through any obstacle, any challenge, any pain and at any cost.

  • Sometimes we have to learn lessons the hard way. One lesson I learned recently was to never buy sushi from a gas station vending machine. Sure, I'll probably still get the lobster or caviar, but never the sushi.

  • "If you were to dedicate the rest of your life to easing suffering around the world - now and into the future - what would you do? How would you do it?

Help the hopeless, the helpless and the health-less!!!

Comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable!!"

  • You look like Christina Aguilera here.

  • I have been trying to get this song since I heard it, but I am unable to locate it at all. :(

  • This is a great video MaryAnne that will give comfort to many. Where, however, is God, in Darfur? What valuable life-lesson can one possibly learn from being starved, raped, and brutally battered to death?

  • I don't know. This is why I told a story about a cat and not a child. My cat will never understand what happened to her. Some things in our life we will never understand why.

  • NunsAndPoses: Obviously, these are horrible things and no one would ever want to go through them. However, there are lessons in everything in the Universe. It is part of our job to find these lessons. You are asking the right questions, just don't give up looking for the answers if they are not readily apparent. The answers are there, keep thinking, keep asking.

  • NunsAndPoses: You seem to be quite smart and you seem to really care. You wouldn't be asking these questions if you weren't or didn't. As bad as these experiences are, they are exponentially worse if the person feels that there is no purpose or value. Every lesson you can learn from these events really does give something quite valuable to someone going through these things.

  • Sometimes the only thing that gets people through these things is the hope that it will have some value or meaning. There are people that have been through all of these things and found purpose, meaning and value. Seek out their stories and see what they have to say about it. And, thank you to MaryAnne for sending out love, wisdom and courage to everyone.

  • I want to add that I have been through very rough experiences that are on par with what you mention, and I have learned a great deal from them - not the least of which is empathy.
