  • I love your video! Great help, I've learned so much from your video.

  • I got rejected for Fall 2011. But that's not going to stop me from trying to get to UCLA! I'm going to kick ass at a community college and, with God's help, I well be a UCLA student! :)

  • Don't choose your dream school because of its big name. Choosing a right major that will excel your ability is way more important than the school.

  • @tommiewilde where did you find that definition? marketing can also be honest.

  • @zakman411, the best corporate commercials, like the best propaganda, always contain a few grains of truth—which are then used to propagate a flood of fabrications, myths, and illusions. In any case, it's never enough simply to assert that 'marketing can also be honest'; one has to demonstrate this. So, UCLA Weeding 101 is offered not as a "definition" of marketing, but as a lesson on what's actually going on behind this slick marketing. "Marketing education" should be an obvious oxymoron.

  • @tommiewilde, i understand what marketing is - i'm studying marketing here @ UCLA. And after watching this commercial i can tell you honestly that it is not deceiving or an illusion. I can agree with you that marketing (in general) is about propaganda and illusions, but in UCLA's case, they have presented the facts. Name one aspect of this commercial that appears to be deceptive..

  • The very fact you're asking me to "name one aspect of this commercial that appears to be deceptive" shows (rather glaringly) that you are the ideal consumer that all marketers dream about, and are highly paid to create: someone so empty of curiosity, inquisitiveness, and self-motivated interest that they don't even think to investigate these statements of fact (or fiction) on their own initiative. And the fact that this is happening at UCLA is indicative of what's defined as higher education.

  • The fact that you haven't answered my question - but rather strayed farther away from it - and are attempting to sound intelligent by using large, unnecessary words clearly illustrates your ignorance. I'm proud of you for at least attempting to shoot down UCLA, and I'm sorry you weren't accepted here. I guess the admissions dept. saw right through your tricky wording.

And I will restate what I said before - marketing CAN be honest. Just because something looks good, doesn't mean it's incorrect.

  • awesome!cant wait!

  • i dunno, csulb is pretty good too. in fact, csulb beat ucla at baseball three times in a row, their breakdancing team also beat ucla's, and csulb grads typically get jobs over ucla grads in the la metro area. go niners!

  • Show me a ranking...in NCAA championships OR academic prestige, graduation rates, post-graduate success rates, etc., where CSULB beats UCLA.

You talk the talk you gotta walk the walk. So, prove it.
