i love yoko... so sad that john is dead imagine if he were still alive and had twitter or something cause yoko said he might of liked computers... i hate that cunt who killed him!!!!!!!!
With Double Fantasy he tried to sell his years of misery as great happiness to the world. I believe he died because he chose to. On some level he agreed to be killed and leave this world because he wasn't achieving his soul's desires. He had gone too deep in his own illusions to be able to turn around. Protecting your public image doesn't go well with real soul searching. Of course, I understand that if you're not spiritually inclined, you might not think much of these speculations on his death.
@winstono75 - I'm an atheist and so was John. It always annoys me when God botherers try to apply their magical thinking to atheists that have made a clear decision not to believe in a sky daddy. He did not "choose" to die he was shot because of schizophrenia and America's stupid gun laws. Nothing more nothing less.
@WillShakespeare2007 John was not at all an atheist. He was interested in many forms of spirituality. He didn't care much for Christianity, that's true, but he even had an experience of being saved by a tv preacher in the late seventies...
@winstono75 Atheist! "Imagine no religion!" GOD John Lennon God is a concept, By which we can measure, Our pain, I don't believe in magic, I don't believe in I-ching, I don't believe in bible, I don't believe in tarot, I don't believe in Jesus, I don't believe in Buddha, I don't believe in mantra, I don't believe in Gita, I don't believe in yoga, I don't believe in kings, I just believe in me, Yoko and me. Seems pretty clear to me.
@WillShakespeare2007 If you want to believe that, fine. But the fact is that he remained interested in spirituality. Yoko and he had a tarot card reader working for them for years.
@winstono75 - Yoko had Tarot readings - John clearly says below he didn't believe in it. Another reason he would not believe in it is that you have to be a moron to believe cards can read the future. Here is a test if Tarot cards work why would you turn over the same cards again and again for the same person as their future would be the same. Why because it is random nonsense.
@WillShakespeare2007 You can't argue why John wouldn't believe in tarot. He clearly did. His tarot reader even wrote a book: John Green - The Dakota days.
@winstono75 - I know he wrote a book. I could write a book saying I was his gay sex toy. You can not slander the dead and a person can write anything.
Quote of John Lennon
"I don't believe in tarot"
Google it!
I frankly find it impossible that any intelligent person would believe anything so ridiculous as tarot.
@WillShakespeare2007 I can't really tell if you're being serious now. Seems like some lame sort of trolling. Two different issues: 1. Did John Lennon believe in tarot? and 2. is tarot bullshit?. 1.There is plenty of documentation that John Lennon did believe in tarot, as it is well known he employed a tarot reader for several years. 2. it's probably true that a lot of people who are into tarot are superstitious, but it's not as ridiculous as you in your arrogance are exclaiming.
@winstono75 - I am polite until you make a rude comment to me. You want to meet me face to face and call me arrogant? Thought not you keyboard tough guy.
I said google "I don't believe in tarot" as a John Lennon quote. Sorry you are too fucking stupid to accomplish this task.
Now, tarot can be disproved with a simple experiment. Draw out a set of cards. Now shuffle the deck and draw them again. If it works you should get the same cards as your destiny if the same. It is nonsense.
@winstono75 - Hey you seem like a moron want to buy my magic beans. If you say they are not magic you must be arrogant. I have pack of M&M's that can see into the future, if you don't believe it you must be arrogant. See how fucking stupid your comment was yet?
@WillShakespeare2007 I'm sorry for being a bit rude. It's just that there is no point in discussing whether John Lennon believed in tarot. I googled "I don't believe in tarot" and I get nothing but song lyrics. The song is from 1970, and he basically said he didn't believe in anything whatsoever except himself and Yoko Ono. There is more reason to tarot than what you attempt to demonstrate. I'll give you my understanding of tarot. The cards don't have any magical powers in themselves.
@WillShakespeare2007 But they represent different aspects of the psyche. These cards interact with the energy of the reader and the one being read and if the reader has a good intuition he may use the cards as tools in accessing unconscious processes in the client. I don't care to defend how it is possible that energy interacts with cards, and I don't really care about tarot myself.
@WillShakespeare2007 I'd call you arrogant to your face, because you are devaluing people who see value in tarot. It's not meant as an insult. You really are an arrogant atheist.
If you believe that Tarot is more than a set of cards, you are in a state of mental derp.
If you argue about it on the web with tarot-believers who decide to believe in god, zeus, thor, superman and wizards, you're wasting your time.
To be on topic:
Lennon was an arrogant, self righteous hippie whose "bed in" for peace was a good idea cause he could bed himself on piles of cash, unlike most of humaniy.
I'm just stating my impressions, of course they are just that, but to me it's an original interpretation that is worth sharing. I don't think he evolved, rather regressed immeasurably. He was trying to regain his ego, and it came back in a distorted form, as arrogance and being full of himself. On some conscious level he felt satisfaction with Sean, but his relation to his son can't replace his relations with the rest of the world. He wasn't coming out again, he was straying further.
I don't really wanna start a campaign to discredit Yoko Ono. She should be allowed to say whatever she wants to. But if you are interested in John Lennon, there is no reason to feel obligation to defend Yoko Ono. His soulmate with whom his creativity blossomed was Paul McCartney. For some reason he was drawn to the eccentricity of Yoko Ono and discarded his former life.
John's happy years were with the Beatles, his years of misery with Yoko Ono. You won't find any pictures of John Lennon with a genuinely happy face after he teamed up with Yoko Ono.
@sohooded I'm definitely not a hater. I'm just stating the obvious, both as goes for this particular interview and generally. It's possible to accept Yoko Ono and recognize that unfortunately she is full of shit. If you look into the accounts of their lives it becomes obvious that the rosy picture she is always painting is deliberate bullshitting. She is living a lie. I would love to hear her honest account of their relationship but that's not gonna happen. She's too invested in lies.
@winstono75 You may know her and you speak from personal knowledge. I myself don't know her personally so I don't suppose to know what' was really in their lives. Perhaps you're correct and if John didn't die their famous "love story" would have ended with a crash. Nevertheless, it''s been thirty years since John died and she has continued to revere his memory. So this point is moot. What's done is done and she's 77 years old. Why not let her have her Widow Lennon image?
@sohooded I just don't care for her version of the story. The memory of him that she is revering is of the John Lennon gone astray. I don't want to remember him like she does. But then again, she is only playing the same game with the public that John himself was playing until his death, so she is sort of faithful to him. It just doesn't have anything to do with the truth, that's all. I think it's harmful to her that she has to maintain that facade, if she wasn't a public figure she'd face truth
@winstono75 Recently on youtube people were commenting on The Beatles and I said that of all the Beatles I now like Paul the best. My birthday was yesterday and John used to be my favorite Beatle.. but then I began to see him as sarcastic and very full of himself. I love his music and know people worship him but I've never had any illusions about him and Yoko. When you die at 40 you know you are guaranteed legendhood. But he was just a man who had his issues..and lots of money.
@sohooded If you look at John Lennon up till about 1966 you see a completely different man. Much more playful, cheery and free of worries. To me it seems his personality completely changed around 1966. I attribute it to his attempt to "destroy the ego" on LSD. You can hear him discuss it saying he really did destroy the ego, and that subsequently he felt like shit, like he couldn't do anything. Acid is powerful. His understanding of destroying the ego is erroneous. He destroyed his confidence.
@winstono75 Gosh, in 1966 John was 25 years old, and just beginning his life and overwhelming success with The Beatles. He went to India, had a son with Cynthia, took drugs, etc...As they age, people do continue to evolve and change. You continue to sound like you "know" what happened to the man. How can we ever know? Don't you think he seemed happy enough after Sean was born and he stayed home to raise him.He died just as he was "coming out" again. Who's to say what his future would hold.

I can sort that out for you:
